New course again and all the love seems to for Morikawa who practices here. Be interesting to see how the ryder cup players perform after their respective breaks. No value in Johnson but he was impressive in the RC. Ancer was disappointing last week but cobwebs might have been blown away and decent odds as a result.

Robert Streb being 6 under through 5 on a course they've never used before somewhat suggests they might have picked one that's a bit too easy.

Some tough looking holes in the wind for the afternoon wave. 11th is a bit much, 251 yard par 3 severely down hill, bunkers right and water left.

No wind and they'll tear it to shreds.

No wind to speak of over the weekend which would be the only real defence so you're probably not far off. Might see a run or two at the 59. On first time unfamiliar tracks like this they do tend to start off very easy on the pins and setup then try to get harder over the weekend but I'm not sure there's much they can do with this place in calm conditions.

Keith could be pushing 20 today the way he's playing.

If Mitchell happens to have an average day, this could still be wide open, with some juicy prices around for some seriously good players. A big "If" mind.

Rickie's approach play and putting good enough to win if he keeps it in play, the concern as always is the driver gets wild when he's under pressure. If he can keep it out of the desert for 18 holes he's got a great chance. Big day for him after the couple of years he's had so interesting to see how he copes.

Hitting it to a foot on the first certainly settles the nerves.

Remember him thinning a short wedge into the water as he tried to close his last win (then incurring a penalty trying to execute the resultant drop, too, if memory serves).

I had been thinking about Rickie and his love of the h2O just a few mins ago

6 under par beats 3 guys from a 77 man field. Not the toughest track.

Yeah, good shot to avoid it on 11. Not many finding water on 12 or 13 but Rickie could still find a way.

Collin run out of steam. Decent game going on in New England Hank. Also seen a bit of the Longhorns over the last couple of weeks, Bijan Robinson is unbelievable to watch.

Not the biggest event but could be the start of a big season for Rory if it gets the momentum going early. I know he gets a lot of stick but if he can cut out a bit of sloppiness he should still be a top 5 golfer.

Not many in the world playing better than Sam at the moment. Hope he keeps playing to keep the momentum going, guys like Brooks or Oosty won't play much before spring so chance for him to get even higher.

I think he'll play at least one more this year. Likes the southern states so Sea Island probably but also went well in Houston so might go back there also. On the back of this high finish another trophy might get him in the top 10 in 2021 which would be neat.

Yeah, would make sense for him to play those two, another win would be a big head start for the season. Then to really justify a high ranking he needs to start contending in the majors and the bigger events next year. Going close in the WGC was another step in the right direction.

I think right now TB he is a similar position and on a similar path to JT prior to his breakout year (2017). Maybe not as much hype as what was associated to JT but he had the bonus of being Spieth's best mate so had a higher profile than his results warranted at the time.

Big things are coming

Rory should start giving Fazio a percentage.

Yeah agree, not an instant star but he's just smoothly moved along, had a few bad final rounds but learning and gaining experience as he goes. You look at his stats and it's unusual for a guy who drives it as well as he does to putt as well as he does, sky's the limit.
