I thought it was about time we had our own forum, vent feelings, opinions, compare notes etc, seems to be a few of us about on the forums so lets have ago!!!

Did anyone play the bags today and how did you go? Also we have the 15k jackpot for fridays meeting coming up might even be 20k by saturday if it is not won, anyone have a big go or syndicate?

Also a point of note was that was approached today by a somewhat unhappy bookie about 'How Fars' comments about betting percentages on the night time so lets have a look at friday and saturdays just gone

its not stirring but alot of punters were moaning about percentages recently some saying they were staying away because of it, so being fair ive put up percentages, and for the SGT i will do percentages when pearce has finally gone and compare, but majority of pearce gambles were done on the bags so I suspect the night time percentages will be largely unaffected. It might be a case that the bookies have nothing to answer for and they are doing a fine job, if so let it be known!

what annoys more than the dismal sp%s ,as a punter and owner ,is that the sp% is normally
the best ,2 minutes before the off is far worse ,4mins....ridiculous , like to bet before the race and rejoin my fellow racegoers upstairs ,to watch , found an easy way to do this ,bet sp on the phone ,dont bother those on-course chappies who bet 180% first show , dont think anybody can blame mr pearce for this scenario! |

With all the non runners tonight and in my anger at the management of the track due to the jackpot being cancelled I did not do the starting sp prices percentage I apologise but will endeavour to do when next at the track!

Cant agree more with poor percentages at hall green. Could be worse though only 2 bookmakers at perry barr on a saturday Keith Johnson puts a price up and the other one goes a quarter of a point less.
They should show a betting show from the tote instead when the percentages are so low. |

When bookmakers first starting buying tracks as a lame solution to them paying some form of compensation to dog racing when they , the bookmakers were clearly at fault for falling attendances trackside, one of there first quotes was.
" we wont raise the prize money" HMM. dont need to be a member of mensa to work out the madness behind there method, so why now should the general public complain when so many gambles on the dogs are pulled off every day, dogs with little recent graded form steaming in too 6/4 or less in pearces case, but of course he was doing it to the point of showing the reality of the game wasnt he? or was he? or was he just good at his job training, the big question is though why do dogs run for 100 quid when if 10,000 betting shops with say if a tenner on each race, thats £100,000 on each race and they cant raise the prize money because. BOOKMAKERS PROMOTE FIXING AT THERE TRACKS AND WE ALL KNOW IT AND I DONT CARE IF I GET KICKED UP THE ASS FOR SAYING IT BUT THE BLAME LIES FIRMLY AT THE BOOKMAKERS< BAGS < FEET! |

Thats why now that bookmakers practically own the dog racing in this country so when markets form at there tracks they start them all off at 3/1, because they know whats going on and dont want to get caught wuth there pants down.

If I was in power I would have all the dog and horse racing compensated by the bookmakers else close them down and raise the levy, also place restrictions on FOBTS as these machines are ruining the next generation of new punters lives. All sports betting should be trackside and online only, no need for gambling joints on street corners at all.

actually prize money is better at bookmaker owned tracks than other tracks Bookmakers do not promote fixing on BAGS, if they think it is going on then the track would lose its contract Neither do they start all dogs off at 3/1 I am sure punters wish they would I am sure there are many on here would love to kick you up the arse fanatic |

How much more, an extra tenner say, pathetic, bookmakers loved accusing betfair of being open to race fixing and yet clearly bookmakers have payed all the top stables for racing info for whats in form"INSIDER TRADING" its called in the city, and they fix pricing at all courses and tracks with there cronies using office money to make false runs in markets, even false steamers at national hunt flat when they can afford it. the list goes on and on and there are many , many pros and casual gamblers that know all about the many ways bookmakers have plied there crooked game for years now, avoiding winners, trying not to pay large winnings out, avoiding any levies, avoiding tax by moving off shore, good god when will it all end is the question?

I dont know why you keep attacking bookmakers fanatic do betfair bring anything to greyhound or horse racing that bookmakers dont some could argue a lot less they certainly help the punter so why do you not just use betfair as that is best wya of hurting bookies which dog track do you bet at fanatic? |

Betfair and on line gambling in general
is a far bigger threat to both greyhound and horse racing than betting shops are because they encourage people to bet at home and not go to the tracks or courses for a bet Indeed it is on line gambling which has caused the current crisis in greyhound racing over the last 10 years It is probably only the BAGS service to betting shops which has kept the sport alive It guarantees tracks an income..even if no one goes Greyhound racing survived the opening of betting shops in 1961 It may not survive Betfair or on line gambling in general which you keep promoting fanatic  you are indeed[smiley:crazy][smiley:crazy][smiley:crazy][smiley:crazy] |

Some of the opening shows put through by sis must be atotal embarrasment to bettingshop operators.Would it not be better to hold the first show until it was respectable percentage,or not put as show up at all.Bags are paying good money for these meetings and are getting a poor service.

Anyone know if pill pixie has to retrial after yesterday's shocking run on bags. 3/1 on track 8/1 the machine never picked a boot up, 2 strides from the box you could tell the dog was not at the races as broke ok. Or gone lame maybe?

Was hardly a bump and got 29.34 and against some very weak opposition. I and plenty of others on the bags thought visually the dog was not trying at all. Obviously I can't repeat some of the comments and also the clock is not always the definitive answer to everything as otherwise we could take it on its 29.34 trial etc?

Yes I understand your stance Dave, but don't you think that dogs that come last run poor and are drifting on machine, on course it opened up 3/1 into 5/2 then prices only drifted with books when the alarm bells went off with plenty laid upto 8/1. No accusations but very suspicious

Maybe it was more about strength of interest in the winner
Won an A8 by a short head, upgraded to A5 (as a reserve to do the track a favour?) and was beaten 1/2 length waiting after leading, dropped back to A7 here and duly won well. I think that you might be reading too much into it. |

Quite simple really
Better break, involved in the race throughout, with a target to reach and get past on the run in, rather than being a long way behind. Conspiracy theories are all well and good, but people see a lot of things that aren't really there. On times and form, there was never a reason for the Racing Manager to ask for a retrial. |

Have you actually looked at the dog's full form?
Without wish to cause offence, it just looks like a very moderate dog. 10 runs on the GBGB database, and it's been beaten a total of 54 lengths in it's previous 9 races, dropping from A4 to A7 in the process (and with a six month break in the middle) If there's a standout before the win, it's not the previous race that you're querying, but the one before where it was only beaten 1/2 a length. |

Thinking about this a bit more, I still believe that there was no justification for a retrial.
But let's suppose that you had your way, and a retrial was called for. The dog trials in 29.90-30.00 and goes back into A7 (which is perfectly reasonable, and any other action could not be justifie) It then comes out a week later and wins in 29.75, as in the race you're now talking about. What's been achieved or proved? What's change? |

I am afraid you are too caught up in the clock daveg, the dog broke well when it was not buzzing, didnt have a run in it. on times no a retrial is not asked for, when bookies are laying a dog first price 3/1 into 5/2 on course then you can have whatever you want at 8/1 then it runs like a sack of spuds, then next time after 2 week break it wins??? Every regular punter on the track being having a laugh at it, the bookies are relieved as only bits on the track for it, off course job if i have ever saw one, the trainer currently suspended from bags racing too, we all know it was knocked and now I am not so sure how accurate the clock is at hg, we have been clocking trial times, some have been considerably out!!! Wake up and smell the roses. Another thing why dont we get replays before a meeting of previous meetings like we did a few years back? surely technology has moved on not backwards, personally I would have every trial shown as well, would all help towards integrity in the sport!
