Just listened to 9.22 notts, decent 500m open, you would think he might make some effort.

He sounded drunk, drugged, just woken from a long sleep or all 3. Just appalling. He had no interest in the race and barely mentioned anything first 2 bends, I thought my internet had gone down then

`coming to last bend and its 3 from 1 with a good gap to 2' then in same breath `its 2 up the rail from 3'. `Its a close photo'. Oh piss oofff, so tilted by commentary I am not even arsed if I have done my money or not. I just dont want to ever hear him again. Makes Thommo sound like Peter O'sullivan in his pomp.

There are two commentators who sound very similar
One is Mark Sullivan who has appeared on RPGTV and used to be the Wimbledon guru
I think he has been on the commentary on and off most of the day
The only criticisms I have is that on the odd occasions he hesitates in his commentary and leaves out important words
Also he regularly waits for the race to finish before he completes his comms
This means he can say "coming off the last" in real time
.... and a few seconds later he comes in with "off the bend 2 hangs on from 1"
In other words he waits too long and the excitement of the finish isn't there.
Easy for me to criticise I suppose , wouldn't take that job under pittance

y it isn't easy for sure, but Mr Magoo (aka Sullivan) is generally coasting and makes numerous lazy errors...he is basically looking to get away with the minimum and isn't bothered about accuracy. He is not the worst offender tbf, but really the service needs PL, Selby, Swindon Simon and Errol...and the rest need to find something else to do

There is now only one commentator on the service each day calling every race from 11am all the way through to 9.30pm, bar a few breaks. Maintaining the same enthusiasm late in the evening, especially when there are 3 evening meetings with a race every 5 minutes, is not as easy as you might think!

paul cassel(AKA Sunshine Head above) regularly worked all day Saturdays from 10.30 a m until 10.30 pm
he may have been bored out of his skull but his commentaries remained very interesting, amusing and informative.
at the same time , in a highly professional manner , he conversed with members of this forum
he got more people listening, more people talking about the sport and generated interest accordingly
the current service is detached from the punter , cold and out on a limb.
both betfair radio and media on demand had the facility whereby they could contact the broadcaster via forums or email in real time
as the rpgtv service offers, in order to generate interest, comment and criticism
S I S are missing out on a trick here.

Well said Irish

PC, Doggerobber ect were excellent at engaging the audience and making a relatively boring product lively

I do agree with your sentiment Irish - i love the dogs, i love commentating, and i love video watching and punting my opinion. I think i understand what listeners want to hear in a commentary. I love to give a service that i would expect to hear as a listener myself. However, tbh i can earn more money punting than commentating and so i will not be heard 24/7. And u r right there are people that put in for shifts and go through the motions and put limited effort and knowledge into the service, which as a listener to a commentary, is disappointing. But it's the same old story regarding hours and remuneration.
