I have Toronado as well at 33s and hopefully will run well on Sat if declared.

OK fair enough... here is mine fwiw.
On pure form,, though the 2nd and 3rd from his maiden have run to a decent level, he obviously has masses to find. But in each race he was clearly the best horse and both at grade 1 tracks. Maybe bought into the trainer angle a little too much but I think he likes to run his better ones on debut at one of his local tracks. I also liked the way they spoke about the horse in so much that they were already looking to next year, thinking that anuthing achieved this year was a bonus. I only play AP for next year as a bit of 'fun' but at the odds available I thought he was a fair price. Saturday's race on paper looks very good and I wouldn't be too disheartened if was competitive if he got beaten as he will improve next year. Dundonnell showed a great burst of speed to settle the Acomb and he may be difficult to beat |

I have 4 figures on Dawn Approach at 16/1 and am happy after that he looks the real deal will be best at a mile.
Toronado looks made for the French Derby he will be perfect for 1m 2f. |

He's still 8/1 with laddies, which looks a massive price. Maybe they know that the horse will be removed from jim, at the end of the season.

Interviewed Jim, they are deciding after he has finished for the season so he is with him for the Dewhurst. He said he hopes he can stay with him. It would be wise for Godolphin to leave the horse in his normal routine at the stable he knows rather than move him to new surroundings with possibly a different training regime which surely would have a greater chance of having a negative rather than positive effect on the horses chances for next season.

Godolphin seem to have trouble rationalising in the way you suggest, eric but I agree with you, they should have thought this out years ago. If it wasn't for M .JOHNSTON filly
having a dished action when racing, they would have bought her and probably she would have bombed out, like some others. ATTRACTION, forgot her name whilst posting. |

Not been on the forum long enough to see all of Eric's previous but that post was truly tragic. Also was there really any need for billy big bollox about the size of the bet?
Anyway as far as Toronado is concerned, as well as he ran I would be surprised if he collected in May. The race time was significantly slower in contrast to the others on the card and to my eyes he didn't look like he would be quick enough. The connections seem to see him as a middle distance horse and plan to go for the RP Trophy next. At least he may start 2013 in the Guineas. Surprised to read the RP analysis of the race in relation to Dundonnell, in that the race wasn't run to suit and was trapped wide - it was a five runner race ffs. I thought he was a little disappointing tbh |

It would be impossible to mention what I have backed in the race if I hadnt first backed it. Money where your mouth is as the race is a long way off. If you didnt take the 16s which was available for a long time then you might want to check why not instead of berating someone who did.

I did highlight his post on the aftertiming thread as even by his own standards it was a shocker.  As for the 2,000 Guineas there's no doubt Dawn Approach is top dog and 8/1 is actually still quite appelaing - obviously the 'elephant in the room' is the Godolphin factor, if he leaves Bolger and goes to Dubai for the winter it will be a disaster. Even if he didn't go to Dubai but stayed in Newmarket under Godolphins care it would still be a major negative. Can't have Toronado I'm afraid, I;d expect Dundonell to be the better miler but he is in the care of Roger Charlton which is almost a sbig a negative as being with Godolphin when it comes to the Guineas. The one I quite like at 25/1 is Ashdan. He has a slightly high head carriage but he has definitely looked talented in his two runs doing his best work at the end of 7f. I haven't backed him yet but if he wins the Dewhurst or Racing Post on his next start I'll say I have 5 figures on him at 25/1.  |

Dundonnell was disappointing. He had no excuses from what I could see.
re Dawn Approach, well, plenty of us had big bets on this horse at Royal Ascot, we all posted our bets BEFORE the race. Now Eric is ****-a-hoop about a perceived bet that has not even collected yet. If Dawn Approach stays in Newmarket then im not sure that will save him. Lyric of Light and their other mains hopes stayed their during the winter and haven't been spotted since. This horse has to stay with Jim Bolger in Ireland.imo. |

Yes it was eric and I know because I made a point of checking before I posted - would have not referred to that price if it had gone.
Moreover in case you didn't know there's a website called 'Oddschecker' that you can compare prices on. That also gives a history of prices and when they change. Perhaps you could have looked at that before casting aspersions as will would have seen that 33s was available with Lads on the 15th |

Mars due to run in the Beresford at the end of the month. Looked good on debut but probably more of a middle distance prospect for next season.
I've got him ante-post for Epsom but I won't elaborate on that bet as you'll probably go off on one! |

Surely, using all the form lines available through Tha'lr Maxentius, Birdman and Olympic Glory - Toronado comes out a better horse than Dawn Approach. Don't forget DA was out in March and has an advantage over Torondo who did not have his first run till June 14th. While DA is clearly going the right way I do not see the evidence to assume he is better than Toronado. Richard Hannon has always said he believes T will be better as a 3yo in any case and I have no reason to believe he will go anywhere other than the 2,000 Guineas.

Dont rate Dundonell at all and he got close enough to Toronado to suggest the form isnt that good. Toronado like his stablemate Wentworth dont have anywhere near the pace of a Canford Cliffs for the Guineas they both look Racing Post Trophy horses.

Only just started reading this thread and already it's a pleaser. Great to see Eric back where he belongs,on the throne of King Bulls hitter. I have missed his fantasy world where he is a genius and we are all crap.

Thought Moohaajim looked very impressive there.
25-1 is a very fair price and had a little bit of that. Strictly on form there with Cougar Ridge and that's one's form with Leitir Mor is on a par with DA. |

Moohaajim showed a very useful turn of speed, You would have to say that he was at least as impressive as any winner of the Mill Reef in the last 10 years. I think if Kirby knew what he had under him he would not have panicked and barged his way out.

I was also impressed with Moohaajim and took some 25/1. The Mill Reef is normally a poor Group 2 but I thought beforehand it looked an intriguing race.
Bred to be a miler by Cape Cross out of a Kingmambo mare and I hope they go for the Dewhurst rather than the Middle Park - even if he finishes 2nd to Dawn Approach it will be a better education for next year. One possible worry, as always, is that Godolphin buy him. |

Botti says Moohajim will run in the Middle Park next.
Not my idea of the best way to prep a Guineas horse (think Rodrigo was the last Middle Park winner to go on the Guineas glory) so I'm hoping he wins well and I can lay off my 25/1. |

Moohaajim looked like one for Dubai but apparently his owner is starting to enjoy european racing a lot so horse is staying here which will please his guineas backers. On breeding you would say he'd get a mile easily but in the paddock I thought he looked like a sprinter tbh. Incredibly impressive and it didn't surprise me at all one of the best backed horses I've seen in a while on course. Plenty of big money went on.
I like him a lot but he just doesn't look a miler to me at this stage. I think Hannon has a very strong hand for next season. He seems to be getting horses with a bit more of a frame about them for the future. Toranado & Montiridge(looks far too big at 40s IMO) would be the stand outs from the yard followed by Olympic Glory and Wentworth. Aidan doesn't appear to have a miler for next season at this stage and a lot of his 2yos have been slightly underwhelming and struggled to get going. I guess the horrid ground they have had all season hasn't helped. Cristoforo Columbo looks his best chance at this stage. Mars is interesting but think he's more of a Derby horse and I was one of the few who couldn't get too carried away with his maiden win. The United States, Battle Of Marengo others I like but they should be better over 10f plus. Dawn Approach continues to improve which to say he started on the first day of the flat season (I think) is pretty incredible. He looks the part as well beautifully built horse and does remind you of his sire. I just hope he stays where he is to fulfil his potential. Trading Leather also looks highly promising after winning very impressively today. |

He may well turn out to be a sprinter but I'd be at least confident that they will have a go and that at least is half the battle. Uncle I wouldn't be worried about the Middle Park. Look at the list of the recent winners of the Guineas and they have come from all different races - who'd have thought that the winner of the RP Trophy would win a Guineas and Frankel won a Royal Lodge as a 2yo and that's hardly conventional. If he wins the Middle Park well then he will have beaten Reckless Abandon and to mind that will be top notch form. Of course he has yet to do that but I maintain that 25/1 is great value. I see you also like Ashdan uncle but surely this fellow deserves to be a whole lot shorter than him? |

I very much prefer Olympic Glory of all the Hannon 2yo's, at least 2000 Guineas wise.
Toronado looks less than speedy, solid and strong but does seem to be more of a stayer; I would be very surprised if he did prove good enough to be a Guineas horse. Montiridge has just scraped home in a 5 runner race and looks more of a decent handicapper than a classic horse. He's not bred very well either. Olympic Glory has been unbeaten aside from 1 race when a fast finishing second in the Coventry only about a yard behind Dawn Approach. He then won in an utter bog before coming from miles back when winning very cosily at Goodwoood in the Vintage Stakes. He is better than the bare form at Goodwood and has more to come. He is not short of foot, but has tons of stamina on the dam's side - his half brother (By King Charlemagne) stayed 10 furlongs. I expect his Guineas price to shorten after the Dewhurst. He seems sure to get a mile and looks the main danger to Dawn Approach in the Dewhurst. Of his others I like Wentworth but he has been struggling to win group 3's and he will need to progress very significantly to compete successfully at Group 1 level. |
