I know the flat season is in full flow and most of you don't care right now, but i'm just trying to get an idea of likely runners for the race

Any suggestions would be most welcome

sang bleu will win the arkle. nicholls yard all call it the machine
Report dananders May 31, 2010 5:26 PM BST
read an article on internet with nicholls from the times or the express were a journalist was following nicholls yard for 3 days and all the yard had hard ons on over this sang bleu and were all calling it the machine
Report dananders May 31, 2010 5:27 PM BST
tell u what the arkle will be some race though next year looks likely. mikael if fit will go rsa route think though. but peddles cross if go chasing will be mighty tough horse to beat
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 5:29 PM BST
Sang Bleu will not win the Arkle

hope this helps
Report dananders May 31, 2010 5:38 PM BST
what makes u so sure?
Report Princesse D'Anjou May 31, 2010 5:41 PM BST
It's been called the machine long before it got to Nicholls Dan - watch his debut.  Knocked over at the first hurdle, lost 15 lengths and still won what is traditionally the hottest Maiden Hurdle in Europe (won by Exotic Dancer, Azertyuiop, Master Minded and a top hurdler over the channel in recent years).
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 5:41 PM BST
Hyped up job got slammed by Me Voici at Chepstow Then was all out to Stars Du Granits, who isn't that good at Huntingdon next time out

Arkle is consistently won by horses with high class hurdling form, which Sang Bleu doesn't have
Report downallstar May 31, 2010 5:58 PM BST
Agree want a 140+ rated hurdler.
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:00 PM BST
very unexposed though fft. could be a major improver which ude exopect given the regard its held in. i remeber all the hype before chepstow where it was turned over bromley said best horse hes bought since big bucks . im gonna back him soon as priced come out because hell be found a couple ov novice races he can sweep up and will start 1 of favs next year with a bit of luck. still looked a bit weak to me last year .princess danjou never knew about its french form how many times it run? how much it cost any 1 know?
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 6:01 PM BST
IF, and a big if most of the likes of:

Medermit
Walkon
Mikael D'Haguenet
Fiverforthree
Get Me Out Of Here
Dunguib
Celestial Halo

Go for the Arkle, it will be some race. I realise there are question marks over the wellbeing of a few of those, but they were/are high class hurdlers. Sang Bleu has nothing like the form of those
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:02 PM BST
sang bleu was hardly given the chance to be a top hurdler really though was it
Report ReaseHeath May 31, 2010 6:04 PM BST
What about Time For Rupert?

I know he probably wants further but there is a precedent for long distance hurdlers going the Arkle route as novice chasers.
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 6:06 PM BST
Guess not dan, and no doubt you'll get a big price for him.

Like I said earlier historically the classiest hurdlers win this race, and although if SB had been given the chance he may have turned out to be one, i'd rather side with the proven ones

Reaseheath, TFR could well have the RSA at his mercy imo
Report ben10 May 31, 2010 6:08 PM BST
Where's this Dunguib chasing come from?
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 6:09 PM BST
just a suggestion of a potential chaser ben. Not saying he will, he probably won't, but if he does he'd be an obvious contender
Report ReaseHeath May 31, 2010 6:12 PM BST
Menorah? Restless Harry? Barizan?

Just flying kites - still find something very appealing about RH though (may just be wanting his connections to do well).
Report TD_Gunner May 31, 2010 6:14 PM BST
If Peddlers Cross goes chasing, I'd be very surprised if he didn't win the Arkle.
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:14 PM BST
i like the hobbs horse truckers delight is it? and i dont think sang bleu will be that big oof a price with all the talk about him theres been . ide be pretty confident hes a much better horse than celestial halo well hell turn out to be.
Report ben10 May 31, 2010 6:15 PM BST
Can't jump though Confused
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:16 PM BST
ey lads what a race this is going to be
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:18 PM BST
if i had dunguib ide be going chasing . seems like he has no respect for hurdles hes a clumsy fuker though but hes never fell so fences might focus him a bit
Report ben10 May 31, 2010 6:19 PM BST
Cousin Vinny had no repsect for hurdles apparently as well :|
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:23 PM BST
ide like to see blackstairmountain go chasing but i dont think mullins is keen 2 yet. walsh cant wait jump a fence with him i hear . the mullins hose wins the rsa quel esprit. walsh cant wait sir on that over fences
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:25 PM BST
flat racing is sh ite.
Report Far From Trouble May 31, 2010 6:30 PM BST
Agree with Gunny re: Peddlers Cross

part of me thinks that he'll be running in the Arkle in 2012 though
Report dananders May 31, 2010 6:35 PM BST
i heard peddlers they was thinking world hurlde. that would be a badmove wont stay and wouldnt beat big bucks if he did. i think hes got the speed and the class to be placed in a champion hurdle
Report ftm May 31, 2010 9:44 PM BST
if i owned peddlers it would be going rsa...im sure they will do whats best for the horse ,whatever they think thatl be.i wish them all goodluck ,and if half the horses mentioned on this thread so far ,turned up itd be a cracker!
almost worth getting ripped off, taken for granted again by cheltenhams rulers.

Any thoughts on Spirit River being an Arkle horse?
Report dananders June 1, 2010 7:04 PM BST
definitely could be. what a race
Report unclepuncle June 1, 2010 7:06 PM BST
Get Me Out Of Here and Oscar Whiskey are two I'm interested in - both bred to be chasers.
Report jetodd June 1, 2010 7:06 PM BST
Usually my favorite race of the meeting and it already looks like it could be a cracker!!
Report unclepuncle June 1, 2010 7:07 PM BST
Flat Out would be my Irish 2m novice to follow.
Report downallstar June 1, 2010 7:09 PM BST
The Jigsaw Man runs in wales at 7.30, rated 139 over hurdles, still unexposed over them too.
Was 2nd in that bumper i've been harping on about for nearly a year now(! Laugh ) to Loosen My Load.
If he takes to fences he would be an interesting outsider.
Don't forget last years winner started out in May, then had a break, then another break - all to avoid running on bad ground!
Report downallstar June 1, 2010 7:36 PM BST
That'll be a no! Laugh

Report Princesse D'Anjou June 2, 2010 4:39 PM BST
Dan - he was 1/1 in France they bought him a week after his debut and he joined Nicholls a week after that.  Nicholls bought the runner-up in the Pride of Kildare too - Tanerko Emery.
Report dananders June 2, 2010 5:59 PM BST
how much he cost you know mate?
Report Bobby Dazzler June 2, 2010 6:38 PM BST
Peddlers Cross will go for the Champion Hurdle
Report Princesse D'Anjou June 2, 2010 6:42 PM BST
Not 100% certain but from what I've been told they got very little change out of 200k (Euro).
Report downallstar June 2, 2010 6:55 PM BST
Will be Bobby? Thats the best thing for him imv.
Report Evertheoptimist June 2, 2010 8:18 PM BST
is that good info bobby? For me I would love to see him go for the arkle, think the race is made for him. As soon as he won the neptune I said straight away it would win the arkle next year and his win at aintree confirmed it for me. I can see the allure of him staying hurdling for another year, but as a winner of an Irish point, I would love to see him going chasing.
