Adam Scott scored a level par 71 in the 1st round, which, if you predicted it scores 3 points. If you went for 70 or 72, it's 1 point.
The 1st round leader foresight was a bit lacking though! Joint leaders; Thorbjorn Olesen and Kevin Kisner (well done 2 of you) share the 10 available points for 1st and 2nd so are worth 5 points each. In joint 3rd at the moment are: Stroud, Woodland, Murray, Koepka and Points, who share the remaining 3 points (I used "points" twice in the same sentence there!) and who, if anyone had picked any of them, would have been worth 0.6 points. To avoid any upcoming "stewards enquiries" I gave a list of 21 players beginning with a J, then proceeded to list 20 !!!!!
I missed JJ Wood and tbh wasn't even aware of Jordan L Smith's existence. But, typically enough 1 has made the cut and 1 hasn't. So - there should have been 21 in the list, there were 20. There were 22 taking part.  Therefore to be fair to everyone. I will give 3 points each to the actual number qualifying and 1 number less. 1.5 points each to 1 number each side of that and 1 point to 1 number more and less as well. Which I'm not over the moon about since I predicted 11 and probably would have gained my 1st 4 points. This tournament has proven to be relatively awkward since I started arranging it. This has been exacerbated by my ineptitude as detailed on the post above this one.
And some slightly erroneous information given by me at the outset of the comp. And overnight hold-ups for weather and darkness..... Section C. There were actually 11 players with a 1st name beginning with J making the cut. Which seems about fair given that 11 didn't make it. As described above the points distribution is as follows: If you picked 10 or 11 you score 3 points, 9 or 12 scores 1.5 points, 8 or 13 scores 1 point. Section D. The cut mark - +5. This is worth 3 points, +4 or +6 are worth 1 point each. I know I said no-one had picked +5, but mengmeng had added +5 in a separate post before the competition started following a reminder that he'd not put a proper choice in his entry. It seems, quite typically, that the USPGA is the least predictable major.
For example, 2 of my tiebreak golfers, added as less serious contenders, mainly for their names, are in the 1st 2 places at the end of R3, Together with the bloke who's been looking like the best 1/6 shot for anything, ever!!!! Sections E and F are further examples (imho) of how much more difficult big golf tournaments are than our Open was this year. The best score managed by anyone in R3 was 67 (scored quite early in the day by JB Holmes and Satoshi Kodeira) If you predicted 67 you score 2 points for section E. As for the 20 quite favoured players, Section F: 6 of them are in the top 20 with a day to go, so 4 points for saying 6, 2 points for 5 or 7, 1 point for 4 or 8. All meaning the current scoreboard at half way in the competition and 1 day to go is as follows:
