Graham Holland has revealed the Garryvoe Bobby failed a drugs test for Buscopan – a drug used to help the dog pass urine.

Holland said: “The rumour mill will start with people who want to bury me and I would like the truth to come out immediately. The dog has a major problem cleaning himself, his father was the same. I was worried about him and spoke to Nick (Savva) who said that Buscopan was particularly effective with dogs that can’t pea. Bobby was really struggling so I gave him a dose.

“The drug obviously stayed in his system for a whole week and I bitterly regret giving it to him. But there was nothing sinister or cruel, quite the opposite. It was a welfare issue for a drug that would have no effect whatsoever on his performance on the track.

“Obviously there will be an inquiry, but I hope it leads to a wider debate. Should we be allowed to apply for permission from the veterinary steward to use drugs like Buscopan if it is in the dog’s best interest. I am absolutely gutted for the owner who has taken it in his stride, but I feel so sorry for him.”

** Buscopan is advertised as a recognised treatment for urinary issues and irritable bowel syndrome.

I used this product 20 plus yrs ago. Was really good. Like anything if its good for a dog or helps him to race it gets fackin banned. It wasn,t a banned substance then but is now. FFS we used to put dermobian on there feet as a barrier to dogs getting sand burns. Was brilliant. Wot happened banned. Y for **** sake ur only trying to protect the dogs feet.

Well, all systems go for the trip down. Only real bet big double Bruisers/Jet

Think 9/4 Brae and 7/2 Reg not too bad

Had to go against Shay with little bet 5/1 Con

Getting picked up in Sheffield and back there for lunchtime Father's Day meeting, Sunday

At least roads should be quite quiet

Fatty u are SPOT ON  ,can be the only Reason Buscopan is Banned ,Masking agent Shocked

Was thinking about it for sometime the Ban for it makes no Sense ,If Mr holland knows it should not be Used why use it ?

In the Middle of the Derby ?  We need to know why it is Banned ,I doubt it is being banned because it helps dogs who Have IBS

Symptons ?

Who in their  right Mind would give the Dog a Drug that they know takes 7 days to clear ? When they know the Dog is due to

race within or very close to that Period ?

Would not be the first Time Mr Holland was involved in a Drug Controversy .

H2 looks tough and could see some of the fancied runners miss out - Dorotas Vic out, Bruisers impressive
H3 cloran paddy at 3s is value over buick - paddy out! eden out! buick won't get away with trapping like this much longer
H4 jaytee jet at 6/4 - so many missing the break tonight, will need to trap better for sure but will at least have his draw
H5 i think one of the three shorties will miss out as barricane to qualify - brandy out! another set of missed breaks on the inside, great run from rocket to pick up the six
H6 on shay a/p so just want it through - fingers crossed all good so far!
H7 any three can qualify - danzey running great

Very good turn out but dazzling sun preventing you from even seeing the big screen properly

Right, hands up all those who said Westmead Hawk wouldn't have won a Towcester Derby? If it's looking like Shay can, surely The Hawk could have

I was impressed most by Bruisers last night and backed him at 10/1. Tother antepost Buick (needs to start much better) and Jet (but ran flat last night, costing me the big double)

Just waiting for Clares to take off again any time and won on only bitch left Ballinakil Clare, may go another round

Forest Con ran well but impossible to hold Shay when that moved prominent

Butt like Buick needs to recapture best starting prowess, but maybe in the quarters

All looking very competitive now

Woody was it as bad trying to watch it
Though them windows at wimbo when
Sun came though them ?

That is big down side watching a greyhound race at the track on
Large screen

I'm sure they could for the final having standing view only
On horse race track so you can see it better

By:

Good idea Fatty but places would be at a premium, could be 3 deep so think I'd rather take my chances in the stand

You know, strangely enough, the back straight didn't seem quite so far in the distance from the first time I remembered it

Hmmmm who goes to a greyhound track so watch it on a TV screen

It's a fundamental design fault of the track

You go to watch the race live

Places like Wimbledon original side or Newcastle

High up close to the track

You might as well watch the race on your TV screen at home

ravage with land values in the south its going to be the future model for any new track......horse and hound combine the facilities....just make the track design better......copy the blueprint for hackney or walthamstow and stick in the countryside......
