If Blue Sea can win at that sort of price, then why not this, eh?
It would be great if I could return the favour for the guys on here who put me on the IGN winner.
You never know. :-)

No disrespect to his last partner but I couldn't back Mobaasher with an amateur on board at Cheltenham...definitely has his own ideas but this ground could be right up his street and back with Aidan Coleman on board he's my idea of the each way bet to be had

Was given Lothian Falcon months in advance for this race by the stable a couple of years ago and backed it at all sorts of prices, only for it to be pulled out on the Thursday due to unsuitable ground. Ground that then became perfect for the beast!!! Knowing that he was plotted up, am convinced I would've won large amounts. I compounded the error by then backing him e/w in his alternative engagement in Monkerhostins Whitbread, he faded into 5th. I cannot allow this horse to win without profiting, so will throw some good money after bad.

The lorry set off at 9am this morning to Ayr with Helen (driver), Ellie (lass) and Superior Wisdom (our great Scottish National hope!). It is about a 6 1/2 hour trip so they should be not far away now. We have taken him up a couple of days before just so he can get over the journey and be fresh. Our only worry is that the ground remains good, if it goes any faster than that then he may be a non runner, so fingers crossed.
Got on after FFT spotted it at 50/1, hopefully will still run.

well dont feel as bad now, had a little nibble at 160 on IT on ap market. Jumping greatly improved, only one unseat in last 12runs, and that only when he spat his dummy out over aintree fences. Ran well in 4th off in 2006 off 144, now 19lbs lower. Ground right and seems to have had this as target, best a fresher horse too. McCain wants to win the big ones, and amongst his staying chasers you would of thought he had a better contender than this, however, this clearly the objective imo.

Montrero must be of interest here for Desiie Hughes. Handicapped on 3 runs in novice chases at reducing trips he's a small horse but a good jumper with a preference for good ground. His second to Let Yourself Go giving weight over an inadequate 2m1f at Galway looks decent form now and his trainer knows a bit about staying chasers. He's had two piep openers over hurdles and should be spot on now. 33/1 looks very fair to me.

Ferdy Murphy is in bullish mood as Poker De Sivola bids to give him a fourth success in the Coral Scottish Grand National on Saturday.
The West Witton handler has saddled Paris Pike (2000), Joes Edge (2005) and Hot Weld (2007) to take the Ayr marathon, and this year's representative arrives on the back of victory in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham.
"We've had no problems with him since Cheltenham and everything is grand," said Murphy.
"He's kept on progressing. Graham (Lee) rode a couple of bits of work on him and has been very happy, so it's fingers crossed.
"The race has cut up a bit, but you still need a lot of luck with a lot of runners.
"He has a nice racing weight and we're lucky to be in the handicap really as if we'd had rain and Denman had run we wouldn't have been.
"It's going to be quite quick ground - I've got a good few horses who aren't running up there because of that - but this lad should be fine on it.
"He definitely has a decent chance and I think he's a justifiable favourite."
Owner Henry Ponsonby is confident his Grand Military Gold Cup winner Scots Dragoon has everything in his favour as he carries just 9st 7lb under top conditional David Bass.
"This hasn't really been the plan as when it looked as though Denman was going to run we had 7st 9lb," said Ponsonby.
"We were going to Perth next week but with Denman and one or two others defecting, it's really worked out for our horse.
"He won the Grand Military Gold Cup and the handicapper didn't put him up at all for that.
"The horse will love the quick ground and stays all day, so I'm quite bullish about his chances."
Andrew Parker believes the extended four miles will bring out the best in Merigo, who is bidding to keep the race in Scotland.
"The Scottish National is the race Mr (Ray) Green (owner) wants to try and win," said Parker.
"He stays very well - that's his main asset.
"He's won a couple of times up at Ayr, so he likes the course."
John Mackie is hopeful of a good run from Gidam Gidam, who is proven at the trip having won over four miles at Doncaster in February.
"He's in good form and we're looking forward to the race," said the Derbyshire trainer.
"When he first ran over four miles a couple of years ago we had the Scottish National pencilled in and the way this season has panned out it's dropped into place."
The Dessie Hughes-trained Montero is one of two Irish-trained runners in the field.
"He won three times in the autumn when the ground was good, then we put him away for the winter," said the County Kildare handler.
"He's only a novice but goes on good ground and he stays well, so he takes his chance and he's a good leaper."
Peter Bowen would like to see the weather stay dry for No Panic, whose stamina is unproven over this marathon distance.
"He's in good form so I just hope it stays dry for him," said the Haverfordwest trainer.
"Hopefully being 7lb out of the handicap won't matter too much. We've had this race in mind for him for a little while."
There were no withdrawals by Friday morning, which means first-reserve Fine By Me will miss the 30-runner feature.

Love Theatrical Moment, fine looking horse and has jumped well for a novice. I'm not convinced he'll appreciate four miles though. He finished rather tamely at Cheltenham.

That's Rhythm 32.0., can't believe the price on here. 6 lb higher than last year, but was travelling very well when falling. Will love the ground. Worried about that hurdle run last time, but trainer said...ignore, he needed the run. Odd though, he goes really well fresh, why didn't he come straight here.

Morning Chaps siralex to be honest it was a mate of mine that texted me it last night not sure hoe he got it. I wouldnt normally bother but thought cleni boy was a back to lay at 80s so did so and laid at 50s this morning.
TSS looks like we should have a good day for it today, the only down side for me is not being able to enjoy a pint up there :(

I'll wear the sackcloth and ashes if Poker de Sivola wins. It was flogged up the hill at Cheltenham and Ferdy really is a genius if he can bring this one off.

Posted 2 years ago: First Points meeting i went to this year. Their was a fair crowd there and plenty of runners. I also seen A.J. Martin also Paul Nicholls and Paul Barber were in attendance. Wille Burke had a couple of horses running For Barber** They were unlucky with one falling at the last with every chance of collecting but followed up with a winner in div 1 of 5 year old geldings race with a gangly looking Gelding called Meanus Dandy by Anshan out of a mare called Geray Lady whom if im right was 2nd in Gowran about 12 years ago to an A.P.O'Brien horse called Brave Fountain who won quite a few races afterwards. She was staying on at the end of her races so i think this Meanus Dandy when its grown into itself and gets running in N.H Rules would be one to look out for over 3m4f and above. It stayed on well today and i think it has the making of a National winner wether its the Midlands National Or The Grand National time

cant understand why killy so big - career best this time last year at aintree on similar ground, fair enough has the weight to carry, but 28s more than makes up for it.

Yeah backed Noll Wallop, fancied She's The Mark & had 2nd & 3rd in Irish Lincoln (only proper bets so far) - we can't go into any more confident, tbh
BRING IT ON

FFT, there are so many shrewdies (& it's growing all the time) & I am (genuinely) pleased if anyone nails a big winner - plenty of unkown (to me) forumites have popped on with thanks after certain winners, which is great. The More The Merrier imo

the Irish Flat season has started poorly for me, summed up when I didn't back Noll Wallop after fancying it. So am avoiding due to ground/stables non trying.
English flat season been better punting wise for me.

Must say I was at Aintree for the Topham, and when I saw Always Waining bounding towards me I thought the forum will be in absolute meltdown, but genuinely pleased, despite having done my conkers on the race :)

Well done all winners - superb tipping towards the close of the season. Just the Whitbread to sort out now before the summer hols (for us jumps boys at least)

Well done winners, still cant belive the trainer pulled the horse out last season saying the ground was to fim when my tank was on it. Then I didnt back him this year for that reason and he hosses in!

Have to admit you guys got me Merigo. I already had the horses to look at yesterday because of you guys, and as a season as a whole this forum has been excellent. Never forget the banter either, that's priceless too.

Ditto Abbott !! I was amazed they ran him this year and like you I thought the ground would be too quick for him :( I think that's the first time I've not backed him, he's won me quite a few quid in the past.
Very versatile horse who is an out and out stayer. Saw him in the paddock after the race and where poor No Panic was struggling (but thankfully ended up ok after a lot of buckets of water and a hose) Merigo was grand, took everything in his stride then literally bounced backed to the stables, amazing !!!

Managed to get on at 10's in running very very lucky, wish i had plums to back him all the way down there but was on him when he won couple of races previously and when he finds his rhythm he's unstoppable at a trip

What do you think about the 33/1 on offer for Merigo for GN? Trainer already said being aimed, handles any ground, stays and jumps well. I'm tempted to start putting a bit on him each week now. What u reckon?

You could do much worse than 33s for the GN. He stays very well and jumps soundly and any horse who does that should be a good bit shorter than 33s for Aintree.
The trainer says they're confident of getting in the handicap now and will probably give him a couple of spins over hurdles so he should have a nice weight.
He's also done most of his winning in the spring. With Comply or Die looking past it now, there must be a reasonable chance D Johnson will let Timmy have the ride too which would be a plus.
