smorgasbord of superstars. tough to win with two rounds and first two through..I guess some also using as last proper run out before Derby.
I see no mention of Sand still.. ![]() & 'O Flynn not giving Tally any rest, Dundalk Intl, this, then straight into the Derby... |
|
By:
Perhaps they want to go into the Derby fresh with Sand, i do hope there is no problem with him
|
|
By:
Ballymac Vic seems to be staying much stronger now than he was earlier in the year. Has to be a really live contender now based on the run on Saturday and the lack of early among most of the main contenders.
|
|
By:
That is meant as live contender for the Derby, although he could be favourite for this comp, or sharing it with Sparta.
|
|
By:
I'm still not sure about him when in against the very best. He's a Ballymac so will have had plenty of work prior to the Tralee Unraced in March, but there in the final and Race of Champs he did not get the rubber down when it mattered, with other super hounds around him. Admittedly his SPK times are fantastic and he seems proper spacecraft, but seems so fast there of late with many dogs doing brilliant times. He defo looked the real deal last week, but was only against a decent hound or two (with McGuigan a shadow of former self) in 5 dog race.

I take it Tyrur Justin (Cabra Noel) has left Lister now then, as cant see him bringing it over? Cant remember what happened to Justin in the English Derby now. Maybe just not good enough or was he disqualified, cant remember off hand now. Think it was Tullig Joy disqualified. I remember all those name changes did my head in!
![]() |
|
By:
agree name changes maddening, cabra noel disappointing since Fahy bought him and sent him to Lister for Eng Derby only, got knocked out 3rd round, didnt win a race, the third round behind 1st bugatti, 2nd tinas nova and 3rdJudicial Ruling (Millbank POwers), the prev 2nd round was when Ruling did the flying time. Now back with Fahy, two recent trials at SPK c 28.65 and then finished 28.70ish time at tail end behind Confident Rankin when he sprouted wings last week. Noel did not run so good and lacked heart I thought round last couple of bends, but maybe needed the run.
Yep disq was Tullig Joy (now Jaytee Apache) who has since cleared and been disq again at Hove first time back. £50k down drain , shame re litter as Joy's brother Manic Scolari who cost £16k did his wrist at Monmore Puppy Derby, and may or may not be back. He looked good too |
|
By:
MANIC did look good first time round monmore
Wirst are evil things to go on hounds need half a year off and that and might not work |

Heat 3: 1 Ballymac Vic; 2 Razldazl Barack; 3 Eabhas Fantasy; 4 Coolykereen Imp; 5 Barefoot Allstar (m); 6 Tyrur McGuigan (m). Holy jesus what a race the 2nd heat is ![]() |
|
By:
yep, good enough to be Derby Final.
JFK unseeded ? |
|
By:
Vic perfectly drawn.
Skies can hopefully track around behind Bullet with Bugatti keeping middle? That 2nd heat is incredible. Jet has a brilliant dray. Heaven knows what Big Mike will do and whether it will adversely affect Maestro. |
|
By:
Does Jet have a great draw? Power Of God is bang rails and can come away
|
|
By:
Is he that tight a railer? Must watch his videos again.
I would have thought that if Jet was drawn between POG and Milldean he would have been in trouble. |
|
By:
Yeah i'm starting the card now, i remember his Shelbourne races well and he went rails from 2 in them but was clear of the inside dog

Think JFK would of needed that run last week still think he should of won from where he turned
JFK never a true wide middle auto be fine just has too show some ep he be fine! Vic as great draw only going to punt one dog wait for the prices JFK or vic? |
|
By:
Jayfkay runs best fresh in my opinion, i don't see him improving that much, last week was as quick as he has ever gone over 550y.
Vic will have to be a short priced favourite with the draw the way it's worked out. |
|
By:
Take Wimbledon out of your head Fattie and look at JFK races at HQ, not his trials, you will come to the right answer.
Now everything has a price, and if JFK's price is wrong, then he could be a bet, i doubt it though |

ain't got wimbo in my head ! Well I think so oh Defo not in my head!
I bear that in mind chop! Chopper wise words From some who post time to time |

I know the dog not showed at shel maybe he won't I do know is if any graded dog didn't show anythink your be Stright on thd blower to the trainer! |
|
By:
Vic will be short indeed.....ref the 2nd Heat that is unreal - from what I have seen of Power of God in both HQ and Clonmel the dog needs the rails - cannot see it outpacing Jet to the bend on last years SP running(long time ago I know)
Tibetian Skies should get a dream run in the first heat also Brgds Johnny |
|
By:
JFK run Saturday was a carbon copy when he raced bower paddy IMO
people thought he didn't want to pass look like that Saturday ! |
|
By:
I thought Jet was the one to take out of the Race of Champions, plot draw this week in the heat of death but i think Maestro could struggle boxed outside some much early. I'd be looking to back Jet in the outright.
Let's hope a few of the guessers price it up |
|
By:
dont know what the rest of you think, but i would rather have sparta drawn middle
|
|
By:
Agree with PF, dont think that much improvement to come from JFK, but can do better than last Saturday, imo. Anyway, never underestimate the Power of God!

|
By:
Woody don't get it not much improvement in JFK
Than you say can run better than last Saturday, If that happens ain't that inprovement ? Sorry if not Allway thought running better week later was! 3/1 vic on that that draw little skinny but bd lot shorter if in red or blue come final! |
|
By:
Fatty, what i'm trying to say is JFK goes well fresh as seen in the English Derby and maintained that level, didnt improve coz of any rustiness, but you think he will improve, he wont in my opinion. He's likely to be as good as he ever will be but just think he ran a bit flat last Saturday, that's why i'm saying can do better, not will improve. Sorry, does sound a bit confusing.
Anyway, fancy him but hoping for a bit better than 8/1, as with 16/1 Power of God. Not sure why Sparta Maestro is more than double the price of Ballymac Vic, yet half Vic's price for the Derby? Answers to www.woody@confused.com ![]() |
|
By:
I'm not sure why you're confused Woody, look at it and ignore what prices they are for the Derby.
Ballymac Vic is drawn in the weakest of the 3 heats. Sparta Maestro is drawn in as tough a race as you're likely to see. Ballymac Vic has a nice draw in 1 and will be a short priced favourite. Sparta Maestro is drawn outside of one of the fastest dogs to the bend to race around Shelbourne but also one of the worst bend runners too. Ballymac Vic clocked the fastest time of the year last week. Sparta Maestro is coming back from a 3 week lay off after picking up a knock. 3/1 does not interest me but he was always going to be put in short once the draw came out the way it did as to most he is the most likeliest qualifier for next weeks final out of the 18 entries. |

Spoilsports shortening everything
did they employ Danny by any chance as it's usually only his firm that has so much colour on oddschecker |

Champion Stakes
Rockchase Bullet @ 20/1 (small) - Like his draw a lot in his heat. He should easily have the leading of Tibetan Skies on his outside so i can see him turning 2nd to Razldazl Bugatti and from there i'd expect him to pick him up and qualify. I think he is being slightly underestimated here. Negatives are he has only had 2 sprint trials since the Betfair 600 final so i've no idea how forward he is and he'd need to be here but i'll risk it at the price, only small mind. Champion Plate Tyrur Sugar Ray @ 10/1 (had a decent pop at him) - He will take off one of these nights and i'd be hopeful it will be Saturday night as i feel off one of his decent break he should have the leading of those inside him. Obviously he is mad for the rails so the draw is crucial for him but i still feel he could be very good. Crossfield Star @ 20/1 (small) - Did a pretty rubbish trial last week so hardly ideal but he is a strong runner who could qualify from a good draw. Only 2 (w)s in the comp so the only possible bad draw i could see would be getting drawn outside of Camas. Found both comps diffucult to find bets in especially the Champion Stakes down to the draw. |
|
By:
Did you hear that he was "wrong" in the 600?
That was the rumour in the ring at the time. Hope he is over those ailments. |
|
By:
That is a super 750 tonight btw.
They will hardly show Dundalk on intertrack? I know they show Shelbourne in Dundalk but don't think it works the other way. |
|
By:
Yeah it's some race that 750y, i was trying to get a quote about a dog running tonight for the Derby but enquired with the sponsors and irelands biggest firm and both said they would get back to me but surprise surprise nothing
![]() Could well be right seen as he has been off since the 600 and only had the 2 sprints recently |
|
By:
Ok PF, but who's to say your liked dog Maestro wont get another hard heat in the Derby? 13/2 for this stake or 10/1 for the Derby. It's obvious to me what's the best bet, not that i'm keen enough on the dog to back him anyway
|
|
By:
I'd be surprised if he got a heat like that during the Derby and anyway in the first round either 3 or 4 will qualify and then 3 thereafter. I would have rathered they skipped this comp to be honest seen as he supposidly had a problem after his run 3 weeks ago.
The reason their is a discrepency in price between Vic and Maestro is the respective heats they are in, surely that is not diffucult to understand. You may not agree with it and if you think he is a big price well then back him, i can't have a decent bet on the comp as i think it's that hard and nothing really interests me. |
|
By:
PF, have you had a look at race 2 yet at HQ on sat night, just wondered what price you made the top, think 2+3 will tangle
|
|
By:
7/2 to 100% in 2nd, 11/4 around 120%, i agree with you think 2 and 3 be better the opposite way around
|
