Understanding each-way betting At William Hill, we offer Extra Places on selected races every day, while you can place each-way bets on your pick at any time by ticking the box in the betslip. It's crucial to understand the place terms when you place an each-way bet, so here are the number of places paid depending on the numbers of runners in the race: - Less than five runners = win-only market - Five to seven runners = two places - Eight to 15 runners = three places - Handicaps of 16 or more runners = four places From their website. Whilst it’s true that Rosallion has won twice at Ascot, the straight and round track. I’d be hesitant to write off Notable Speech because of the track and one flop. His stamina on that mile would be more of a concern, then again he’s a yer older.
He won the guineas on his fourth start having been unbraced at two, the SJP might have come a little too soon. Going into the Guineas which he won at 16/1 was a big step up on form and to put back to back G1’s together is tough. Doing the Guineas and SJP double is also rare. If you look at Alyanaabi he’s been beaten 3 times by Rosallion, a good yardstick. 5L over 7f in the Pat Eddery @ Ascot. 4 3/4 by Notable Speech 1m with Rosa just behind. 4 3/3 by Rosallion in the SJP Noble Court was well behind Alyanaabi that day and didn’t give his running. So looking there wasn’t that much improvement from Rosallion next time out, raced first time up in the 2000. In the SJP he had a charmed ride on the inside and had Henry Longfellow to aim at. The race fell perfectly. Another question arises, were they both the best of their generation? They’ve faced one that didn’t race against them at 3 in Lead Artist, next up Sardinian Warrior and the older horses. All this throws up lots of questions and I think who goes when will also be important. Buick kicked early in the Guineas and I believe his mount had the more potent turn of foot of the two. But and it’s a big but, there’s new blood and form to reverse and others who also love the track. I didn’t have a sweating moji to add! |

Ran twice @ Ascot - no win.
Ran three times against colts - no win. Ran in seven group 1’s - no win. This headline from the post helps: She recorded a Racing Post Rating of 121 in the Middleton – 3lb higher than the previous year's winner and subsequent Arc heroine Bluestocking. |

Is White Birch a certain runner for the PoW? Is the ground (g/f) to his liking? 8/1 is pretty tempting if the jockey does not only run for luck.

Do you fancy him Leano to do so? If he’d of come here without the Derby prep and outing I’d not write him off as others have been. Both see out the mile strongly and Buick has the experience in the saddle around here.
Field of Gold won a poor Irish Guineas and the times might have been great but Charlton went into that after the time boys said that Cosmic Year would have been close in the English Guineas. They forgot to say up to 7f!! The 7f Jean Pratt awaits him next. Impossible White Birch didn’t show last year because of the ground, make of it what you will. |
|
By:
White Birch had some issue last year, were'nt the ground that kept
him away. |
|
By:
White Birch is priced as if he's an unlikely runner. The price discrepancy between hime and Los Angeles is too mega to make sense. A bit of rain may help his course of running.
|
|
By:
Here’s something I found him Impossible and you’ll notice the difference this year. (Note only had two starts)
The Prince of Wales’s Stakes is the obvious next step, but he is not yet committed to Royal Ascot. “We’ll see how he is now,” says George, “and we’ll talk to the owners and make a plan. He has had three races in five weeks, and it’s a long season ahead. We have options, but we’ll take our time before making decisions. I’m not sure what his best distance is, there is no doubt that he stays a mile and a half, but he is obviously very good over ten furlongs too. We have lots of options, it’s a lovely position to be in.” |
|
By:
*on him
Also this when discussing ground, George Murphy could feel the nerves as he watched White Birch make his way across The Curragh to the 10-and-a-half-furlong start. The colt was about to run in the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup, one of the most important middle-distance races in the early part of the season, and had a leading chance. “I was thinking that the reason I was so nervous, probably more nervous than I had been before any of his previous races, was because we thought he was going there with a big chance,” says George, assistant trainer to his dad John. A smattering of rain fell, but it wasn’t really a factor in George’s mind. Rain or no rain, it didn’t matter. There is this notion about that White Birch is at his best when there is a cut in the ground and, indeed, it was heavy when he won the Ballysax Stakes on his debut last season. But it was good to firm when he finished second in the Dante last year, beaten a neck. And it was good to firm when he finished third in the Derby. |

I believe Burrows is confident TMB as it was his first start of the year and he is also a very good horse, often underrated.
Let’s hope they all show and it makes another classic running of this great race. Amnat worth reminding ourselves of his form. Runs 14 Wins 8 Seconds 4 Thirds 1 His one blip in the Prix Dollar when 5th - which meant he went off at a ridiculous price of 40/1 for the Champion Stakes ![]() I’d love to own one like him. |

He’s one that you don’t want to get into a fight with - as Junko found out in the Dollar.

It’s irrelevant but this Ai does turn up some odd things when searching for articles!
Not there yet this stuff! |

There you go John,
unbeaten filly supplemented for the Coronation Stakes as confirmations and entries for day four are made… |

AI is useless for horse race history. I asked a question yesterday and it gave me a laughably wrong answer.
Two fillies added to the Coronation.. The French filly isn't as dominant as they thought she might be, she has to be ridden out. The Commonwealth Cup could resurrect itself as a proper gr. 1 this year, after threats of demotion. It looks a really good field if Shadow of Light turns up too. I'm disappointed Lady Iman isn't running in any 2yo race. |

An impossible meeting, but I love to have a go and pick out my selection for each race, which I shall do here. As Tom Segal once said elsewhere, many years ago mind... ''I'm a tipster, not a punter''.. so in my case they don't have to win.

By:
Been my favourite betting meeting for ages and the Queen Anne probably my favourite race . less so this year as field too small for draw to play a real part . But hopeful for a three figure price or two on the machine in the Coventry and similar in the Kings Stand .

It might be a small field but looks better than recent years Paul.

Graffard says that Map of Stars is flying, the market has him shorter than Gosden’s but he’s already beaten him at Longchamp.
Second that day was Heads Start of Day 16/1 for the race before the POW on Wednesday. The pundits on ITV were luring about the 4/1 Falken Angel in that race but French filly was only 1 1/2 or so behind her in the L’Opera. Makes you wonder if the look at form?!?? ![]() Map of Stars 9/2 Ombudsman 6/1 In a more competitive race on paper. Heads Filly double digits, though Lemeiture isn’t a jock I’d say I trust! ![]() |

I noticed the Japanese horse meisho whatever who was 5th in the Dubai turf won last night. Maljoom was ahead of him in that and has nice form beaten
1 1/4 behind Soul Rush. 1 1/2 behind Notable Speech last year at Goodwood. 2 1/4 by Quddwah over c&d Hope the last named goes bigger than the current 25/1. Of course Haggis has a line then for Lake Forrest who continues to shorten. |

Meisho Tabaru was a good winner of that gr 1 making all the running and quickening well away from them.. he's not reached that level before.. the 2nd had good form. I don't like that race too much as it's by public vote who runs or not.. looked more like a gr. 2 by our standards.
Fallen Angel needs this drop in class, she's had some tough assignments. Do you think they will take a chance and send She's Perfect for the Coronation? she's still in it and nothing surprises me with these connections. |
