Courtesy of Greyhound Star.( Go ahead, innovative lot this Towcester! )
The last minute signing of P addy Power yesterday means that B etfred are the only major retail betting organisation who are not taking live coverage of the 2018 Star Sports English Greyhound Derby into their shops writes Floyd Amphlett. Towcester have taken racing rights to a new level this year because although they are signed up with media providers ARC/TRP, the Derby was not part of the deal – albeit the media provider has acted as facilitator for all negotiations. Towcester had already reached agreement with the majority of the ‘majors’ to take the coverage, including SIS stalwarts L adbrokesC oral, plus the independent bookmakers, and William H ill. Now, for the first time, every race will be available to all the shops, bar B etfred’s 1,300, throughout the entire event. The significance of a track dealing directly with individual bookmakers, and a not through a collective, such as BAGS, cannot be underestimated. |

I ment since the dog left the ivy yard

Fatty, sure Davy will leave trial form well behind and Tipp average when last here
Reckon Biker can pick off the wide running Bonucci but good luck! Just happy if my pair qualify really |
|
By:
Davy doesn't NEED to leave any trial form well behind, tonight. Just needs to amble through with as little stress as possible. For him the comp. proper will start next week.
|
|
By:
Davy is blessed the draw he got as he ran the track shockingly bad last week, he might end up running the track well in time but the small bit of evidence we have got on Towcester is simply quite a few dogs hate the place and cannot run it.
We're just lucky Woody put us wide to these 2 Buckley machines, some other lad was talking them down on the Kirby Memorial thread, Biker in the early rounds and Davy after his quarter final defeat. |

Lots of room to work with tonight davy. Another look round. Sure that will help him.

That's the main thing I have learned from this Derby so far. Nevr too old to learn.
Two things really.Firstly, the Irish form that really used to matter in the UK Derby was the Easter Cup. Not any more-for me it is now the Kirby. And second, disregarding the also rans from the Kirby is a huge error. |

Did you know PH that old Peter Collins is still going strong. Still doing the Scottish circuit with the two "villains". What a man!

A lot been made of less runners n less irish runners. 1 things for sure u cant knock the quality of the irish challenge. As we have seen on first 2 nights of the first round. In days gone by soppitt youngy childs got a lot of the top droopys dogs. Were not getting the results consistently enough. Mr buckley seems to be in the driving seat these days from the portlaw kennels. Over here jimmy wright does a good job with what he gets from dunphys.

Saw him couple o years ago at musselburgh wen my brother trained the powderhall sprint winner. Was in good form. He still turns out at common ridings an point to points i believe.
|

I am impressed by the Buckley girls. Pat must be so proud of them.
Emma seems to be the spokesperson for Borna Account and Sarah for Borna Gin! I wonder if "Speedy" is still with him. |

Everything and anything decent and youbg enough goes for the Kirby now, prize money is so good you have too. Fits in well after the big Clonmel and Tralee unraced comps as well on the calendar. It's probably better for Kirby runners when it's not an early Derny as it's 12-13 weeks straight running if you go deep in the Kirby and then the Derby but it's still the comp you look for dogs coming out of.

Drive on tipp 7/2 if you can get huge
Two inside ain’t got a lot Thing outside of him was devoid other week Davvy who’s class but like many have said Didn’t run well other week |
|
By:
, PF. All I said early in competition was Biker only just cleared and not sure Davy would be as good as Irish Derby winners such as Good News, Rural Hawaii, Ballymac Matt and Laughil Blake, think it was something like that anyway. Davy fulfilled potential there but Biker still got it to prove in races proper? |
|
By:
Imo woody wot i,ve seen i would like to av the biker dog. Made some inquiries for irish derby an bin quoted less than wot he is to win our derby. Firms running scared. Some av big liabilities. Davy was my saver pick on sectional mrkt. Great draw tonight hopefully av learned a lot from trial.

I’m on biker antepost
Got scraps on at juicy prices Just think might be leaning race for him tonight If dean dog hits it out the gates No dog that catch him ! Biker 1st 3 will do I backed deans too 66s after that areo run at hove |
|
By:
Biker has the hallmarks of a good un but think Davy showed a shade more early zip at Limerick. 550yds will suit them both, especially Biker
|
|
By:
PS Private. Don't let PF youre looking for a bet in the Irish Derby this early. He'll have your guts for garters!

By:
Cant get a bet anyway woody. No bookmakers lft
|
|
By:
Fancy bombers bullet tonight. Wont bet as priced accordingly. Hate the dog not as a greyhound as he has more than held his own in top company but i av done more tanks than erwin rommelon him, murrys act at 9/4 would do for me this evening. This comes with a government wealth warning. I get this dog wrong more than any other. Good luck.

Playing Crossfield Giles in the 2nd heat tonight, think there has to be a chance Knockard Spring can do for Bombers Bullet early on moving rails, he does that then I think Giles can go around and at the price I am happy taking the chance he stays there.

By:
Bonucci didn't need to win it to go through, and it showed. Can't be written off imo.
|
|
By:
**** me that biker thing run like extra from biker grove
|
|
By:
Always thought he'd qualify even after the first bend, it was Image Carranna in front of him, he was always going to back run her from a few lengths back
He needs to learn to come out of these boxes though if he wants to go deep in the comp |
|
By:
bit harsh....went in from missed break and fought off the track first......finished like a train....distance wont be an issue....
|
|
By:
One Draw out of 6 Bonnucci Gone Very one Pace was thrown round the bend in a great Pitch Mo excuses
|
|
By:
He;s beaten by a good dog there fattie in a race where he's sure to qualify and doesn't need to win. Can't believe all these Cronin dogs are as far forward as they seem. If they have more to show us this is going to be some Derby.
