Actually, there's a list above me with those three running. Needed Grandouet to chip in as well.

Larkhill cancelled too. Just going to have to stay in and watch the ball hit the crossbar. Damn snow, it was fun for a few days but now it's just a mess.

I'm up to 1823rd with 395pts.

Can't see me getting into the money unless I win 7 races at The Festival on one line.

I think I'll only do a few entries on the flat.  The prize will be rubbish anyway and I don't like how they are running it.

They need to try Grands Crus over much shorter I think.

Doesn't seem the most resolute horse anymore, and being allowed to bowl along over a shorther trip might see him to his best advantage, and maybe on better ground (if we ever get it).
Report REM January 27, 2013 5:34 PM GMT
Well a surprising 23rd in the mini, despite two poor selections, but then again I only gave it 10 mins thought.

Absolute pants in the main comp, despite studying for days.

Might try to plot something if they have another mini comp for Chelts.

They need to try Grands Crus over much shorter I think.

When Grands Crus won the Feltham the going stick was 7.7 (good) and he was at the limit of his stamina with both SC and Bobs closing, the chase course was running 20 lengths faster than the hurdle course that day. He was beaten 6 lengths by Bb's at Liverpool on g/s ground but less than 2 lengths on good ground at the Chelts both 3m hurdles.. All his best performances have come on decent ground,  his two runs this year have been on attrocious.

I think you hit the nail on the head Joci

I said to a mate before the Argento, I was torn between wanting the points on the board for Grand Crus or seeing him as a blatant non-stayer and subsequently ending up in the Ryanair... Just have a horrible feeling the trainer/owner will carry on regardless and try to make him a Gold Cup horse

That said, he seemed to be staying on well at the end of the KG - don't know what to make of any of the horse's runs this season...??

Report aft March 2, 2013 11:42 PM GMT
I see that it is a completely different list of horses (from the main competition) to include most (if not all) potential Cheltenham runners.
Whilst this is much to the benefit of the new competition, I do think that they should have highlighted the fact as it represents a volte face from the previous Mini Comp and many may not realise this unheralded departure until coming to enter their selections (possibly after spending much time working upon the reasonable assumption that the Main list would continue apply).

Grand Crus probably sunk most lists. None of the top ten took any risks. They just had the right combination of horses. Well done to them.

It's not so much ten to follow as avoid the zero.

I think I'm with you REM. I've been entering the TTF since the very first one. Was lucky to win £6.8k for sixth place in the flat in 2005 when the winner won £160k. They have destroyed the competition and it doesn't hold the same interest for me anymore.

Note the lack of a Flat TTF thread here which was unheard of in previous years. I just wish that some other organisation would run a TTF and do it properly.
Report Chad Collins number wan April 9, 2013 6:18 PM BST
Top line 3000 ish.  Rubbish year for me, made the shortlist far too big (50) with the half price lines.  Also tried far too hard to include stupid handicap "wildcards" - got a few big points off the odd one, but should have done what the winners did and stuck to tight combos of the obvious.  Big comedown after being the top 100 all the way through last year's comp, and a top 10 at Chelt the year before!

Will play the flat for a few interest lines, but nothing on the same scale, and not running my syndicate for it.
