its amazing how before it starts theres 10 billion up to back on everybody, then it starts and you can get tuppence on anybody at any price
By:
Yeah....especially when i see £2 all over the place.
By:
right now someone wants to lay mcilroy for nearly 2k at 15.5...once he tees off, theyll want to lay him for £2 at 12.0. whoever lays these markets is a joker. obviously got a real job and cant be arsed to trade it properly.

why leave bets up when others can see what is happening ?

why leave bets up when others can see what is happening ? exactly!!!! |
By:
By:
Because there is other people who see what is happening before we do therefore if you have money sitting inplay you may as well be handing it to them
By:
bob was talking about different amounts available before players tee off compared with amounts whilst on course
By:
ahh ok - yes seen i work in in-running, i can back up - if your not up to speed do not leave yer bets in, only gunna be taken if they've done good.
By:
Standing still for a while. Did it right with Bubba, traded Scott and Tiger well.
Still in trouble with Rose, Leishman and Charl.![]() ![]() |
By:
yeh but youd think 1 person in the world must be watching it so can trade it properly. 90% of the time a golfer is standing around doing nothing, yet all day theres just £2 up on nearly everybody. only time a large chunk goes up is when someone knows theyve just played a bad shot!
By:
see - your thinking of betfair circa - 2010 ish - when there was no PC and the markets had liquidity - do people remember them days?
would take a brave and rich man to try and make a proper book inrunning with the monies on offer!!! |
By:
ive put up bets i want at lower odds than i know they should be, just cos i want the thing matched. but youve got no chance of it being matched unless they play a bad shot.
earlier i wanted to back somebody, couldnt cos there was bugger all up for at least 20 minutes so had to back them with the sportsbook. 2 minutes later theyd missed a putt and were a 50% bigger price on the exchange than id just took! so-called traders are missing out on laying bets cos they either dont put any money up at all, or put it up then take it down within 3 seconds. if anybody puts up a chunk, you know its cos theyve just got in the rough or missed a putt, cos its the only time any bugger wants to lay anything! |
By:
It's Friday so in-running tends to be quieter than the weekend......i'd put up £100 on Rose to back and got matched then laid off....all in 5 minutes = boosting my greens on Rose.....sometimes one has to take a bit of risk....
By:
as i say , all the people who used to make the market are getting charged 20/40/50 or 60% on there bets , it makes it impossible to play
By:
if i had reliable regular pictures, and i thought anybody would actually bet on the thing, id probably lay a book myself. but its not worth the hassle cos of the £2s. imo the £2s have killed liquidity on all sports more than the premium charge. Whats the point creating a book, when a bot just sticks £2 in front of you every time?
By:
bah im getting further and further in the red here. think I need to just take a loss, put it down as a bad day and hope one of my picks goes on a run of birdies
By:
By:
yep - i sit next to 3 people everyday for the last 10 years who used to enjoy playing around in the golf markets every week - one pays 20 one 40% and one 50% - they never ever have a sports bet with these anymore - very sad.

anyway back to golf - C'MON Bubba about to be four under me thinks

By:
bubba having a great couple of days now would be awesome for me
By:
been no money at all on leishman for about 10 minutes. then out of the blue nearly a grand at 9.2, which is too low really. then within a split-second the lot has gone. almost all of it unmatched. dunno why they bother. may as well stay in bed.
By:
im gonna do that, see what the point is. watch out for it. im gonna put up a big lay, then cancel it before anybody gets the chance to take it! this is fun!

me and my big mouth :/

![]() oh. hes -3 again. ![]() |

By:

By:
i think he was praising that bet mighty whites, without commenting if backing or laying was preferable
the joker is the 2 pound guy in running , i think |
By:
Its an exchange people put up prices they think are fair. If you want to back or lay someone then put up the money. The overnight market had an over round in the high 90s which was pretty much in line with what you would expect. Leaving money up in play is highly risky because as the event is in play the circumstances change.
