Well, the TV evidence of his interview is pretty conclusive.

By:
He gets stick because he should withdraw. ffs this guy was asked to comment on the Chinese kid's penalty yesterday and he quoted "rules are rules".
Now he's willing to break the rules and continue playing on a farcical ruling for his own benefit. RIDICULOUS. |

i have layed him and will back him back if he heads to the first tee
By:
never mind could be he should be disqualifed he has stated he did it deliberately what else did the stewards need to know
By:
I see masters.com have changed Tiger Woods to -1 and put him down for an 8 on the 15th hole.

he clearly said in the interview that he knew he had dropped the ball in a different place, that is a rule breach resulting from ignotance. The trial by tv rule doesn't protect you from rules breaches resulting from ignorance of the rules eg repairing a spikemark, grounding culb in a hazard. It was brought in because Harringtons ball moved when he marked it and he thought it just oscillated.
from an earlier poster. this is correct. he should have known he had got it wrong. the tv rule does not apply in this case. very poor decision. |
By:
Total disgrace - what should they do now - review every drop recorded on TV to see if it was as near as possible to original spot.
Could take away the odd major from Nicklaus or Palmer |
By:
DQ-ing himself would be one the greatest commercial decisions Tiger ever will make. Hope he doesn't miss the opportunity
By:
Good luck with thar...
By:
but you can drop the ball in different place (backwards) if you keep a straight line from pin and where it crossed the hazzard, obvious he didn't but what I get out from his comment after round is still he DIDN'T know he broke any rule at that point...and that tv pictures used to give him a penalty
By:
As if he is going to DQ himself. Absolutely bonkers suggestion
By:
Look lets get this clear, the tv picture rule means nothing in this case...it is not a factor!

For a laugh Tiger should step on the first tee wearing his green jacket.

The first 1000 post thread in a long time ,good old Tiger.
By:
he,s not thinking straight here,he,s a 7to 1 chance head full of cartoons and highly unlikely to win for me,even if he des his name and any future records will be shoite, his team will tell him to walk NAP, only thing he can do
By:
Unquestionably had it been anyone else they would have been disqualified or disqualified themself, this guy has no class at all so no surprises.

ok got my bets in. Time to withdraw Tiger, either for honorable reasons or marketing I don't care.

If it was anyone else it would most likely never got to this...I guess 5+ players has dropped it wrong during this masters

David lynn just tweeted
The only problem with this new rule is the consistency of the discretion |
By:
haha @ his team will tell him to walk... he is a winner he will never walk,, stupid comment

By:
Winners don't cheat. Learned that from arcade games.

There is no new rule relevant to this case
By:
Perhaps Phil will walk if it's such a good thing to do.

So much for the 'Great Man' and 'Greatest Golfer. Can not imagine the likes of Tom Watson, Nicklaus, Palmer, Seve, et al doing anything like this. And no, I'm not talking through my pocket.. Backed him pre-tourney at 5/1, laid some 2.26 and 2.2 last night. If he wins, I win 9 pence. Closest I could get to zero. Good luck with yours.

I don't think anybody would ever describe Tiger as a great man. Nor does he pretend to be.

balls, they've always tried to portray him as a great student of the game.

What's Phil Taylor got to do with this? |
By:
The ideal outcome now is -
Tiger finishes a shot behind four Australians* tied for the win. Before the sudden death play-off the officials re-visit the earlier two shot penalty on Tiger. They cancel the two-shot penalty and Tiger wins the Masters. "You're the man" "Get in the hole" "Birdie time" *or other foreigners |
