for me, 3 horses that could make or break my ascot meeting are,

canford cliffs in the st james palace (irish win was breathtaking) elzaam in the coventry (looked very professional on his debut) and manifest in the gold cup.[smiley:crazy]

Look mate, doing this long run in this type of race will make you good money in the long run. Such as backing only 'bad e/way' selections in bad e/way races will also. Which is what i tend to now only do with bookies, i do not have bookies accounts, only using cash in the local shops, (i have 5 firms close by) so no chance of getting picked on, accounts closed or restricted!

If the betfair place price for a runner is less than the place price after taking into account the bookies place terms then it is a bet. I.e there are times where a bookies price on a selection is 4/1, with place terms of 1/5th, this equates to place only odds of 4/5, if on betfair the odds on this runner in the place only market is less than 1.8, it is a bet!

The only danger to this is sometimes you will find yourself backing more than 1 runner in a race, and other times you will be backing nearly all runners in a race. Thus staking accordingly to the prices is very important. Also, in the system, the fav' and the total rags are never betted on. You might say that that is the same as just laying the fav' on betfair in the win market, but trust me, this is only about 90% true, as doing it my way, your getting far better return long term!

good luck with this project STSPlain

unless your betting in pound notes per point...that sort of outlay per race would take some balls...

Can see where he is coming from in this particular race. Would take something very strange for at least two of them not to win/place. Wouldn't fancy doing it on every runner which was lower in place market on Betfair though.

STS that looks a very risky bet mate, have you heard of a horse called Dalghar who looks highly progressive? And how do you know what the actual to be placed prices of them all are?

Oh and how the hell you can dutch all 3 win and place STS I do not know. It would not surprise me at all to see something like Zacinto win it. I would not take his run in the Lockinge as true form as he was very unsettled b4 the race.

Jarvis - high hopes for Elzaam.

ELZAAM TEAM IN BULLISH MOOD

Michael Jarvis believes Elzaam will not be out of place when he tackles Pattern company for the first time in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

The Australian-bred colt made an impressive winning debut at York last month and has pleased his Newmarket-based trainer on the run-up to the big meeting.

"He's an interesting horse. He's Australian-bred and he's bred to Northern Hemisphere time, which is quite unusual," Jarvis told At The Races.

"He was sold at the Deauville yearling sales, he was sent to me and he's always been a nice colt.

"He worked well before York, won his maiden there very nicely and he has trained well since.

"Obviously it's the Coventry and will be the top two-year-old race next week.

"Apparently Richard Hannon's horse (Strong Suit) is very highly regarded and there are one or two other hot ones in there, but Elzaam is a very nice horse and I think he will give a good account of himself."

Hi Mythical, I don't agree with your Gold Cup selection, but the other two look good picks...I'll be laying Manifest as despite his poor form this yesr Age of Aquarius still looks the horse to be with....His run behind Harbinger at Chester decided me on this horse as a/ he was never put in the race with a true chance to win the race & b/ despite being very short on condition still ran on in a more than pleasing style. Sure you will enjoy the Royal Meeting. Are you attending any days this year?
