Very poor from mine, couldn't even get the place money. Doubt we saw the Guineas winner there.

Hi Figgis,
I'm sure when you say 'the Guineas' you mean Newmarket. Maybe Scorthy Champ could run well in the Curragh Guineas. His price on the last day 14/1 on course didn't bother connections as he was well fancied and is also well regarded by connections. |

Hi JTOTD, it was an ok performance. If he repeated that I could see him placed in an average Irish Guineas.

Long way off yet but I've been impressed by Godolphin's
Ancient Truth.Beat Wimbledon Hawkeye just as easy as the current jolly,The Lion In Winter did @ York.Dewhurst entry, wins that could become the new mkt leader.I think this is a very good colt. |

Seagulls Eleven did the form no harm next time out, either, Penzance

The Acomb form keeps getting boosted

In 2022 it was Auguste Rodin; 2024 City Of Troy; 2025 The Lion In Winter? The last named has options in the Dewhurst Stakes (6/4) and Futurity Trophy (3/1).

Saturday's Dewhurst should be a cracker even though a smallish field
if they all go with Shadow Of Truth supplemented.Doubt if O'Brien will run all 5,will he? Will be a quick turnout for the Longchamp Wnr Camille Pissarro. |

The Lion In Winter had been my highest rated 2yo colt until Shadow Of Light blew that York performance away going up a whole new level in the Middle Park. I reckon the performance was already good enough to take an above average Guineas, but that's assuming he'd stay. On breeding you'd think it would be a formality, so there has to be a big question mark over why Godolphin have so far kept him to sprints. After the Middle Park the talk was about next year's Commonwealth Cup. It's also a quick reappearance after such a big effort, although they're confident he came out of the race well.

Well SOL won but that was a big drop in level compared with the Middle Park run. Possibly he wasn't as effective on the ground and possibly the run came a bit soon. Despite him getting up late I'd say it was more his superior ability that got him the win rather than stamina, and personally I see his future to be more likely over sprints.

Bit of a messy race today with the 5 rnrs splitting. Not giving
up on Ancient Truth looked to be going well when a lack of a run might have told in the end.Took a lot away from the race with Lion In Winter missing the gig. Figgis wd GL. |

Penzance, thanks but didn't have a bet on the race

If you take Shadow Of Light & Ancient Truth's runs yesterday as more
or less running up to the level, the rnr up,Expanded, has ran a stormer on only his 2ND start off a weeks break.Wonder how much superior The Lion In Winter is to him? |
By:
If I was a backer of Lions In Winter, I would be very concerned over his wellbeing.
He was impressive at York, and the form has a very solid look to it. But not going to the National Stakes and the Dewhurst points to him obviously having problems. |

one at a backable ew price .......twain a wide margin debut winner who went off a big price may not have shown a massive amount at home compared to others in the yard but he is probably one who does it on the racecourse which is no bad thing . pitched straight into group company 8 days later in the grand criterium hints that they realised this one could be more than useful ,held up he quickened past a stablemate and a joseph o,brien big money sales race winner apples and bannanas going away at the end and value for more should improve .
aob subsequently said "he is a bit special and obviously a guineas horse and we will put him away for the winter . now i know he says this about many of his good uns . 16/1 with most firms looks very fair ew imo. selection twain ..16/1 ew good luck opinions encouraged. |

Have given up on antepost bets on the flat.
Had a nice bet on City of Troy for the 2000 guineas only to see it run like a claimer. Then it proceeds to win everything. Last good antepost bet was Shadeed 7/2 after winning the Craven. Won 2000 at 4/5 with Piggott up. Can't rely on anything these days. |
