must have been The Plough You're spot on, it's the hardest week ever. Come back more knackered after Mon to Fri at Cheltenham than you do after 2 weeks going mad in Vegas. |

we will have to do cheltenham/english derby/irish derby meet ups from now on PF. last man standing and all that although with all due respect it was hard enough undertsanding you with 2 inside us let alone 22

Still unclear about Pont Alexandre's race, anybody know please?
Been looking at the Foxhunters. No Baby Run these days but Cottage Oak has hit form at the right time. Although missed the 25/1, had a couple of quid at 14/1 |
|
By:
probably the neptune, going by the market
|
|
By:
Woody please please don't back Pont Alexandre
![]() |
|
By:
Why not? If you think i'll jinx it, youre out of order. Nap Rockview Sail won, didnt it? If you go to St Peter's in Rome, Pont Alexandre is plastered all over the place. If that's not a sign, i dont know what is!
|
|
By:
Why not?
Because i have fancy prices on him for the Neptune and judging by the horses you've put up on here you could get him beat in a seller |
|
By:
Tarquin Du Seuil was tipped and won too. Have had unlucky run but hopefully coming back around now. I'm backing Alexandre whether you like it or not!

|
By:
Pont Alexandre will win if good enough on the day, regardless of who has backed it and that will be a lot of people, in-form, out-of-form, rich and poor
|
|
By:
How long does an unlucky run have to last before there are other aspects to consider?
Whats that adage the poker boys use about not spotting the mark in the first hour of play? |

Bostons Angel , in the cross country chase , carried 10st 13lb into second behind Outlaw Pete over course and distance in December. Currently 12-1, quarter the odds first 4 places with Paddys. Harrington’s 8 year old won the RSA chase in 2011, loves the course and is the banker on the first day especially at 3-1 the place.

Blackmail represents Willie Mullins in the bumper on Tuesday, currently great each way value, especially if it goes heavy, 25 at sj and paddys, won in a canter on Sunday but changed hands on Saturday night before the race for well over 200k euros out of tony martins stable.

Really? you sure it wasn't Moyle Park [who beat Blackmail over Christmas] that was bought and has been sent to Willie Mullins? |

that was exactly as i heard it p f

David Harry Kelly's Moyle Park, well-touted before delivering in style at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day, grabbed the headlines at Cheltenham's Brightwells' January Sale tonight when selling to Harold Kirk for £250,000.
Kirk, who works with Willie Mullins and acting on behalf of the champion trainer here, got the better of Anthony Bromley, positioned at the time with Paul Nicholls. The Flemensfirth sale-topper, now a five-year-old, is the first foal out of Lovely Present. That daughter of Presenting was successful on the track and she was also placed at Grade 2 level over fences. |
|
By:
RE Moyle Park:
"He's been bought for an undisclosed client, but will be trained by Willie Mullins," said Kirk. "He won his bumper well, is a fabulous athlete and could be top-class. "He'll run once more this year before going hurdling next season. Hopefully he'll make up into a Grade 1 performer." 250k was the supposed price Tony Martin said he was planning to run Blackmail in the Champion Bumper after he won on Sunday, he certainly did not sound like a trainer who was about to send his horse to another trainer. |

"Bostons Angel , in the cross country chase , .... Currently 12-1, with paddys" Its gone to 8's in pp's today... still 10's available elsewhere ![]() |

Hurricane Fly at 3s still looks tasty to me.Also like Salsify in the Foxhunters at 8s.
|
|
By:
7/1 and 8/1 Pont Alexandre until very recently for the Neptune but now only best price 7/2, although still in the betting for the Albert Bartlett

More Cheltenham probables get saddled up for racing today.
Of the more prominent ones, Ascot sees Captain Chris against Cue Card and Finians Rainbow, should be plenty of pointers there. Also at Ascot, i'm very interested to see how Rocky Creek fares and already betted Far West for the Triumph. Also, keeping my eye on Red Sherlock in the last, could make an impact in the Champion Bumper. At Haydock, already got a small interest in Cottage Oak for the Foxhunters. At Wincanton, spare a thought for grand old favourite Celestial Halo |
|
By:
Cue Card beat Captain Chris but both will surely need to jump much better to figure at Cheltenham.
Rocky Creek won but workmanlike at best. Dont look a festival winner to me. Far West won a tactical race, ended up a sprint. Happy enough with him. Red Sherlock looked temperamental. Would give him the swerve. Cottage Oak won an easy 13 lengths. Got to be pleased with that. Zarkandar won okay but dont fancy him to win Champion Hurdle. Celestial Halo was running well enough until mistake and one-paced |
|
By:
Captain Chris didn't touch a twig until the 2nd last... I backed him (again
).... Personally I don't think thathe would have beat Cue Card but we will never know... I think that Rocky Creek could win a decent race one day, I have a feeling that the faster they go, the better he will travel, he jumps and stays well, I wouldn't write him off yet.... I fancy Hurricane Fly for the Champion, but can't see Zarkander being out of the first three!!! I will be backing Long Run for the Gold Cup!!! Good Luck Lads.... Oi Oi The White Soks!!! ![]() |
|
By:
You could well be right Mustapha, but just thought Zarkandar came there travelling really well before doggedly winning. That presenter, his name escapes me now, only rated the performance 7/10. He did go on to say that obviously his prime objective is Chelthenham and the going was holding (maybe not exactly in those words!).
We seem to be on the same wavelength with Hurricane Fly and Long Run anyway and White Soks emphasises that ![]() |
|
By:
Added Overturn (Arkle) to my Chelthenham portfolio. Had an eye on him at 8/1 but at the time, thought Simonsig's name was on the trophy. However, not quite so sure now with Overturn all set for a flawless round of jumping, that's the plan anyway. Thinking now, maybe there's not be a difference of 5/6 and 7/2 between them?

Things hotting up with only about 22 days to go and added another, At Fishers Cross.
He has several Cheltenham entries, namely the Albert Bartlett, the Neptune, the Coral Cup and the Pertemps, but pretty sure he'll run in the first-named. The 6/1 seemed to go overnight and generally 5/1 now. He's already done me a couple of good turns and looking for a bold bid. Kicking myself didnt do the 5/1 single Hurricane Fly, instead going for the big race double with 8/1 Long Run, coz the Gold Cup looks extremely hard this year and Hurricane Fly is now down to about 13/8 for the Champion Hurdle |

Cheltenham prices have gone now in the main, you may as well as wait until the day, i have lost count of the times i have fancied one in the last few weeks and it has drifted on the day only for it to win, champagne fever was last year's classic , i put it up on here at 8's and it won at 14's or thereabouts on the day, couldnt get enough on , even my last fiver on the nanny, came out 400 up on the wednesday after taking a beatong and licking my wounds all day, face longer than the horse
, smile wider than a hippo on the way home.irishone 11 Feb 12 08:16 champagne at tens is an earner, it will be less than that if it gets there.... |

I don't plat ante post Cheltenham now... Just back on here at Racetime.... I remember going to Cheltenham, thought I was
lucky taking 4/1 Jodami early... Generally 5/2, 3/1 leading up to the day.... Gamble on The Fellow... Jodami returned 8s... ![]() |
|
By:
Yes Mustapha but on the other hand, you can get some big prices antepost like i did last year on Hurricane Fly, again this year, but still doesnt mean they will win. Think Fly ended up ridiculously long odds-on last year but ran like a middle-market chance. Fingers crossed he can do much better this year and regain his crown. Dont like doing it, but probably lay Long Run if Fly wins, coz my double would pay large
