they were having this debate on the golf channel over whether bill haas can catch his father jay in terms of number of pga tour wins. jay finished with 9, bill currently on 6.
surely it's going to be difficult for a 35 year old who struggles to get over the line at all these days to win three more times, particularly in this era where the strength in depth is stronger than ever and you have all these young guns around. I wouldn't be surprised if he never won again. Just made a double on a par five after splitting the fairway. I have a theory with older players that part of the reason why they struggle to win again is because the older you get, the more prone to nerves you become. |

My theory about older players is that they don't play to their strengths, but play to try negate their weaknesses

It's stuff like this short par 4 17th hole that makes it so hard for me fully trust Fowler - that is one horrendous bogey

It's stuff like this short par 4 17th hole that makes it so hard for me fully trust Fowler - that is one horrendous bogey he does tend to get ahead of himself when he gets into winning positions- which is probably one of the reasons why he hasn't won more however for me he is playing as good a golf as anyone right now, and who can you truly trust, rory seems to throw away tournaments with alarming regularity these days, spieth is a basket case on the short putts and even dj blew up in asia recently seems unfair to pick on fowler because of one bad shot when he's done such good stuff of late was expecting him to be around evens- 2-1 seems very decent |

Rickie Fowler has had 27 putts inside 10 feet so far this week. He has made all 27 of them !

Surely you jest. 2-1 is suicide odds on a guy in this position with his record. He is tied for the lead not 3 in front. Hank is absolutely right - Rickie was -4 thru 6 holes playing the front 9 which in his own words he finds much harder than the back. Signing for a -5 round is rarely a bad thing, but he blew a golden chance in round 2 to put clear daylight between him and the rest. Can't believe the price to be honest. |

didn't he win recently.. a non-pga tour event but a stellar albeit limited field and he shot 11 under in the last round? and who are his nearest challengers... multiple winners berger and dechambeau? happy to take the suicide odds thanks ![]() hank is absolutely wrong ![]() |

mr "go low on saturday" justin thomas, is on fire. 3 under through 3 and a birdie putt upcoming on the fourth.
so much for having a hangover from his 2017 year. |

Magnificent start by Justin Thomas. When Fowler has a bad day he checks out mentally, the other top guys are better are regrouping and coming back strong the next day.

don't get the obsession with the 16th, like it's the most amazing thing ever to see a bunch of drunk and boorish americans.

That's JT done. He'll finish the day around 12/13 under.

can't believe fowler is choking this away! should have listened to you guys.

Poor start for Fowler - still overrated for me - 29 and 4 pga wins. I like watching him when he is playing well, but been overtaken by JT etc

Great player, obviously has the talent. Just the conversion rate needs fixing. Long way to go Ranger.

if you include the worldwide wins then it's what, 7 wins at least? think you are being harsh. because he has a big following he gets strongly judged. actually your comments remind me of a view years ago when he was judged the most overrated player in a poll of his peers (joint with poulter I believe) and then went on to win the players. think fowler will breakout soon and prove a lot of his doubters wrong. |
|
By:
Hard to back against the Pats Hank. Whether they play scary D's or high powered offences, they just win don't they. Eagles a shot though, they need to hit Brady. Been wondering if (when) the Jimmy G trade bites them. Still can't believe they ditched him. A 40 year old winning the SB would be a bit silly.

doubters will remain until it happens though - this is a yearly prediction from many a pundit. I only think he's judged harshly because he is clearly a better player than his trophy cabinet suggests. |

What the hell is happening to JT on the back 9 ??
He's going to get publicly crucified at 16 if he makes a mess of that hole. Maybe that's what he's thinking about !!! |
