Skelton confirmed for Niche Market which presumably means Ruby on The Midnight Club . Paul Townend out of race with broken collarbone. AP comments suggest Synchronised might run - was his only alternative ride to Dont Push it according to yesterday telegraph. RdS, Dont see many options for Geraghty ...most at top of market jocked up now. Doesnt ride much for Mullins or JP so Nicholls third string probably better option than Elliots 2nd string but wonder is trainers title an issue. He has won on Roll along and In Compliance before ...wonder if Carl has been on the phone .

Mullins stated at Weights lunch that Dooneys would go, with Patrick jocked up as early as then. Don't know if that's been confirmed more recently.

Niche Market has an outstanding chance.Although disappointing in last years race he reportedly sustained an injury during the race and given that he gained experience of the fences, last year may not have been a totally fruitless excercise.
Now able to race off a weight below 11 stone as opposed to 11-4 last year versatile with regard to the ground and with the class and stamina to win an Irish national the final huge plus is that he is now in the care of the champion trainer as opposed to a trainer who has managed 19 winners under national hunt rules in the last two years combined. |

The Tother One doesn't strike me as anyone's "third string" - fair enough he hasn't finished fourth in a Gold Cup,
but the way he finished in the Hennessy was most eyecatching. Didn't run as bad a race as finishing position in the Argento might suggest either, and saved for this race since then. |

Nicholls has yet to decide on which of his jockeys will ride his two other possibles, Ornais and The Tother One

Spotthedifference - i'm quite sweet on State Of Play having backed him the last two years and getting a place return. He's campaigned lighter and lighter with no run at all this season, hoping the price will come out a bit and i'll have another small each-way on him this year.

Cannot see any comments about the Irish National winner and favourite for the Welsh National before removal for slight injury. Races off 10-4 , if it rains could be favourite on the day.

If State Of Play was going to win this race he would have done so by now imv. will be a good run for your money but can't see it winning

He's got a lower mark though, 3lb lower than last year, and also his Hennessy win. Age is fine it is just winning first time up, could have done with a couple of outings over hurdles first imo.
