A tad lucky there spiffy boy.
By:
the luck has been with him all round
By:
Spieth barely sunk a putt all day, could have been 15/16 under if the putter was going today. Bit of a stand off with Kaymer and Spieth. The winner will come from this group and whoever gets the next bogey loses - either today or tomorrow.
By:
So if one of them bogeys the first of 18 hole tomorrow it's all over??? You must have never watched a Sunday 4th round before......it doesn't tend to be that simple!
By:
Just my opinion. Looks like they've started to treat this as matchplay and a bogey will be a big mental upset.
Looking forward to it tomorrow. |
By:
I predict a bogey from both leaders.
By:
Bogey from Spieth.... (incoming)
By:
Nice putt from Spiffy

Well played, Jordan.
By:
54 holes without a bogey - impressive
By:
They we are, Jordan wins it then

poor play from kaymer, wrong club from tee,bad approach, seems to be feeling the pressure imo
spieth been very lucky esp on back 9 imo |
By:
Winning score - 14 under.
By:
spieth is blessed with luck...will not hold up tomorrow
By:
At least, or i hope, tomorrow will be a cracking round.
By:
hope your right, the -9 unders are still in this also
By:
Think that's a bit unfair on him. No-one is blessed with luck. Luck hasn't got him however many top 10's on his rookie year, plus a PGA tour win and a second at Augusta. I'm not a fanboy but he's the real deal.
By:
-8 and -9 are still in it........some cracking early birdies form any of them would upset the market, also put pressure on the leaders.
By:
Sorry, not all in the same year obviously, but it seems like he's only been around 5 minutes and is making a huge stance in the golfing world. We'll see how long it lasts though...
By:
We'll see how long it lasts though...
Exactly my sentiment. |
By:
Yeah absolutely. He seems to have a temperment most seasoned pros would pay good money for though. I know I'd like to be that calm on my local course. All the best with whoever you've backed.

How did Sergio look?
By:
Third week in a row I have a guy In place Sunday. Hope Kaymer gets it done tomorrow
By:
Sergio played well missed a tiddler on 17 which spoiled his round
By:
Cheers Mighty

By:
Minded to lay a bit of Speith and Kaymer at about 4/7 coupled, a bit out of Senden. And put some on to Garcia, even though I've missed the price and a bit onto Woodland.
By:
Clubhouse eagle for Justin, don't see many of those.
By:
Indeed v odd all round

It's probably the right outcome but it's a huge can of worms. Imagine if he goes on to win...

How can they say the movement of the ball wasn't visible to the naked eye when he clearly saw it and stopped ?
By:
Yeah, that's the big question. I'm not sure about this at all. Plus he now gets an earlier tee time than he should have at -7, which could actually be an advantage gained from the situation.
By:
Why is Rose teeing off now when he has -7? Am i missing something?
By:
Oh 2 shot penalty rescinded....nice one.
By:
So to sum up this shambles
- Rose sees the ball move as he addresses it. In order for him not to have called a penalty on himself and replaced it he must have decided that it was in it's original position (moved back) when he took the club away? I'd say if there's a doubt you should call the penalty but.... - after the round officials say the ball moved position, he didn't replace it - 2 shot pen - 18 hours later they take away the 2 shot pen. So they must be saying the ball didn't move from it's original position at all (no pen). It doesn't look like that from the pictures but ... - they cite this new rule which is about the ball moving when the player couldn't reasonably have seen it move. So it did move? - then they tee him off out of position |
By:
Basically you'd summed it up bally.
The new rule, as i thought, applies when a player didn't know of any rule infringement but was later pointed out by fans watching it on TV and being a grass. |
By:
Ewan just quoted this rule...
18-4. By Fellow-Competitor, Caddie or Equipment in Stroke Play If a fellow-competitor, his caddie or his equipment moves the player’s ball, touches it or causes it to move, there is no penalty. If the ball is moved, it must be replaced. |
By:
Yes, I think the HD rule is misapplied. The rule is so that a player who has no way of detecting an infringement cannot be penalised for not spotting it. This isn't the situation here: Rose clearly had some doubt that the ball had moved, so he obviously detected it. It was then checked, was confirmed it did move, and he signed for a 73. It's harsh but I don't see how the HD rule gets him out of it.
