The final holes at the WGC is resembling last night's penalty shootout between Italy and Germany. |

Has been a near immaculate front runner in recent times as well. The decision to go for it with his 3rd would love to have back.

2014 Rory was king of the world. For most of 2015 Spieth was the man. Quickly over to Day, now DJ may have his turn. Funny game. Really makes you appreciate what Tiger did all those years. As good as these guys are, none of them are even close to the great man.

Rory was supposed to rule golf for the next 10 years, now seriously has his work cut out to get back into the top 3.

All piling into the Barracuda now, yeah?

Other than Day's T4 last year DJ's Open record is much better, can make a case for DJ being favourite.

BACK TO IT'S USUAL SLOT in 2017 after last August's one time switch due to The Olympics.
WELCOME to the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on the South Course at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. Martin Kaymer will sit out the next few weeks "fighting a shoulder injury... after playing The Open Championship under medication...back strong at the Made in Denmark." Meanwhile Rory McIlroy finally returns three years after he won there. Prior to his victory in 2014, opening 71 then 66-68-68, he had 3 T8 finishes in 5 starts on this course without entirely convincing. News that he's ditched long term caddie JP Fitzgerald - some say he will gain a few shots, more say JP was top class - bet accordingly ! |
|
By:
Sergio Garcia will make a 15th start at Firestone - few players have that course experience, but with two exceptions he’s never really thrived there. In fact he has just 2 T10 finishes in 14 starts. The standouts were his debut in 1999, when he was T7, and 2014 when he led by three shots heading into the final round only for a 73 to leave him T2. He averages 68.64 in Rd 1 and has 7 T10 after 18 holes. But his final round average is 71.14, with just two sub-par efforts - 33/1 FRL !

Few bits n pieces on way down too..7ft for par on 4..![]() Pieters has 11ft on 1st though. ![]() Very steady player but surely this favours the bombers. |
