Don't have the full timeline yet until he sees his specialist so hopefully he's back sooner rather than later. Andy Stewart won't be pleased either. He's said many times only Ruby knows how to ride Big Bucks.

Imagine given extend of injury would be until into the New Year minimum?
By:
Yeah AP in King George.
By:
Extent sorry, AP would surely suit Big Bucks re-above as on and off bridle?
By:
Would JP let Mccoy ride Kauto if Albertas Run takes his chance?
I wouldnt rule Ruby out of the King George just yet, but if he doesnt make it than Barry Geraghty would be my choice. |
By:
JP owns albertas run now?
By:
Trevor Hemmings owns Albertas Run.

Ruby defo won't be back for Dec 26 - AP on Denman in two weeks and then Kauto in the King George. Can't see Nicholls giving AP the ride on Big Bucks tho, Geraghty would suit the horse much better imo!
By:
Will be interesting to see who rides all of Nicholls' horses this season now. As sad as it is I can't see Ruby back any time this side of March.
By:
I would say Ruby's aim at this stage will be Cheltenham Festival.
A return for the Christmas period is a bit optimistic! |
By:
Just need a jockey that has the ability to steer.
By:
With Waley-Cohen more or less guranteed to ride Long Run, would Gerraghty be available in the KG, and if so do you think it might make Nicky Henderson either put a second horse in the race or put more pressure on the Waley-Cohen's to put BG up
By:
The Waley Cohen family won't budge.
And if I bought a horse and promised my son he could ride it, then he would. |
By:
Think Long Run needs to go close or win next Saturday, before King George, think Riverside Theatre/Mad Max may run with Geraghty on in King George?
By:
I think Timmy Murphy is the right jockey for Kauto, just think he'll suit Kauto more than AP. David Johnson won't have a runner in the KG, but probably would in the Hennessy though. If they do run in the Hennessy the easiest option would be Sam Thomas. He's ridden both KS & Denman so if Ap fancied switching...
By:
not sure APs style will help Kauto's jumping
By:
I think it will be McCoy or Geraghty.
Would say that Murphy would suit him well too, but it's unlikely. |
By:
I agree, just trying to work out the possible scenario's. I guess we'll probably have to wait until later next week to see whether they intend on going for the Hennessy or not. If not there's no real urgency I suppose
By:
the problem is big bucks ruby knows him inside out and u cant bully him like ap would attempt to . surely sam thomas wont be given the ride either barry will get it if henderson nor unner
By:
think the Riby factor is overplayed tbh. Of course he is an outstanding jockey/horseman but more often that not he rides for the best connections in the business and gets the best horse/plots etc. Im sure some other jockeys would just do fine on his respective mounts.
One or two more injuries though and we could have a shortage of top jocks. Choc Thornton out aswell. |

* ruby factor

By:
never underestimete the ruby factor
By:
Ruby knows Kauto inside out. The most gruelling handicap in the calendar is not the best place to introduce a new jockey to the horse conceding so much weight so pretty certain the Hennessy is off the cards now they wouldnt want to risk his safety in that. Those who have backed him for that will understand and put the horses interest first ahead of their bets here I'm sure.
By:
I mean he wasnt even declared on course for the race anyway, just being considered, so risky anyway tbh.
By:
paul Townend maybe?
By:
Townend great shout
By:
If they really wanted to go for the Henessy they would find someone else. We'll see. But it could turn out to be a convenient excuse for them imo.
By:
LOL ... thought not sintonian.
Those that have backed him for that will understand and put the horses interest first ahead of their bets I'm sure. |
By:
I've not backed him,Eric.
Not sure where you get off telling people what to think, either. I see you got into another argument on the Kauto Henessy thread. |
By:
If you mean by argument that I pointed out the same thing above on that thread and you dont like it because of your Hennessy bet maybe however I dont call that an argument I call it you are desperate to collect on your bet and dont want people pointing out the effect on Kauto in such a gruelling race of having a new jockey up.
By:
why are you saying i've had a bet ?
By:
its a long shot, but would like to see noel fehily put in the frame for the king george if rubys out.
think is style of riding would suit the horse! |
By:
No response from Eric

I would like to ask Ten2follow, if you own a possible champion whose potential could blighted because you think your son should ride it is that fair to the horse?
Also if a horse has jumping problems that could be life threatening do you stick by your son even if he shows he is incapable of riding a dodgy jumper? |
By:
Paul Townend would be good but I think he's going to be pretty busy riding the Mullins horses.
By:
Timmy Murphy for me, think he'd suit the horse more than AP.
By:
Timmy Murphy would be my first choice for both Kauto and BB but if unavailable I would go for Paul Carberry.
