I agree with you lads. I'm big on DJ. Getting that no major monkey on his back may just transform him and he's always been suited to links golf and looked an Open winner in waiting. Can't really see any chunks in his armour either. I've been against Rory all season but might have a saver on him this week.

My other bets so far are Scott, Grace, Koepka, Sullivan, Cabrera Bello and can't leave big Ernie out.

Wind due to be around 17mph on first 2 days. Are we looking to flight the ball under the wind or will it suit the bombers anyway?

I'm not sure its imperative to side with the long hitters at Troon.

Not a whole lot I'm interested in, quite a few of the mid rangers coming in with no form - Matsy, Rose, Fowler, Bubba etc. Have to be on Westwood, 2 near misses in the majors this year and 4th here last time. If ever it's gonna happen for him it must be The Open. The more mature players have had a good run in recent years as well - Zach, Ernie, Darren, Phil and even the really mature in Watson and Norman. 60s is fair enough imo.

I've only backed seven so far, including a €100 mistake on John Daly when I was trying to back someone else. Blush

Gutted. Only difference between Day and Daly is the "L"

I'd say it massively suits a fader of the ball. The vast majority of holes are right to left. Got to say Noren looks a big price after last week as it sets up really well for him.

Surely if the majority of holes are right to left that favours someone who draws the ball?

1982 open at troon was a funny one

bobby clampett shot 133 for first 36 to lead by 5...
then 155 over the weekend to tie 10th place, 4 behind
the winner tom watson

bing crosby's son nat played, having won 1981 us amateur title

its an anti clockwise course and in theory sets up for a left to right

it will be interesting to see if the likes of dj and nic colsearts can
take on some of the big carries that might unlock a few shots

maybe that rules reed out then... doesn't he only play a draw?

if pebble beach is any guide then surely brandt snedeker must have a good shot

i dont think a draw will rule anybody out, but fade is good here

and pebble beech will surely always link into the open ?

only the 10th and 15th are doglegs left from the tee, all the others look like a fade is the best option.

wish I had entered now my power fade sorry slice would have been ideal for this track

I know its too early to be exact, but I can't really see much advantage in the draw regarding weather. On the forecasts I've looked at its similar all day Thursday and Friday. Still think early or late is always good on any links course though, so delighted with the draw for Adam Scott, first out on Thursday.

Sky already throwing their weight around putting Donald,Monty and Leishman out first, used to be three nobody's out first thing. Also silly having Day,Rory and Spieth out within four groups of each other, why not put one out before or after Dusty in the afternoon?
Rant over.
