Fiver @ 400 Theegala...been in great form
Fiver on Detry at 570 and a Fiver on English @ 400. And for some strange reason, which I'm still struggling to comprehend, I've got £11 on the one and only....Sepp Straka, at 1000/1 |

no wind at st andrews means these guys will rip it to shreds.......rory will love the conditions
|

have you not seen the forecast..? 25-30mph winds all week. They will do well to get to -10 if so

The Open app has shottracker for the first time. Just sign up th the "one club" to be able to access it during play. Thomas/Burns so for for me and a FRL bet on Seamus Power ew 7 places.

It's Scotland, on the coast.....the wind will blow!

Bet365 just went 66/1 Wee Rory to be 1st round leader, and lift the Claret Jug.....has to be worth £20 of our Great British Pounds!

Scrambling stats a big indicator to prior winners at St Andrews but if the wind doesn't blow hard, suspect that is driving the market push for Smith. If the wind doesn't blow hard though not sure how many greens these guys are gonna miss, not many I suggest.
Rory looks as primed for a major as he has been since Valhalla. Hopefully that doesn't equate to a Portrush style disappointment but current form, course form and preferrable weather while missing the rain on Friday there can be no excuses if he doesn't show up. Would not be surprised if he wins by 6. |

Weather looks pretty good for Scotland. Some breeze, the odd shower but 20-23 degrees all four days.
|
|
By:
Yep, no real weather advantage at present, obviously there will be a window at some stage we're the wind drops for a few hours but overall no excuses for anyone. Looks like 3 or 4 of these par 4s will be reachable, all about the luck then of avoiding the faces of the green side bunkers.

40 Morikawa? That is some price!

some people are going to be giving out this week calling it a glorified pitch n putt course

I THINK Rorys prince at 10/1 is not great value in a field of 156, with the fast fairways it could bring a quite a few of the so called outsiders. A good wedge player might be the way to go. good luck with your bets lads

tiger is 1.90 to make the cut.......he made the cut at the masters and the pga which is simply astonishing given he has only played 2 tournaments all year and is so injured he could not play the 4th round of the pga......i know if i back him to make the cut he will miss it and if i lay him, he will make it.......so im going to give it a miss. its impossible to read the guy.

This shot view thing is better than nothing but not by much.
|
|
By:
This app is dirt compared to the masters app. Shot view is pants and the featured holes is giving commentary and frozen pictures

Agree, the Shot View is dire.
Worst thing about the majors (except the PGA) is that they try to do their own shot-tracking. I understand they want the traffic but can't they leave 365 to do their usual operation, too. No good for the in-players. |
|
By:
Failing that, why are they so much worse at it? They've nowhere near live, and can't view multiple players in one simple location.
|
|
By:
If this is the wind they get all week I think we will see a new major scoring record.

The 21 year old English amateur Barclay Brown, who finished at a very healthy 4 under, birdied the hardest hole on the course, the "Road Hole" 17th - dropping a 60+ foot putt, then drove the 18th and,........three putted!
That;s golf in a nutshell! One bet - Patrick Cantlay at 30.0 on here. |

Stay left, putt like God and you;ve a chance.
Marvellous, iconic, magical memories of past championships there and brilliant winners but the old course is no longer fit for purpose. Without a wind it is no challenge at all to these guys. Call my view sacrilege if you like but it doesn;t alter the fact. And yet nothing will make me ever forget my one and only play at the course. Hairs stood up on the back of my neck as I teed it up on the first and settled to swing! And one over until the Road Hole! |
|
By:
I think that depends on what you define as fit for purpose.
Not sure we need it every 5 years, but taking it out of the rota would be an outrage, at least not until someone goes round in -26 for the week. The way we talk on this forum about the old course is like Young's round today is nothing special whatsoever. -15 the winning score last time out and the one before that only Louis was double digits under par. |
|
By:
Solid start for Rory, opening rounds in majors have been a pain point for him. 66 just what the doctor ordered.

difficult pins , a bit of wind and 64 scored by th american later the wind may drop , easier pins and a 61/2 will be seen , tough course lol
