Mentioned this on another thread but couldn't believe B*ylesports Hero was 7/2 before the last round and backed him. 11/8 now. Think he's a good Irish Derby dog too (if stamina holds out), on at 40/1 there, but only 25/1 for that now. Surely only one winner of the Produce?!
Cox Cup - Newbridge
Inaugeral running won by Ashley Prince over 525yds 1972, but 550yds nowadays. Many wont look further than Greenwell Hulk after his brilliant efforts winning the 600yds event at Shelbourne, but ideally needs further and decided to play elsewhere. Main hope 8/1 Jackal Frampton. Think i'm right in saying only won once this year and unproven over the trip but lost nothing in defeat when second to smart Deanridge Pennys in the Joe Dunne and reached the semis of a high class Limerick competition. Little savers big outsiders 20/1 Lodgefield Turbo, 25/1 Fifo and 66/1 Bingojackpotlad, all each-way.
Harrys Tea 750, Curraheen Park
Gone for 6/1 Racenight Jenny, who has really come to the fore since stepping up to this trip. Volcano needs a stiff test but wasn't impressed Derby final night and always thought she's a bit in and out. Sidarian Lisa could be a bit hit and miss nowadays, too. Barefoot Agent ran in the Wimbledon Derby but takes a huge hike up in distance
Had a bet 9/1 Roddick (who we all know and love) but added another string to my bow with 16/1 Witches Belle. Quickest in first round and could go all the way if churning out splits like that 1.22secs
Good luck!

Been betting like a cant/lunatic for 4 days, have a chance to get outta this comp thanks to the inside info, please God Jaytee Jet blows the life and turns hands but I will be backing the top, have a pain in my ballsac with this comp but the top is way overpriced, ain't got my card at the minute but 5s is massive, no doubt Ronan will play

Early play was little bet 8/1 Lenson Sanchez. Thought he'd come back to his best originally but doesn't seem so now. Would be happy to see Slippery Fred win, holding an Irish Derby antepost ticket

Witches Belle flew out last night and very happy with my 16/1. Droopys Roddick led but couldn't shake of pursuers and the time wasn't there really. Got 8/1 but needs to improve, especially if he's going to make a big impact in the English Derby. Having said that, hoping he's a fair few lengths better round Wimbo
In the sprint competition, Quietly timed the start, showed scintillating early pace and did the clock. Reminds me a bit of Farloe Blitz

Think there is still value about in the Kirby Memorial, a bit miffed I didn't take the 25s Double Oh Seven (who could possibly be as fast as anything in the country) before the last round. Droopys Awesome is a dog that's improving every week and last week he was quite impressive in defeat I thought, he missed the start again (which is a problem at the moment) but showed good pace up to be up Witches Belle's arse on the corner, he lost some ground here as the bitch went around but then showed impressive pace again into the 3rd where he has nowhere to go and the bitch pulled away up the straight. In his semi final (it is a tough race) Witches Belle has drawn 1, she moved onto the hare rail from 4 last week so if she comes away you'd expect her to be moving off and then you have Clares Rocket in 3 who wants to be going the other way, it leaves Calzaghe Billy with an awful tough draw in 2 and there is the chance of trouble. Riverside Oscar looks to have a real hard job here and once Droopys Awesome can hold Eightythreelarch again on his outside I don't think the bottom can back run up and then he should qualify. With 11 railers and only 1 (w) left in there the draw for the final will be all crucial but then if Droopys Awesome does qualify I don't think he would be as unconvinced as others if getting a middle to wide draw. He does need to improve again but at the price and the way he is going I thought he was worth playing and had a few quid on at 20s today.

Aye Goddess, Clares Rocket sprouted wings and if away like that in the final, my pair Droopys Roddick and Witches Belle have their work cut out, to say the least

Champion trainer Graham Holland has no plans for runners in this year’s William Hill Greyhound Derby – despite having one of Ireland’s outstanding candidates in Clares Rocket.
The son of Confident Rankin was just five spots outside the Limerick 525 yard track record when landing his semi final of the Kirby Memorial by eight lengths from the unbeaten Witches Belle in 28.00.
He said: “There are no plans to travel at this moment and I don’t see that changing. We sent Sidarian Vega to Charlie Lister after the Easter Cup but Clares Rocket is too young. The way I look at it, you don’t send a boy to do a man’s job. If you look back at the English Derby at the dogs who get to the latter stages, not many of them come back as good the following year and Rocket could win a lot of decent competitions if we look after him.”
Clares Rocket’s Derby quality can be judged by the fact that he will be a short priced favourite to win at Limerick despite the presence of the 16-1 Wimbledon ante post favourite Droopys Roddick who landed the other qualifier in 28.52.

I will be honest but I just cannot have that dog, I really think he is a 575y or 600y dog and time will tell, I don't have the monster tank to lay a 1 dog book but I really do think he is a shocking price for the Derby

PF i'm sorting a box out for English derby final night, you're welcome to come and not be hounded by this buffoon all night
you can come on the podium too at shelbourne if we win the puppy race

Nevertheless, flying time. With good starts in English Derby, must be a player once securing a run. Doesn't like getting beat for my money. Bit like "The Hawk" in that respect? Am I on, by the way PF?

no one said he werent a ridiculously fast dog but without razor early pace he is gonna find himself in trouble at the first bend every single time at wimbledon unless it opens up for him like it did there. for me dogs either need amazing early or none at wimbledon, he has decent but not exceptional, which means he will be in with the crowd at the bend every time unless he gets a charmed run - like last night.
i think he is far more suited to ireland as well for what its worth and there has to be a chance with several first round bumps of getting an injury. tbh if he was mine id seriously consider swerving wimbledon, but he isn't and connections will do what they want and rightly so.
tbh PF summed it up perfectly imo.no one said he werent a ridiculously fast dog but without razor early pace he is gonna find himself in trouble at the first bend every single time at wimbledon unless it opens up for him like it did there. for me dog
I am probably being very harsh on the dog (he is clearly a very good dog) but then he is favourite for the Derby, still I think he is shockingly short as I do feel he is limited early and not amazing down the back, he tanks home and the run home clearly suits

Had a bet 9/4 Clares Rocket to win the Produce Stakes at Clonmel with a view to playing winnings up on the Irish Derby. My greyhound buddy was at Clonmel previous round and I told him don't think Clares would be making the same mistake as his previous final this time round. Should have gone in then at 4/1 really but, just now, only testing the water as far as Shelbourne is concerned

and she is still 5/1 fav does anybody know how the bloody comp is actually being run? it says on my racecard here 3 qualify, there is 10 heats wonder is it:60 - 36 (6 fastest 4th placers qualify) - 24 (4 qualify) - 12 - 6
Said was going to roll 9/4 Clares Rocket winnings on Produce Stakes onto Irish Derby, but think B*yles 12/1 in jeopardy, so assumed he's already won the Limerick race and played accordingly!
Irish Oaks Think Ballydoyle Honey may need a little more time, so backed 5/1 Ballinakil Clare Also, 14/1 Leamaneigh Mags (each-way) for the place money. Cant be anywhere near as large as that, if showing the possible improvement and approaching anything like her best
Race Of Champions 8/1 Skywalker Rory
Good luck!

I remember in the days of 10% betting tax, there was a race where a horse was shorter than 1/10, so there was no betting. Had every chance, but the other one won! . You can lay me evens Clares then, if you like Addy?

so because i think you're a clown for assuming a dog has already won before the race, it means i want to lay a price more than twice what is out there? i dont follow your logic (again)

As said, already got Clares for the Irish Derby coz think the 12/1 in jeorpardy. I didn't even say he's already past the post really. I just posed the question if he was? Only said lay evens coz sounded as if you thought good chance he'd get beaten. As far as my logic is concerned, Spock was my uncle!

Ballydoyle Honey failed to produce her running in the semis of the Oaks but puts me in a good position with Sidarian Pearl and Leamaneigh Mags. Maybe only Holycross Leah could possibly spoil the party?

Sidarian Pearl looks set to make all really but podium finish for 14/1 Leamaneigh Mags, each-way, not ruled out
In supporting races, fancy Laughil Duke and Ballinakil Clare

Race 2: Bonding Session at EVS+ (watch last weeks semi final and now drawn between the two slowest runners to the corner)
Race 7: Ballymac Andwhy at 5/4+ (love her draw, should lead) [1/4, 1/6, 1/4/6aw]
Race 8: Brinkleys Katie at 5/2+ (again love her draw, 5 is going straight left and i see Katie turning at worst third to 3 and 5 both she should back run) [6/5, 6/4, 6/3]
Race 9: High St Jesse at 20s, 16s, 14s (whatever you can get, if 2 pings and can avoid 3 diving left at boxes she wins, if she doesn't the top becomes a big runner here as Mags will be moving in on top of Leah as well who needs to outtrap her and i don't think the bottom can clear all inside and turn in a good enough pitch) [2/1, 2/5/1, 2/4/1]
Race 10: Ballyhooly Henry at 4/1+ or Farloe Joey at 3/1+ (do not like Laughil Duke from the 1 box, you'd think it suits but i think he runs an awful bend from the inside and doesn't trap as well from the inside {watch his previous races}, Henry has two chances for me, come away running and clear Duke early or even miss it and if Duke runs the bend poor as he has from this pitch get a lovely run around on the fence. Joey is a dog i think could near win the Derby) [3/2, 2/3, 3/2/6aw]
Skywalker Leaf also has a peach of a draw in the 11th

Happy with my pair but think Mucho Macho Man one to be respected. Entering the equation for each-way purposes now: Twilight Tear, Droopys Ford and Jeanettedollemma. Only added Tear to the original pair for the place money

Mentioned Mucho Macho Man and did very well last night
Curious Boy did the clock set earlier in the evening by Irish Derby third Farloe Rumble and kicking myself didn't have more on at 20/1 now
Although behind early, not disappointed with little add Twilight Tear, who battled well to beat useful Rural Hawaii, who continues to throw his races away running very wide off the final bend
Main play Quietly shot out and showed splendid speed as you would expect for a top-notch sprinter. Gets a little tired run in but has enough in reserve to hold on. Reminds me a bit of 2011 winner Razldazl Rioga when the race was run towards the end of October

My 3 safely through and wouldn't change team. Twilight Tear took the scalp of Curious Boy but that one can do much better. We know 525yds stretches Quietly but could still be the one with trouble behind

Hoping two of my Irish Derby dogs Roddick and Matt run very well. This Hot Pipe is a joke. How does it get in the Select Stakes and this? Never picked a leg up since Shawfield, which must have been the biggest fluke in history. Must be a 100/1 shot!

played Sober Call @ 7/2, 3/1 and 11/4 in the ECC Timber final. Thought the draw was the main difference between himself and Priceless Brandy in the semi final where Brandy just squeezed through on the rail at the opening bends to lead into the back, thought he also edged off just after the sprint boxes causing Sober Call to lose a wee bit of ground. Drawn the opposite way around this time I expect Sober Call who I think has just about the better early to lead around and then I am not sure Priceless Brandy can back run him. Some think Sober Call is a bit of a screw and while he has done a few naughty things after the line at Shelbourne he has not shown anything wrong during his races.
played Must Be Jack @ 9/2 in the Laurels final as he is the best drawn dog in the race for me, drawn on the immediate right of Farloe Rumble again who will be edging across if Jack makes the same start as the semi final I think he pisses up, if Ela Alecko doesn't ping I think Skywalker Manner does him on the run up, even if he does ping and go around I think Jack can back run him. The only one in the race I think Jack would have no chance of back running is Farloe Rumble but then struggle to see how he leads around.
in Dundalk tonight I played Droopys Roddick @ 2/1, like his draw between Cable Bay and Maverik. Roddick for me while I think he is limited early is a decent enough trapper and with the very short run to the bend over the 550y trip at Dundalk I think he can go around in front and then he wins for me, when betting opened for the race I thought they had Roddick and Matt the wrong way around so played accordingly, whichever leads around likely wins.

Little 9.6/1 double Must Be Jack (Laurels) and Sober Call (ECC Timber) at 9/4 apiece. Must Be Jack ought to master Ela Alecko soon enough, Farloe Rumble gets behind/accident-prone and Rural Hawaii too wide
Priceless Brandy got up the inside of Sober Call in the semis but may not get round here. Sober, better drawn now, looks game to me and could do enough
Good luck!

Apart from a strange run in the semis of the Irish Derby, Lenson Rocky has been excellent in elite company and not going to desert him at 8/1. Big price could be 20/1 Alfies Diamond or even 66/1 Clonleigh Brave (each-way pair)
600yds - Shelbourne
Wouldn't be rushing to take the short price Ballyhooly Henry myself, preferring 8/1 Water Fern (a joy to watch when cracking out and leading 'em a merry dance). Farloe Joey was a big disappointment Irish Derby night but put that behind him first round, respected. Think B*ylesports Duke's bubble has burst now
Good luck!

Some smart performances at Limerick, namely Jaytee Dutch, Priceless Brandy, Sidarian Pearl and Lenson Rocky. If Dutch could start like that all the time, he would be extremely difficult to beat. Thought Brandy did very well indeed, considering he didn't have things all his own way. Sidarian Pearl produced her best Irish Derby form with a foot-perfect display and Lenson Rocky continues in top-drawer form. Think your winner is there, but a couple to keep an eye on for each-way purposes could be Ballinakil Clare and Burgess Popeye.
Shelbourne 600yds. Wouldn't swop Water Fern but my eyes must be deceiving me. IGB website says Slippery Louise beaten half a length but Fern looked more value than that when winning, as far as I could make out and yes, I know it's the second winning line! Farloe Joey ran another good race and continues to merit the utmost respect, as said - but not in so many words

How on earth was Priceless Brandy allowed to go off at 3/1 for his St Leger semi at Limerick last night, when only 11/4 best to win the competition outright. If it was possible to have a bet there, would have been a wheelbarrow job, imo. Won 11 lengths!
