Agree with objections to the use of the word rescue,unfortunately it is GT(aka RGT) policy to do this.A few years ago when Ivor Stocker was the RGT head honcho i collared him at a track and raised my concerns regarding the misuse of the word rescue.His response was that it helps home dogs so they use it.He was not interested in how it reflects badly on the sport.

Ps ,that was the end of my fledgling career as a RGT volunteer.

surely the definition is if hound is abandoned someone rescues said hound then its a rescue hound
recently due to the demise of my dear mother who over many many years has had my retired
I had to pay 100 for his castration then a further 200 for someone to home him  as I was not able to do so myself the hound is happy im happy and new owners of the biggest screw I have ever owned are

Good man wedge. Thats the ball park figure. £300 we usually av them castrated or spayed as soon as retired then they go with donation. Kings lynn kate deals with. They take around 95% of hers. She also throws in towels muzzles if they ask she gives them it. They are nice people.

Jumped on the bandwagon when the RUN FOR THEIR LIVES program came out, saying Britain looked after greyhounds better than Ireland , would never run a dog in Ireland....did us a favour by all accounts

Sparrow you love the game of that i have no doubt. Its the perceptipn of the word RESCUE. Julie is a BB no doubt about it, she gets herself into trouble because she doesnt think things through. And she hasnt thought this one through.

I am as concerned as anyone about the welfare issue within greyhound racing but attacking this woman for her use of a particular word rather than another word is plainly ridiculous and does nothing to help the cause.

Neither do I dr,  but we need to talk about the dogs who aren't being taken care of after racing. Personally attacking this woman is not going to solve that problem. Bookmaking companies and the exchange should be made to pay a levy and people such as the OP would be better spending their time campaigning for that rather than writing unintelligible garbage on this forum.

i am not attacking her i have an opinion about her and its she not very good in front of a camera live makes so many mistakes it's embarrassing and i have always believed she has played both sides of the fence on greyhound welfare

there is a massive difference in meaning between the two words

using the 2 interchangeably is not acceptable & anybody doing this needs educating or outing

Sge if u could string a sentence together i might understand wer ur coming from. Her coments are insulting to all kennelhands. Some dogs teeth u cant do nothing with. They come into ur kennels at around 15 n 16 months old. If they av not bin looked after b4 u get them they are often in poor condition. Once u get on top of dogs teeth they are easy to look after.

The best dog i ever put a lead on. I hate wen people, kennelhands and trainers say that. Often they aint handled many gooduns, so its an easy statement to make. Tho i av handled many top class dogs. Its always the dogs that were injured an brought back to win big races that i remember, or the dodgers that we straightened out.

Can't believe you've just posted that Woody. Last year she wanted Belle Vue closed down amongst other tracks. She has totally alienated herself from the sport with this 'rescued not retired' campaign she is leading. Last night apparently it was the trainers, kennelhands & vets she railed on saying that they weren't caring for their dogs enough and should be out of the sport. Quite why RPGTV continue to use her I don't know, other than she may have a contract I suppose. She is doing the sport so much damage it's untrue. Definitely an anti imo

She actually said on camera last year, probably RPGTV, when the news first broke about BV that it would benefit the industry if we lost a good chunk of the tracks that are struggling and had maybe 6 supertracks I think was her quote. Soon got pulled on where are all the dogs going to run that are bred, where will the existing dogs go if 20 tracks shut, and how would we get trainers/kennelhands/owners of the future if there wasnt these grass roots tracks. We've already seen that in the NW with the loss of all the flapping tracks.
