Talk about holding a dog up

By:
Trip track distance unknown
But had little play At 33/1 Shotgun HAPPY Type of dog don’t mind having a risky play at |
By:
Happy done 33.60 Tuesday
By:
Seems a massive step up in trip for a dog that wins over 480 m
I guess by running it in this basically saying the dog ain't got enough to run in top class 4 bend races If were my dog would have stuck with four bends now Maybe it ain't fast enough for 500 m derby trip But will knacker the dog if runs in many 714 from the point of view of running it vs top class four bend open dogs in the future |

I noticed queenies rainbow has come into the picture. With potential for races to be held up that he,s in it was interesting to note savana winner cut from 33/1 to 20/1 with potential the race may suit a late closer.

By:
Happy lame
Not running tomorrow **** nose if it line up now Won’t be wasting any more money antepost for while Ladbrokes cut it into 12/1 as well |
By:
Ante post is a mugs game
If it's a 3 round comp in which only 1st qualify in the semis You might as just back any dog to win First round heat Semi Final You get better odds that way |
By:
First two in semis I mean
By:
Feel like mug at the moment
Up and downs But overall I be miles miles in front Antepost reaper |
By:
The thing is Ravage AP win bets only have to win the final while those securing a large enough price for E/W could see a profit from three placed runs. The romance of backing dogs on reputation or expectation has been part of the game for ever. In days of old, many primer track bookmakers would have their own AP boards for competitions and how many owners have purchased an open dog and got a three figure plus quote for the Derby. Anyone getting involved AP understands the risks against rewards and for those that get it right, such as Woody, the potential for gloating hits astronomical levels.
By:
Yer I used to think like that as well
But nowadays the bookies just put most dogs 33-1 or less for derby if it does a flashy run Any the prices for three round comps are tight Is the any chance of getting any value now Maybe yes but generally I would say no About four or five years who I checked my previous ante post bets on all comps and got a shock his much I had lost Have to confess never been an EW punter Guess I am rubbish at ante post picking and getting |
By:
Hi ravage. 100% its fraught with danger. As u go thru comps ur very much reliant on luck with draws etc. I must admit i bin lucky over last 5 yrs. My modus operandi wen big comps coming up evrytime i win a few quid on lead up to comp some of the winnings go on. U can end up with tidy sums.

Jaytee jet 80,s 50,s 33,s n 25,s was memorable. Slippy cian was for big money btn irish derby.
( bias ) droopys verve big money derby 2nd btn by a better dog. Cleaning doctor 66,s n 50,s btn shd got good money each way. On the other hand icarus he,s not running in jacket. Lots of others didn,t make starting line ups. Its definitly a chance u take. |

Will be devoting less n less time now. Joke this game. £15 rf/c romeo mandate n moreton madras thats wot i got this morning. Had to wait 20 mins to get bet approved.

By:
sadly the way the game has gone ph
been like it years but never been worse than this just got to pile your time & effort into other things to get earners imo wages from dogs only is a tough game in 2019 |
By:
100 % wonders diversify or die. I bin doin a lot more football than i used to. That var is a killer tho. Spent 6 hrs on that card tonight. Cant get a bet. Few pricey 1,s for playing on machine big prices. Arthurs impact won round crayford b4 long time ago. Aint no champion. Running better yhan it ever has. Thought might go of 4/6. Shotgun bullet 6/4 be happy to lay all night long. Got 3 or 4 outs in race.

By:
5 years ago dogs/other sports was 80/20 of my turnover, now its the other way for me
By:
Ye i can c that it could easily be like that wonders its a sad state of affairs. I had dogs for 45 years the 3 pups i bought will be my last. Y should i provide them with a product to use n abuse as they like an they wont lay me a bet.
By:
Private the way to go is diversify in to sports where bookies will take a bet e.g. football, golf, etc.Imo a punter like you with a keen eye and willing to put in the time can succeed in most areas of the game. In times gone by you could trust your trainer and your mates to do the business, now its dog eat dog (sorry about the pun) and when bookies start restricting you its the final straw.

^agree with both posts

ph i had a forum exchange with wonders and dr about four years ago about this......i was already in your position where i refused to be treated like a criminal to ask for a three figure bet in shops only to be denied and had no accounts so just had more on the dogs i wanted to be with on Betfair......dr and wonders were completely correct in saying that without the earlies that looked like an impossible position but it was either that or stop backing greyhounds.....its an arse ache....especially not being able to contribute to forums....but apart from some areas i don't want to diversify.....still making money.....could just be more for less risk....
