Most trainers it’s a job, they are not going to stop a dog for 3 months for you, to you can land a gamble because they will get sacked.
2nd point as an owner it might not win, plus you have paid 3 months kennel bill for a non producer, so you need to punt a lot of money to make a profit if it wins and obviously can you get that investment on.

Owning a racehorse is easier they will stop it for a year if you want but the stable fees are massive for an ordinary guy.
