It is a disgrace and I agree if this happens. All those interviews where he sits there smiling and tells you that they’re doing well on target, when not hiding behind his shades! Slippery lot!

If Delacroix is an absentee there's nothing at York next week I'll be looking forward to seeing; Field Of Gold is injured. The English and Irish Flat season are over.
Just bring forward The Arc and the King George at Kempton. |

By:
I thought he was lucky to win at Sandown and with Whirl having course form can see why they’re doing it, add that to what he said about Delacroix having won twice at Leopardstowmn, they must think that the track will suit more there.

when was the last time a trainer or jockey gave a winner pre race ,im not talking about oh he should be thereabouts or in the mix etc , its all after the race ...the only one who ive read that has put up a really strong case for one of his is simon dow who was really strong on one of his pre race more or less said we think it will win , everything is in its favour ........it went in at around 13/2 iirc

You’re not making excuses for them are you?

When asked he ONLY ever mentioned that two horses were being trained for the international, both colts. One took an age to tell the public that it was injured and retired.
When asked Mr. Fabre re: Pour Moi - do you think he’ll win the Derby? - answer YES! |

Aidan O'Brien says Delacroix 'on York programme' not Glorious Goodwood path
The Ballydoyle trainer confirmed the Coral-Eclipse Stakes winner will head to the Juddmonte International despite bookmakers' slashing his odds for the Sussex Stakes on Thursday David Yates Chief Racing Correspondent 17:35, 17 Jul 2025 Aidan O'Brien insists Delacroix remains on course for next month’s Juddmonte International - despite a wholesale gamble on the Coral-Eclipse Stakes hero for the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. But O’Brien stressed the Knavesmire on August 20 - he is set to be joined in the York line-up by Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) victor and Eclipse fourth Camille Pissarro - is still next on the Dubawi colt’s to-do list, Whatever way you dress it up - it’s all billybullshine! Disgusting. |

No answer Foyles? The Aga Khan rep said they were playing for a place today, seems honesty is lost on that particular outfit!

I think backers of Delacroix will need to brace themselves for an imminent announcement about the welfare of the horse. The market from 3.65 to 7.6 (matched at 8.6) is indicating something unsavoury might have happened to him or possibly a U-turn on his participation here.

If you look at the article posted it’s dated 17th July the Eclipse was run on the 5th and he’s still talking about Camille Pissaro being in the Juddmonte reckoning. This is the horse retired because of a fracture. So how long did that take to come to light? It really is disgusting the distain that they treat everyone with. 'Extremely classy' French Derby winner Camille Pissarro retired after suffering career-ending injury in Coral-Eclipse Published on 13 August 2025inIreland Last updated 08:45, 14 August 2025 O'Brien told the Racing Post: "He pulled off a shoe in the Eclipse and Christophe came in afterwards and said he was leaning left, that something was hurting him. He was sore in front after the race, too, so we had him x-rayed but nothing came to light. "We got him to undergo scans after that and they have shown that he has a hairline fracture in his fetlock so he has had to be retired." Camille Pissarro given second-lowest rating of any Prix du Jockey Club winner since 2010 by French handicapper Published on 2 June 2025inFrance Last updated 19:06, 2 June 2025 He was still working in the 17th of July? ![]() |

I’ve seen he’s their only runner, strange the big move for Whirl yesterday and it still doesn’t answer why it took so long to tell people of the wellbeing of Pissaro.
I suppose if Lucy Bronze can play the whole euros with a broken tibia then it’s possible he was cantering away prepping 12 days after the race in which he lost his shoe which caused the said fracture! |

By:
Surprised that Godolphin aren't running Ruling Court in this.
Ran well in the Eclipse when not getting the best of runs. Still think he's got a GP1 in him. |
|
By:
He was due to run at Deauville this weekend in the Group 2 won by the Japanese colt and there’s been no news on him whatsoever.
|
|
By:
Lots of talk on here about the French and Japanese runners but I still don't know where it's all heading. Has anybody actually backed these runners, or even have any intention of backing either of them?
|
|
By:
Would you prefer the news on them not to be shared? It’s news that’s not on the post or very slow forthcoming when it does.
Questions have been asked about the Eclipse and if we are to trust the form also. |

By:
Well that was a positive response!

I cannot remember the market was proven definitively wrong about Delacroix; Lambourn was expected given his skinny price antepost.
I'm happy Whirl has been scratched. This probably means she'll be Prix Vermeille bound on 7th Dept. |
|
By:
Well we know the field what’s the thoughts? Be good to have them in before the day of the race.
I’m all ears … |

I came to the opinion that in the Eclipse plans were aborted and they felt that they were lucky to win the race. Why? We’ll watch the end part and see the conversation between Moore and Soumi if you have it recorded on ITV. Expressions straight after are very telling and Moore seemed to look as if to say wth happened there?!
Soumi had said he felt he’d of won had he not lost the shoe after turning in. I can’t see where exactly it happened but can see the colt hasn’t one after the line. A lot was made of him keeping Moore in and I feel that if things had gone to plan Moore would have led trying to set it up for Soumi. Will it matter as to the result at York? I don’t know but I don’t trust the form from Sandown. |
|
By:
Where Delacroix was he'd have virtually no chance of winning. As such, I think Delacroix will confirm Sandown placing with Ombudsman despite 3lbs worse off. The flies in the ointment are the French and Japanese runners. Either winning could have a bearing at Longchamp on Arc day, I reckon.

By:
See the fire for me at the prices. The front 2 in the market look impossible to split & Id be tossing a coin. I’ve therefore defaulted
to a win only dart on Baldings hoss to put a line through the farce at Goodwood on shocking ground & emulate her Mother on ground & army a course she clearly loves. Best of luck to anybody playing! |

I'm not bothered either way. Well we know the field what’s the thoughts? Be good to have them in before the day of the race. Without volunteering your own? |

I think Ombudsman has more speed than Delacroix and in principle he should beat him today, and I would imagine he'll be too speedy for Danon Decile too. See The Fire is just not up to this class for me. I just hope Ombudsman gets a patient ride and is ridden for late speed rather than tryng to steal first run.

Hi Howellsy
It's a grey area whether the form would've been higher given a faster run race. Possibly Delacroix would've won by further, but we also might have seen a better version of Ombudsman. At the moment I'm keeping an open mind but sticking to taking the race at face value That's what I posted after my losing Ombudsman bet. I'm generally reluctant to make excuses for beaten horses, especially ones beaten after getting first run. But looking at the race again after more time has passed I'm now of the opinion that Ombudsman probably would've won comfortably given a truly run race. Initially I was generous with my allowance that day but now I believe the race was an even slower time performance than I'd rated. It's true that usually the horse getting first run gains an advantage in a slowly run race, but ultimately it also depends on which horse can run faster splits off a slow early pace. A lot of people thought Ombudsman was flattered by a pace collapse in the POW but I thought, if anything, it was possible he could've shown even better form if getting a clear run sooner. That said, I wouldn't take improvement for granted when evaluating his chances today. As things stand, I don't rate any of these up to a typical Gp1 winning figure for this race, but Ombudsman comes closest (about 4lbs short). Even if Ombudsman only repeats his POW effort I reckon the opposition will need to run faster than they ever have before to beat him. I can see why some will see him too short to back but I'd have him no bigger than evens today, so I've backed him. |

Daryz is friendless. He's 17.5 here.

Ante-post_betting
In horse racing and greyhound racing, an ante-post bet is a bet placed before the horse/greyhound racing course's betting market has opened. |

2 probable selections in two races, and I chose the wrong ones each time eg Lambourn and Delacroix. This is horseracing.

I think Coolmore has taken a hit with their principal horses today ie Lambourn and Delacroix. Both have bombed and beaten with no excuse for either.

Lambourn was over fit if anything, despite the trainers comments.
