alliss is a great commentator, one of the great broadcasters regardless of his politics or his age
By:
are you bruce millington by the way??
By:
I guess if you like Aliss's style of commentary you must hark back to the 1950's,Dixon of Dock Green and all that. The sooner Sky TV ,Rob Lee and Sarah Stirk in 2016 take over and we move into the 21st century so much the better.

If you are not interested in the golf, not interested why the camera has not picked up the ball and are not interested in whether the shots are live then the BBC are great
By:
would like to see allis look like this at the weekend -
![]() |
By:
hmmm if it was on sky u would def have monty to contend with
By:
Second to none.
Despite the constant b1tching of abermoania and her fellow whingers, the good old BBC once again produce a classic ! ![]() |
By:
RTE would do a better job than the wasters at the Beeb.

By:
Where have you been Heinz?.
I assume you have been busy, given that it is the marching season?. |
By:
Steady Steady.
One more hop required. |
By:
Busy watching you make a complete Muppet of yourself love, with the never ending b1tching.
FFS give it a rest for the next Two day, huh ? ![]() |

I'd rather see live golf than all the interuptions - 'pieces', recaps, and player interviews etc. No reason to have the interviews in full screen at all
I know from previous years we are in for a fair bit of waffle on Saturday before live golf is shown, and won't tune in until after lunchtime |
By:
It is brilliant, no Monty and best of all NO ADVERTS!
By:
'd rather see live golf than all the interuptions - 'pieces'
They surpassed themselves in the middle of the day by doing a 'piece' about litter being picked up from the course, wf next? A piece about the portaloos? |
By:
By:
if you miss the adverts you can flick sky on when the pieces are being aired
3 minutes to the hour for the best adverts ! |
By:
Cameramen are terrible unable to track golf balls aah well good to see our licence money being well spent
By:
BBC golf cameramen used to be the best , but it was when they covered golf tournaments . The Open is to a large extent a media circus betimes , and the presenters are trying to make their one big sally a year into golf a thing of beauty for the viewers . Those of us who only want to watch the guys hitting shots are of secondary importance .
Still enjoyable though , and the absence of ads has to be a big bonus . |
By:
Maybe because balls in rough
By:
What is the point of Andrew Cotter? uptight and boring...got all pompous when someone suggested he read the
tabloid press. |
By:
cotter is class unlike you,he's witty an knows more about the game than you ever will
By:
ah i was waiting for the usual inability of the masses to distinguish between a nice voice(i suppose) AND
what is being said. He almost never says anything interesting or enlightening. |
By:
Who is the genius at the BBC who seems to have decided that rather than watch live golf we would much rather listen to Hazel bloody Irvine wittering on about nothing ?
By:
It's called a red button.
By:
Martin laird the "local lad" says Hazel
![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
"It's called a red button"
Is that so,Sherlock ? A red button that shows an out of date leaderboard and a small screen in the corner. Thanks for nothing. Compared to previous years the interactive coverage is appalling. |
By:
Better than listening to bull **** Holmes.
By:
RED BUTTON ISN'T GIVING ANY GOLF OPTIONS NOW !!!
TRIATHLON FFS |
By:
Got a horrible feeling we are going to see little but Woods/Westwood for the next couple of hours.
By:
Darren Clarke jettisoned after 3 pars
By:
it was funny watching cabrera bello play the first, bbc showed him watching his partners second shot, but failed to
show us viewers the shot, whilst the commentators chuntered on ! seemed to sum up the broadcast this year |
By:
bbc has certainly got worse ... almost as if someone with no interest in golf is directing the coverage
By:
Coverage today has been abysmal
By:
Seen nothing of The Masters champion who is tied 5th
Is there no flexibility in there coverage? Are they unable to maneuver cameras about the course ffs? |
By:
Last year's runner up and just 2 off the lead, Adam Scott has been invisible to the cameras
Anyone would think it was the final of the world matchplay with blanket coversage of woods and westwood The director wants shooting |
By:
Golf bosses tell Beeb - sort out your coverage or we'll take it elsewhere

Mahan could well be in the lead at the end of the day.
We've seen about 3 shots from him. |
By:
Seen more of him that Adam Scott
By:
IS ADAM SCOTT PLAYING? 2 off the lead seen him play about one shot?
