Phil the only player in the top 19 here, 20th being Els.
With The Open not far from here, surely many would come and get some competitive practice. The prize fund is better than almost all the euro tour competition. If that doesn't attract better players then obviously they are overpaid and couldn't careless. |
By:
Would you not just say Phil and Ernie the only ones present from the top 20
![]() The yanks and the rest will all be at County Down or Ballybunion practising there apparently. Lucky feckers. |

Am i right in thinking that only the winner gets a place in The Open, assuming not qualified already.

I'm heading up there tomorrow.
Staying with a buddy in Inverness. 4 days at the golf. Playing Boat of Garten on Monday, on the way home. One of the most beautiful golf courses on Mother Earth. I'll be following Soren Kjeldsen. He is wearing my money this week, and he is also my biggest green for Muirfield, at the mo, so he needs to win this week to get in. I think that his chances are pretty good. Came 5th here last year, and was right in the mix at Le Golf National until an untidy finish. Go Soren. |

Casey, Warren, Fisher needs to win this to qualify for The Open.
By:
they should make it if you win a eurotour event--automatic into open
By:
F Molinari & Pod this week. Weather set fair so could be a birdie fest could well be up Phils street this, he's getting the biggest part of my money this week.
By:
Looked at the qualified section on the The Open website and they aren't listed.
By:
The Open website is slow to update.
Unless I'm mistaken, I think that Warren has qualified by taking the 5th slot on The Race to Dubai. Casey, Fisher, and all the others, will only get in if they win this week. |
By:
The race to Dubai shows Warren at 17th place and Casey at 30th place. Top 30 qualify. But The Open site says top 30 for 2012.....meaning last year or this year as in 2013???
By:
Top 30 for 2012. Not this year.
Top 5 as of now, that haven't already qualified. I do think that the qualification system should be altered. All winners on the European tour should get a place, IMO, but that's not the way that they like to do things. |
By:
All winners on the European tour should get a place,
That's my assumption too, can't understand why Scottish Open winner can qualify, and not others , but i suppose golf was invented in Scotland, so why not. Buy why the Deere Classic winner get a place and not others on the PGA tour. What special about the Deere Classic tournament? |
By:
All winners on the European tour should get a place,
They shouldn't most of the fields are shocking. Criteria is fine top 50 in the world top 30 from r2d and fed ex. Plus 5 places for each tour for those playing well not exempt. After that you got to pre qualify - how it should be. |

By:
If he don't start you get your stake back on here.
By:
Good liquidity here, a few of the big boys having a hit out ahead of next week. Euro Tour to trump the PGA in posts and money matched again this week. My book reads:
