Princess Royal Roof for me all 3 days-usually go for Prin Roy seats, but decided to scrimp a little this year :-) Staying in Southport as per the norm. 15th consecutive year this year...and it doesn't seem like yesterday since we first starting attending. Love the course that much I buy a season ticket now.

Only 1 bet for me so far for the GN, Ballytrim. First run this season not great but has an entry next week so we'll see about that one.

Been having a look at the market today, being drawn towards Big Fella Thanks. Arguably the one to take from last years' race; needs to brush up on its jumping though. 25/1 generally... any thoughts?

Will start doing some serious homework in two weeks. Like Church Island at the moment.

Does any body know if this is an intended target for Church Island? Fancied him for this ever since placing in the Irish. Backed him big for GN the following year, which I think he ended up being in original decs before being pulled out. Then did the same for last years. Was going to give up on him ever running in it but would be loathe to find out he was actually running this year and I hadnt backed him early doors for it.

Have put my money where my mouth is and backed BFT at 25s today... expect some would argue that it's a bit of a short price to being playing at this early. Kiss goodbye to Ballytrim me tinks... :(

At this point in time Mon Mome is going to be one of the favourites.

With just over 11 weeks to go until the 2010 John Smiths Grand National meeting gets underway (Thursday, April 8 -10), Aintree reported today that tickets and hospitality sales remain strong despite the global economic downturn.

As predicted, all seated enclosures have been very popular since going on sale in August (2009). However, selected grandstand seats are still available on all three days of the meeting, together with a selection of roof and terrace badges. Tattersalls tickets are available for all three days of the meeting.

PALYPSO DE CREEK will be given an entry in the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree in April as trainer Charlie Longsdon chases the biggest success of his career.

The Alan Halsall-owned seven-year-old has already sampled the National course when finishing fourth to Vic Venturi in the Totesport.comBecher Chase in Novemeber and finished second to Our Vic in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock last Saturday.

Entries for this year's National close on Tuesday, and Longsdon said: "Palypso De Creek will get a John Smith's Grand National entry.

"He loved the Grand National fences when he ran in the Becher Chase. He pulled a front shoe off right at thebeginning of the race, which made him slightly careful over those fences, but he jumped well.

"We are very pleased with his Haydock run at the weekend. He has come back extremely well and we won't run him again until the weights come out (on Tuesday, February 16).

He added: "We always thought hewas a good horse and I don't think he has improved particularly since he came to us. He has made progress and is in fantastic form but I think everything was always there with him and he has just proved that he is the horse we thought he was."

We knew he may be aimed at the National. Now we know for sure. He may struggle to get in off that mark.

PDC ran a belter on Saturday Barry-i was well impressed. Any news from Mrs Humphrey?

The jockey was overweight as well on Saturday on Palypso. As for Mrs Humphrey, I doubt Toby Jug will go for the National this year.
