can see why Loving Spirit is being backed - with Tarts 5lb claim he's about 8lb better off with those that finished ahead of him in the Buckingham Palace stakes
Tony Calvin has tipped him up in his column and there's lots of money to back and lay, so could be wise price too might have to have a saver |

It is PW judo
Tom Segal's Saturday selections »Ascot 2.40 Intrigo, 3.15 Loving Spirit + Hefner »York 3.30 Baccarat. Quite keen on Compton tbh and backed a 33s earlier - a few bob for it now Form at Ascot 4-1-4 so like it here The 4th being in the Brittania off 92 and the other a competitive apprentice hcap where it ran against a lot of these and is pretty much weighted to beat em all here! Is a CD winner last year and 2lbs below that winning mark here Drawn in 28 which as we know will either b very good or very bad so thats the lottery as ever!A drop of rain would nt go astray either but the price is v fair |

what I can't understand is various professionals tipping Field of Dream who is 5lb worse off with Es Que Love for a beating him a length. If you had taken 5lb of EQL in the Bunbury Cup there is no way Field of Dream would have caught him. All things being normal, like the draw and track bias, if they run to the same form Field of Dream can't beat EQL
yet some have napped it. Strange imo and he is 6yo which is a major negative in this race |

The first race at Ascot was won easily by a horse who made all suggesting the ground is like a road and it will be hard to come from behind.
As well as my inevitable bet on Loving Spirit (who can't win ) I've thrown a few quid on The Confessor @ 50 and Dubawi Sound @ 55 |

massive gamble on Queensberry Rules, into 7.4
Es Que Love into 9/1 |

Another great run from Loving Spirit - looked like he couldn't quite get out when he wanted too. Shame the rain never came.
Been a bookies benefit so far at Ascot today. ![]() |

Ground like a road as you say Unclepuncle, Loving Spirit in the corresponding handicap he finished 2nd in on Champion Stakes day is his race. Monster performance today given the better pace seemed high and the ground was so fast

dunlaying 26 Jul 13 11:12
Two outsiders to consider given the prospect of rain. I felt Galician won last week in spite of the ground , not because of it, and she could be ahead of the handicapper. Rebellious Guest would appreciate some cut .There are several ways to read his Jersey form but some interpretations make him out to be a betting proposition. I am backing Rebellious Guest @ 40/1 or better and I will save on Galician. What an interesting race it is! Hope u backed it ![]() |

On the basis that you did dunlaying. Well done. Excellent tipping !

I would not dream of putting them up without backing them, but it was a winner by default as I expected rain.Thank you anyway.
However, even though she won nicely today I still feel that good ,rather than fast, conditions would see her to best advantage. |

She broke the course record no? Hard to say that now. Well done.

wd dunlaying.
although I think Galician certainly acts well on fast ground at ascot. Course record here today and 2nd to Mince over 6f at Ascot last year in another course record. |

And when she races on good ground I think we will see how good she really is.But racing is about opinion Stevie so stick to your guns and I will stick to mine.
All the best. |

I'm sure Loving Spirit will be aimed at the big handicap on Champions Day - presumably they won't want to win a small race in the meantime as it will put his handicap mark up (he'll probably go up a couple of lb's for Saturdays effort anyway).
Thinking longer term he strikes me as an ideal type for next years Lincoln - a fairly easy straight mile, big field h'cap on ground that won't be like a road. Anyone want to lay me 100/1. ![]() |
