When a greyhound is disqualified it loses all rights in that race.If a dog wins a race and is subsequently disqualified the prizemoney(and any trophy)goes to the second placed greyhound. The dog who finshed third would then recieve the prizemoney due for second place and so on with all thce other runners moving up one place. |

Pompey, while I know that that is the common sensical approach, remember its the GBGB we are dealing with here.
Can you show me where this is the case in the rules. Reason I ask, we finished second in a race where the winner was disqualified. We were paid the second race prize money and when questioned we were told what you had put, that the rule says the winner will relinquish but apparently, there's no onus on the track to pay out to the second place dog the winnings |

Does this cover it?
Rule 94 Repayment on disqualification Any person who has been paid any prize money or other prize in respect of a Greyhound in a Race shall, if such Greyhound be subsequently disqualified for that Race for any reason, repay and return such prize money and prize to the Racecourse Executive or donor thereof as the case may be, who on receipt thereof shall pay or award the same in accordance with the amended Result of the Race under Rule 95. The expression “the Result of a Race” shall have the meaning set out in Rule 140. Rule 95 Forfeit upon disqualification of Greyhound The Owner of a Greyhound that has been disqualified for Deliberate Interference in a Race shall only receive prizes and competition points as designated for the last placed Greyhound. The Owner of a Greyhound that is disqualified in a Race for any other reason shall forfeit all prizes and competition points. A Greyhound disqualified for any reason shall forfeit all other rights in respect of that Race, which shall be allocated in accordance with the Result. Seems to me that the disqualified dog is placed last and the rest shifted up one placed and paid accordingly |

I'm actually a bit sorry for the connections of the 5 - they gamely stumped up £2500 (essentially backing themselves at 5/2 when priced 5/1 in the ring) and gave it a go against a National winner. In return fortune saw their dog disqualified and if it trials back will be under the sword of damocles. I know fighting isn't a good advert for Sky dogs, but this is hurdle racing after all. I could understand Hobbs saying that maybe the judge would be lenient as in such a small field and it's an invitational match contest.

Catford: What! "Maybe the judge would be lenient in such a small field"! I'm sorry but what a lot of tosh! If a dog fights it usually picks on one dog. So, he should be disqualified irrespective of the size of the field. The only example of leiency is when you are dealing with very young pups when they are esssentially just "playing" with the other dogs and will usually get out of the habit very quickly. How did Jonathan Hobbs get a job in this game making remarks like that! As for Sky Dogs image, if they're not prepared for this then they shouldn't be presenting the sport.

Catford. So should we allow hurdlers to fight as often as they want and just let them get on with it?

If what you say is correct, the track concerned have not acted correctly. If the winner was disqualified and your dog finished second you are entitled to the winning prizemoney. The disqualified dog is placed last and all the other runners move up one place. If you contact the GBGB they will confirm this and you should pursue the matter with the track concerned. What track was it? |

Mountjoy Comet DID run in this years springbok.
I should know, I had a large chunk on at 20/1 to watch him miss the break and get murdered at the corner in the 1st round :( |
|
By:
Sorry Zach, didn't know. But why go back on the flat if there's a big question mark hanging over him?
|
|
By:
There was a question mark hanging over Comet from the time he ran in the Tony Morris Unraced Final (won the race well), i think most knew he was an accident waiting to happen at that stage.
