****.COM DERBY ENTRY RISES TO 113
The entries for the ****.com Irish Derby continued rise yesterday and it now looks as though the final entry will rise to at least 120 which would mean twenty first round heats to be run on Thursday and Saturday nights. Among those entered yesterday were last year’s runner-up Cabra Buck as well as kennel companions Hawaii Kinsale, General Wolf and Coran Sky, tonight’s Tipperary Cup finalist Star Ace and Ardfert Tee Jay which clocked 28.68 in a trial at Shelbourne on Thursday evening. There will be the usual late withdrawals but we can anticipate up to ten more entries before the draw is made on Monday morning. |

A friend went all the way to Shelbourne last night to see his dog run but he told me it was abandoned after 4 races with the going estimated -140. Re-racing conditions, Shawfield have had problems with the Scottish Derby in the past. Hope Shelbourne isn't going the same way at their most important time of the year?

Vans Viking qualified for the Irish Sprint semis at Dundalk, Friday. Doubt he'll go for the Irish Derby now

reading back through this looks like another poor competition ... is there any good news out there ?
By:
Woody it was a fkin monsoon yesterday, that's why the going was so bad, nothing else, Derek and Dave do a great job usually
By:
Let's hope so but it was on the back of the -30 trial session. Hope we get a month of decent weather now

Thursday may turn out to be the driest day of the week with sunny periods and just the risk of a few showers.
The chance of more widespread showers increases on Friday, though some sunshine is likely as well. Temperatures will generally be in the high teens and westerly winds may pick up a bit. |

F'kin charming - made the trip over to watch ours run and for the first time in living memory Shelbourne is abandoned because of rain. Perhaps the Lord is trying to tell me something!.
Rumour has it that PF was out partying and couldn't make it. HE KNEW. |

Rumor is correct and HD is suffering for it now

Happy with my opening gambit. Mainly got four, 20/1 x 3 Droopys Nidge, 40/1 x 2 B*ylesports Hero, 25/1 and 33/1 Kereight King (from a very long time ago) and 25/1 and 33/1 Deanridge Pennys. Hoping they go a long way and would love, by some miracle, to see them all in the final. If they fall by the wayside, small profit and break-even dogs then come into play. Still think there are plenty of good dogs in it and the event not as poor as people say. I may change my tune after a few rounds, though
Good luck! |

By:
Pat and Noel's dogs drawn against each other |
By:
nice to see the english derby and greatest race on the planet a trend setter for its little noisy brother across the water irish derby ;-) with 5 qualifiers and 4 qualifier races.

Don't think Riverside Pat will be liking the last race Thursday, either. Well, the owners certainly wont after Saturday's fiasco!
.Yeah, draw late. Hope they can manage to run the races on time! ![]() |
By:
some early in heat 2 but sure 5 qualifing
absolutely hate Farloe's draw |
By:
Think i'm happy enough with mine. Wondering how Norris and Supermac will go wearing red. Sugar wouldn't have complained. Kereight needs to prove latest running wrong. B*ylesports, Fiery, Baliff Turbo should progress but not easy for Vic. Spy got interesting first heat Saturday. The clash of the night could be Ward versus Metro
By:
Norris and Supermac have great draws
By:
Cool, wont edge off slightly then?
By:
Ballymac Vic has a great draw too
By:
Yeah, Vic runs T5 but a couple could give him a race. All the way again Vic!!!

3 is a cripple and bang rails, 4 is turning straight left too, 6 is useless - draw is fine

Silva v Wolf interesting

Chance for Deanridge Pennys to come back to form

By:
Netty should be okay. Hyped dog Scholar never delivered, did he? Would be great to see Puma do well
By:
that last heat is a real good race
By:
Shoulkd be ok? Easiest draw of the round ffs
By:
Suppose I could have said Netty will hose up! You too picky about chosen words PF

By:
any chance the useless shower of cants that masquerade as bookmakers can now take out all the dogs not entered (that all have known about for ages) and actually price up those that are fkin entered - just an idea like

Give 'em a few days and maybe!

By:
Wats farloes draw, missed d start?
By:
Highview Thady (w)
Tyrur Nathan (w) Skywalker Farloe (w) 3,4 and 5 - can't remember who is in 6 Nathan probably the widest runner in the comp |
By:
Wats with the 4 and 5 qualifyin too btw - joke they av 5 qualifyin from some ffs, may as well nt run the races
By:
4 from his heat as far as i know
if he comes away like Easter Cup final night he will be fine but that was a freak break, if he traps like normal he could have nowhere to go on the bend if Nathan comes away decent |
