Planet of Sound won't run on soft (heavy) ground. Teaforthree is in the Rehearsal and will be having a Welsh National prep regardless of the race they plump for.
By:
What does everyone expect the ground to be with no rain forecast between now and Saturday according to the met office? Good to soft?
By:
I reckon it'll still be soft, especially after 2 days racing. Could actually be quite tacky, very tiring ground
By:
Fav on the drift on here, will he run?
By:
Any news on Bobs Worth? Do we think he will run?
By:
Who knows Judo it is Henderson allegedly having look at Newbury today which mut be heavy at present given all the rain.
By:
Would be very surprised if he didnt. 2 reasons, 1 with hardly any more rain forecast between now and Saturday it should dry the ground up nicely, soft at worst i would imagine and 2 they got no where else to run. But who knows with NJH, hope for the race he runs.
By:
just have to wait then
do you think he is likely to run in the KG? suppose that will depend |
By:
cannot see bobsworth ever going right handed again, trainer has just said he prefers left handed as we all knew anyway.
By:
Frisco Depot for me...
Very well handicapped, travelling very well until it fel 3 out at Ascot and trainer said he would improve for that run (was heavily backed on course at the last minute from 8s into 5s), low weight and won't mind if it is soft as most opf his racing was in soft/heavy ground in Ireland. |
By:
yes Budd I can't believe they will run him at Kempton especially with Long Run and Riverside Theatre to represent the yard. Will certainly help my KG analysis if I just eliminate him
By:
i think you can eliminate him Judo, and another thing for me is i would certainly hold my bets till i know if any Irish are coming over, they could possibly be in a different league.
Its a great race potentially, and for me a non event as far as antepost is concerned. Its full of what ifs, particularly as re last years novices, doubts with non stayers, doubts with the ground. Im going to wait for the day,see whats running and then weigh it all up,and pick the winner ![]() Hope your hard work pays off for yer Judo. |
By:
I've done remarkably well over the years with my hard work so I know it pays off and as I am retired it gives me stuff to do
By:
well hard work should be rewarded.
got another few years working till i can put my feet up,talking of which - lunch over. |

Racing Post @Racing_Post
Nicky Henderson worried about heavy ground for Bobs Worth and says there's "an element of doubt" about Hennessy favourite running at Newbury |
By:
Racing Post @Racing_Post
Henderson will walk the course at Newbury today but does not expect to make a decision on Bobs Worth's participation |
By:
Hard to see it drying up significantly imo.
It's soft, heavy in places and the clerk likes telling a porkie pie or two so it'll probably be heavy, soft in places. Showers forecast for today and possibly tomorrow. Clear and bright Thursday/Friday/Saturday but it's going to be cold which won't help conditions improve. Soft at best for my money, and there'll be two days of churned up soup to race on. Most gruelling Hennessy in years on the cards. |

ta for the info
By:
Henderson will walk the course at Newbury on Tuesday but does not expect to make a decision on whether Bobs Worth, who will get an entry for the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on December 28, will run in the Grade 3 chase.
By:
Surely it'll be heavy at Leopardstown for The Lexus and he'd have a long trip to get over when a race this week would give him plenty of time to recover for the spring.
By:
gonna be soft or heavy anywhere rest of this year by the looks of it.
Thing is if Hendo is having doubts but he runs anyway,he cant be punted on,can he? |
By:
already been labled cluless,so here,s my twopeneth worth, wont bobsworth have to improve his jumping by 100% against some seasoned handicappers, was very novicey and sketchy in all his novice chases
By:
his jumping during the season was rather iffy i agree, but it was a lot better in the RSA.

Thing is if Hendo is having doubts but he runs anyway,he cant be punted on,can he? Budd, I totally agree with you. This wet weather has changed everything imho. Can you see Barry G roughing up the beast going over the last to try & get a win [Destroying the horse for the rest of the season?]. Following NJH over the years I seriously expect Bobs worth not to run on Sat. The vibes for Darlan was exactly the same scenario 2 weeks ago. NJH was making all the negative noises & then pulled the horse from the 'Greatwood'. Because he actually cares about his horses, there welfare always comes first. Again, I will be very surprised if it turns up on Sat - But it would be nice if the AP'a got a run for their money. |

Bobs Worth back on target for Hennessy bid
BY RODNEY MASTERS 7:00PM 27 NOV 2012 BOBS WORTH, whose participation in Saturday's Hennessy Gold Cup was temporarily put on hold on Tuesday over concern about the ground at Newbury, was back on target to run after Nicky Henderson checked out conditions for himself. The trainer continues to have doubts about how the big-race ante-post favourite will handle going that remained soft, heavy in places on his first start of the campaign, but concluded that last season's RSA Chase winner would "probably run" after walking the track. Earlier in the day Henderson had told a media gathering that there was "an element of doubt" over the participation of Bobs Worth, who had done everything asked of him in a work session at Seven Barrows on Tuesday morning However, following his visit to Newbury it is Roberto Goldback who is the more likely absentee as a result of the ground. Henderson said: "It's soft ground with some heavy patches but taking it with the balance of the last two weekends at Cheltenham and Ascot I'd say it's not as tough as those. It's quite difficult to read. Some patches will ride very soft and others won't be too bad. "I have spoken to Malcolm Kimmins, who heads up the owners' syndicate, and the gut feeling would be that we probably would run all things being equal. I put out a warning this morning because I wanted there to be one. I'm not comfortable about it, I'm not convinced he goes in it and Barry's not sure but we are a bit short on alternatives. "Roberto Goldback would be almost certain to run in the two and a half mile race on Friday. I think he wants good ground, not a slog in a bog. It's going to be very testing." |
By:
ta good news

glad i aint backed him!! |
By:
OK so Camelot may have left his season at the Irish Derby. But Bobs Worth, has proven his strength and resolution, is a 7yo and will have 4 months to get over any exertions, really don't see a problem running on Saturday other than him not performing to his best. Long term for the season not an issue
By:
Hendo is full of sh*t. I wouldn't believe a word he says.
Bobs along with First Lieutenant are the two class horses in this race. Ground a concern yes, but it's a big bunch of average after those two tbh. |
By:
BTW I've backed Bobs Worth 6/1 & 5.8, Saint Are ew 16/1, First Lieutenant @ 28.0, Duke of Lucca @ 44.0 and Diamond Harry 34.0
By:
bobsworth will be bigger on the day,or should be after those comments, thats if he runs.
anyone who backs him now is mad imo. |
By:
tidal bay at 18,duke of lucca at 26 for me so far.
will have another look on the day. |
By:
Looks like Saint Are is gonna miss the gig.
By:
Was prepared to believe that Fruity was going to defy JOCI's stats and then I see Ben Hutton has tipped it on RP - gutted, kiss of death
![]() |
By:
Aye liam, no money up to back. But yet to read any comments about him being pulled. Could be pulled in the morning.
There goes my first AP bet |
By:
U and me too !
By:
magnanimity has got some decent form in ireland in slow ground and has no weight carrying 10.3 on saturday ,been running in mainly graded races and goes well on heavy beating jessies dream a couple of seasons ago 15.5 on here and around 14s in the shops he should relish the trip and a slog in the mud .MAGNANIMITY 1pt each way
By:
Foyles - I can't have any of the novices from 2 seasons back, they are all terrible. NOTHING from that season has done anything. Saint Are seems a different horse at Aintree in spring also, won't the ground be too soft. Still think Bobsworth will go close and may have a saver on the day, but Flight Lieutenant seems much better in spring at Chelt. Still happy with Duke of Lucca and Alfie Spinner both at 25/1. Love Tidal Bay, but surely not off 166.
By:
dont worry about the weight shock,he wont let that bother him,hes in the mood these days and is a class act when he is.he wil love conditions saturday and the distance is ideal, big chance mate.
anayone know much about the irish horse?,around 70's on here, and looks to be a soft ground horse.just had a couple of bob on him. |
