My wife is the bird spotter here , tober . Loads of the smaller finch varieties about this year here .
Wonder will Rory cut loose today , he backed out pretty badly yesterday after hitting around 7 on here , presumably when he was minus 5 . Course set up must have been relatively easy yesterday , considering the scoring when the greens are not at their best . If they tighten up the pin positions today ther might be some spectacular falls from grace . All grist to the mill , and enjoyable , felt sorry for the punters who lumped on Henley as 1st round leader , that looked nailed on until Martin got hold of the bit . The bookies wouldn't have quoted a price on him around tea time last night I suspect . Hope the guys who got big prices on him in that market traded out some of their potential profit . |

Sent you a text, toberaheena. Taking my own advice and reducing the liability. On the bird watching front, a couple of young long-tailed tits tried to fly through my window a week ago, even though it was closed. Have had a goldfinch and a yaffle in the garden recently.

I think the Kaymer price is pretty good Quincy. It's a decent lead on the big guns he has, and as Ski says going out early. I now have him for a small win, and have moved a chunk of Zach to Henley as well.

what is the forecast weather conditions like for today guys ? i think 5/6 with 365 for the cut to be made at 144 and under looks a great bet.

Lovely weather....low wind speed 9mp/h.....afternoon....13 to 15 mp/h. Advantage to morning players i think.

Just added Martin Kaymer for a green of + €153. No liability. Per advice of Ski and Quincy.

Kevin Chappell -5 today after 7holes

Martin Kaymer may go to number one in golf rankings if he finishes anywhere in the top 6 as far as I know. But 3.60 now with only 1 and a half rounds played. A lay for me now because he should, I hope, be bigger than that come close of play tonight.
|
|

I'm never quite sure if you're fishing, but Kaymer is world number 61 and will be nowhere near the top even if he wins. I think you're thinking of Stenson.

Tobe's brain is in a muddled state at the moment.

If Kaymer goes -2 (3rd rd), -2 (4th rd) and finishes on -16 do we think that would be enough to win?

Justin Rose seems to find the water a hell of a lot nowadays!

16 under would almost certainly be a winner only a couple running away with it could lead to that.
12 under will not be far away |

Spiffy odds lower than Kaymer????

spieth more likely than kaymer for me
|

I predict both Kaymer and Spiffy will blow it tomorrow.
|
|
By:
Think Spieth is the next dominant player.
He is only 20 and already up to world number 7. Only Bubba and Kuchar have more WGR points than Spieth this year. Apart from Kuchar I can't think of a player who is more frequently in contention. It is only a matter of time before the wins come. |
|
By:
Spieth is a freak. Agree with you Mighty.
|
|
By:
Not sure about 'dominant' player......

Roe is worse than Monty in the box - he really is - aftertiming sh1te and the same cliches week after week. He doesn't even make an effort to keep up with the players' performances. He just said Cink who is 3/4 way through a good round is "having his best week in years" - he was 3 of the lead after two rounds just last week.
|
|
By:
Agreed lads, hes better than Rory for me.
|
|
By:
Also twos is value, Kaymer wont stay with him over the weekend

That was super golf from Rory to make the cut. I feel there is something very small hindering him. He was always a streaky player but looks to me that he is trying to maybe deal with more than golf and nearly newly married. Never doubt he is a most exraordinary talent. Speith is looking to be getting better and better. My feelings are that Rory is nearer the big win in the next few weeks. Another player who is a great talent is Harris English. Will not be here this weekend but he is a lovely player. Beautiful swing and the boys that know, the caddies, are cueing up for the big job.
|
|
By:
Yeah, that was sublime golf especially the front nine from Rory!! He is way too inconsistent at short prices and yes there are some good talents emerging who will overtake Rory IMO, not sure he is close to a win in the coming weeks!
|
|
By:
I agree with Rhino in the fact that Spieth is a freak. Has maturity beyond his years and just seems to always be there.
If he wins a big one soon he could go on to multiple wins in the next 3-4 years |
|
By:
3 putts for Rory on the first hole.....

By:
Think I'm sticking with Kaymer - Speith is obv a great talent but can lose the plot a bit too easily for my liking.

By:
toberaheena, sent email with golf spreadsheet etc.

By:
kaymer getting a lot of negativity on here.former world number one with balls of steel(ryder cup putt)..it will be hard dislodge him from the top

By:
You have an experience golfer, an emotionless German sportsman vs a rookie, probably quaking in his 'boots'.
Spiffy overdue for some bogies by the law of averages. Hence the current price isn't value IMO. How many times have golfing forumites predicted great things from young golfers and as years go by, nothing much happen. The proof is always in the 'pudding'. Only time will tell. One thing i do know, i don't want Kaymer or Spiffy running away with this today otherwise it would make for a boring Sunday. |
|
By:
I predict great things from this young golfer.

All green. Brian Davis usually throws in one bad round. Hoping that the 72 in the first round was it for this tournament. Taken my stake out of him, but he's still a good winner. Good luck with yours.

Ski think you are being harsh on Spieth. He isn't a rookie by the way.
Yes he is only 20 but already is inside the world top ten and heading one way. Last year with no status he earned his card on invitations, then went on to win and came second in the tour championship. He hasn't won enough when in contention but has 11 top tens in the last twelve months winning once coming second on four other occasions. A couple of weeks ago Kaymer said he has striking the ball very well but his short game was letting him down. It will be interested to see if he can keep his long game going over the weekend don't fancy him if he starts missing greens. Kaymer was in a good position last week but faded on sunday. |
