100k balances probably aren't all that rare, here or at purple, if you lay golf especially you need a good pot to go after the outsiders. If someone had the balance to scoop that all up it'd be an eyebrow raiser, though. A lump like that isn't going to get matched, not with that strategy anyway. It might not even be intended to be matched.
Someone wanting that much on is either going to spend all week drip-feeding or go way under-odds, I doubt any layer will be salivating over taking up a 1.7mil liability at roughly the "correct" odds, especially in the face of one (possibly connected) person who obviously feels very confident. |

TB, it's certainly not me as I have 60 p in my account at the moment and have had that amount for the last 6 months or so.
I'd Guess it's scare Money put up from someone trying to lay at lower prices. I've used that tactic myself a few times ![]() It's almost impossible for someone to lay that amount. There are plenty on here(Betfair) who can put up that amount as a back, but I doubt there are more than a handful who can lay it and none of those who can are likely to do so. |

Rhino- no doubt things have died off a bit, especially i-r, but looking at the market pre there's still tight spreads and decent volumes. In-running these events were always hit and miss until the final day. Things pre undoubtedly took a hit when Eddie stopped laying the field at very high volumes, and of course Betfair have lost several significant countries. The forum's dead, but Betfair have more or less attempted to kill it off so that's no surprise.

Also, at the risk of sounding like their publicist (or getting myself banned), if you're only looking at BF you're not getting the full market picture- I've noticed especially this season purple has increased volumes and also increasingly independent odds rather than just following BF. Not surprisingly given that PC by design will hit golf punters more often, there are a few decent-sized players, myself included, doing business over there.

therhino, I withdrew most of my money a while ago. I think I left something like 200 k to play with, but have lost all of that and haven't got back in again, mostly due to my disgust for Premium Charge and the managment of this company which imo are doing their best to wreck this (former) great company.

In running is very quiet. Unless you're betting really big volumes though, I still think you can get matched without too much difficulty if you put up fair prices. Always someone watching. Obviously a lot easier with market leaders. I missed those days, was a once a week football punter until a few years ago when I discovered golf as a betting sport (had never considered it) and been here ever since, suits my needs no problem.
Can't play Purple in Oz so I have little choice. If had to be traditional betting I would give golf away in all liklihood. |

TB, do you know if The Purple has opened up again for countries they banned when Ladblokes took over ?
Since they took over I haven't been able to Access the site (from Norway) until roughly a week ago. No problem accessing the site now, but I don't have an account there so don't know if I'm allowed to open one and start betting ? |
|
By:
therhino, it's been quiet, but I might start up on The Purple as that was my plan when I withdrew my Money from here. Sadly that was exactly at the same time as Ladblokes took over and banned Norwegian customers.
|
|
By:
Eddie- purple don't seem to have a list of prohibited territories but Lads site mentions no restrictions on Norway for sportsbook or exchange, so I daresay even if you can't go onto purple direct you'd be able to go through the Lads exchange, which is the same thing. If there's no legal reason to prevent you I'm sure they'd welcome you with open arms!

After last week, when 16 of my team of 20 were no-hopers after 2 hours (Only managed to lay three in running). Didn't back the winner at any stage, in fact I laid him when he was on the seventeenth. But I won more on it than the previous two tournaments when I backed the winners pre-tourney at 140+.
I might have to change my strategy. But the horses are going to plan. Biggest winners this week will be Walker, Noh, O'Hair and Kokrak. Good luck with yours. ![]() |

All the best Eddie, TB. Until next time.

Thanks TB.. I checked on a Norwegian betting forum and there was a thread about this. They said Ladblokes Exchange was open for Norwegians now. Is that the same as the old Purple, just with a new name ?

Looks to me like late starters have caught a big break here, especially if these guys have to finish up on Saturday because of the delay as Saturday looks pretty windy.

You ever look at the leaderboard and see one of your players going well and are happy with yourself for the pick - only to find you hadn't placed the bet with your others

Doing the correct thing.Backed high and laid lower. My modus operandus is correct but still to get the fractions right re size of stakes. Currently involved with Zach and Kuch. Will continue to play the figures on the market, where it looks like we may have a big group finishing within 3 or 4 shots. It is a change from last week. The course looks very fair so I DO expect somebody to get on a roll, but not by much. Greens are big and a lot of long putts which are really only lag jobs and not really birdie chances. Where are all the great short iron players gone.

Interesting little quirk: the guy who won this 3 years ago with nothing else before or since was being backed in the 30s before the off. The guy who won this 2 years ago, and has 3 other wins including a major is 2 shots off the lead and can still be backed at 140.

Well noticed TB. Pity I did not look in here before I used my free fiver Sportsbook bet. Stuck it on the back of Kevin Na @ 22/1. I have not heard yet, but I suspect Quincy is on Kevin at a nice price.

I bet that 190K guy isn't happy at the moment???
