Not a tournament I have taken much interest in over the years. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is played on a rotation course wise. Is the course next week a stiff course? Anything helpful appreciated. Just trying to start building a team and too exhausted to do research after the Open! Seems a good turnout next week though.

CLUB HISTORY

Royal Montreal is the oldest golf club in North America, having been founded in 1873. In that year, a small group of eight gentlemen sat in a dockside office and formed the Montreal Golf Club.

Eleven years later, in 1884, permission was granted by Queen Victoria to use the “Royal” prefix.

The first golf course was a 9-hole layout on Fletcher’s Field, part of Mount Royal Park, which was shared by the red coated golfers and other citizens relaxing in what was then the outskirts of Montreal.

In 1896, the Club moved to Dixie, in the parish of Dorval, where it remained until the pressures of urban growth again dictated a decision to move. The clubhouse at Dixie is now the Queen of Angels Academy for Girls.

The last move was to Ile Bizard in 1959, where 45 holes were constructed. The Blue Course continues to be ranked as one of the “100 Greatest Courses in the World”.

Royal Montreal was one of the five founding Clubs of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1995. The RCGA is the governing body of golf in Canada and organizes the major national championships, including the Canadian Open, the first of which was played at Royal Montreal in 1904. Since then, the Club has played host to the Canadian Open in 1908, 1913, 1926, 1950, 1975, 1980, 1997 and 2001. Of special note is that the Canadian Open was won in 1954 by Pat Fletcher, who served as the Club’s Head Professional from 1955 to 1975. This was the last Open victory, to date, by a Canadian player.

In September 2007, Royal Montreal wrote another chapter in its history when it hosted The Presidents Cup; an event which enables the World’s best non-European players to compete in international team match play competition against the Top 12 PGA TOUR players in the United States.

Royal Montreal is proud of its history, traditions, facilities and, of course, its Members and Staff.

erm to be honest, just in case anyone's trying to study them lol, there from 2001 13 YEARS AGO so not actually that much to gain from them, just I wanted to teach myself to do the tables properly, sad I know but...

It was the last time this course was used like so not totally useless..

only thing I get from em is, maybe it's quite an easy course in comparison to lately, what I mean is the ranking is spread over all the attributes, winner was top ten in fairways hit and gir - with greens being most I suppose with everyone at the top lowish.

so without ever looking at the course they work better if u have lol - using top half of some stats from 13 years ago and only one time nowt to judge against - I will tell you that you need some-one who's good with the irons and gets lots and lots of birdies, no plodding here.

Play-off !..... YES PLEASE 11/4... tanks for dat.

After there is a tie for the lead at the end of 72 holes, there will be a sudden death play-off beginning on the 18th hole.

If still tied after the first play-off hole, players will then play the 17th hole, then 18th hole,
repeating each hole until a winner is determined.

Very rare I go for guys under 33/1 but i'm in quite big on G Mac this weekend. He's in good form at the minute and looking at the course stats were par 4 scoring is so important and that being one of his strengths I think he's got to go close in this field.

The one thing putting me off though is that Jeremy Chapman has tipped him up LaughCrazy

From what I have seen of the course, -10 would be competitive and there or thereabouts. However i think the winning score will be a bit less at around -14.

The more I look in to this tournament, the more GMac just seems to tick every box. A course that should suit his game down to the ground in a weakened depleated field. BIG win bet on G Mac.
