Thought Melody's Gamble ran a nice race for being so green
By:
does anyone think the drapers give
There dogs a look next weekend ? will they be invited ? |
By:
Yeah Chopper i thought both Melodys Gamble and Fear Big Star ran well in defeat, i think they would have been better off the other way around down the back as i don't think they where doing each other any favours. I think both are capable of a massive run if they can get it right at boxes, maybe Melodys Gamble this week but worry for the other lad with the dog directly outside him.
I don't know Fattie and won't be able to make it in (i don't think) due to a mates 30th, can't get him to go dogs. If it where me i would invite Farloe Warhawk for the 525y and maybe Ballymac Eske for the 550y, 575y or 600y race if he did a big trial. I would not invite Eden Star because he has basically done f all this year due to injury (not his fault) and there has to be dogs who have achieved more this year than him and they should not be left out. However reading other forums plenty don't any English runners invited bar Sawpit Sensation seen as he entered the Derby and the others have not ran in IGB competitions, Warhawk did run Derby final night though. |
By:
your right about Eden but everyone was talking about him befor
May he was a talking point all over the place I think his 3 dogs be aid by the fact the he's had runner in Ireland Over the years the fact the English never come over help dreapers get the red carpet |

Chopper, said on another thread Paradise Madison had 10 lengths in hand on his nearest rival on the clock but i use .08 of a second per length
By:
He seemed to take a couple of little bumps too but his manner of victory was such i've had a go outright at 3/1.
The other flying run came in the preceeding race, so just wonder if the track was watered? Both Madison and North Bound looked highly impressive anyway, virtually all the other dogs looked a shade pedestrian in comparison, imo |

7 spots = 1 length
By:
I would of backed my last buck that woody go in on new tr holder
At eye poping value in a puppy stake ! ![]() |
By:
Not disagreeing PF but easier to use .08. That is for example .04 for half length, instead of .035, same applies to quarter of a length: .02 on the .08 per length scale. Only splitting hairs anyway
By:
Well Fatty, i could be deemed correct if Madison starts odds-on for the final
By:
Just think youve got to take notice of a run like that when the Irish rave about a 28.50s run
By:
you can't disagree because i am right
By:
Argue the toss about 1/100th of a second why dont you!
. One spot is a short-head, would you agree? So, 7 short-heads, makes the length of a dog, i dont think so! ![]() |
By:
It's pointless trying to help you, all i will say is around Shelbourne Park 7 spots = 1L (FACT whether you like it or not)
By:
pf
think its because they might go a touch quicker at shelbourne ![]() |
By:
![]() I was hoping you put something mad up about Cremartin Lark yesterday and the others would follow as they did, still think 50s is fair though. Leamaneigh Turbo was another i was hoping for a whopper price, thought he showed lovely early after missing it on Saturday, moved rails too. |
By:
yeah there was a lot of cut and pasting going on
By:
it is strange that ireland use 0.7 for a lenth yet 0.8 here but im not getting into which is right or wrong

I've always used 8 pips a length from the days of proof reading when the quality of print was poor. Not sure how PF can say: "you cant disagree because i am right" because it's only a rule of thumb guesstimation. Sure youll find sprinters run faster than marathon performers at the end of 893m
By:
Think you'll find racing managers use the 8 spots estimation when working out handicaps, too

Are you really going to argue this with me?? Read an Irish racecard FFS. 7 spots = 1 length When the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake is moved to an English track i will then conceade 1L = 8 spots but while it is run at Shelbourne it is as i have said. |

By:
BJG, time, distance and speed are all related. I've said too much already, anyway
By:
woodmanchester is correct, all the irish dogs flapped when they arrived in uk for last 40 years 0.8 is correct. the 0.7 is a mistake, if you look at a photo finish print you will find the answer.

By:
So every single track in Ireland is wrong, every single racecard printed since i started going racing is wrong.
So Jackallstar actually clocked 28.72 and not 28.62 or he didn't get beat 10L in fact he got beat 8 3/4L. |
By:
FACT..........................7 SPOTS = 1 LENGTH
By:
...and what if you get a large dog winning, the 2nd could be beaten a length but it would be over .07 of a second behind!
![]() |
By:
Anyway, i wasnt referring to Jacks. Meant Madison would have beaten the next fastest heat winner, Fairhill Noel 28.72, 10 lengths to my calculations on the night, on the clock
By:
its 0.8 how long have you been watching dogs ? unless it changed when i was drunk in the 90s, its always been 0.8 ask Fraser Black ?
By:
its 0.7 in ireland ffs
By:
Well it was lways 0.8 in uk where i suppose it was more relevant cos flapping was where the real good dogs ran, there must be a few old handicappers on the site, who might appear and give he thread and forum some wisdom, off topic why does irish tracks still advertise races in yards ?
By:
the reason i know this ive seen it done years ago a hundred times, the photo actually showed every dog and the last finishers time time was worked out from the winner on big viewfinder, defo 0.8
By:
all tracks advertise there races in yards and metres
By:
not in the press the don't
By:
on the official programmes they do

no that has absolutely no relevance what so ever, we are talking about Shelbourne Park here where 7 spots = 1 length. Thanks!! |
