Rory only trusts his own dentist , as per press interview . His dentist is back home . Anyway wisdom teeth aren't easy .  Guess it will be a while before they ( it) are/is sorted .

Mind you he said they were giving him trouble most of last year , and he did all right .  So we are possibly back to the prime suspect .

Hmmm. He only trusts his own dentist but they were giving him trouble most of last year - needs to open his mind to possibility that his dentist is outside the World's top 100 - should have a word with his mate Tiger and get a referral.

I like that you put a value on each player and stick to it Ski, but 40s for Kuchar in his current form would be huge. He'll likely be back out to 40s with a lean week or two though.

Aside from that , Reaseheath , just saw an ad during the cricket , and Rory is biting into a really hard apple .  Trust that was not made recently !

heard on the radio today and rory apologised that walking off was not a good thing to do, didn't look professional and didn't set a good example for youngsters and fans.

that's basically all a guy can do after fecking up.

The dental practice nearest to where Rory lives is known to me  , one of the dentists there is in the family circle .  But I dont think Rory goes there , might just check up .

Rory was on Tv earlier , apologising etc , although somehow they were trying to lighten it up by dragging in Man U .  What Man U and their troubles last night has to do with Rorys walk off last Friday is anybodys business , nothing to do with what should be a serious episode in the life and times of Rory and the PGA .  Maybe someone is trying to piggy back on the non appearance of Sir Alex post match to face the press last night after the match .  Couldn't blame him , the refs decision to send off Nani was ludicrous ( not a Man U or soccer supporter by the way ) .

But I didnt see any strong questions to Rory about the walkoff , just looked like a press statemnt from the White House or Downing Street , saying nothing much .

Media management largely , but dont think Rory was asked to take it on the chin !

sometimes when you feck up, its good enough just for others to let you know that they know you fecked up (ernie etc). then move on. but that's just me. other's may want retribution, whatever that entails? public stoning? donation to charity?

he ate a sandwich before the WD. we all know the walk off was not dental related. and he knows that we know. and we know that he know's that we know. that's enough unsaid embarrassment for this saga imo.

the scrutiny is pretty epic.

anyways, this is what adam scott thinks about this whole rory thing Laugh:

Think he actually said something along those lines , Eddie . Which sort of surprised me .

As pokeron says , "HE knows you know " does Rory . Rory should just have done the sackcloth and ashes thing "mea culpa , mea culpa , mea MAXIMA culpa " and passed on to this weeks tournament . Trying to introduce Man U into the press interview  is just someones attempt to trivialise the happening .

For most of us the walk off is fairly trivial , Rory  wont do it again , but nobody was really affected except Rory and co , and they are bulletproof pending some decent golf from him . But PP refunded money on Rory I think , maybe they have a gripe ( but they do go in for attention seeking refunds etc , so its heaven sent for them ). Getting your money back because your pick is playing rubbish is good though , wish it became industry wide !

Got a feeling he may come out with a point to prove this week. Expect a different mindset. Agree with golfnut, can't miss out at the price, would kick myself if he won and wasn't on. Even if he fails, have to back every week at these prices. My book going in is:

Rory +710
Charl +700
Mahan +470
Watney +520
Oosty +1k
DJ +1k
Day +275
Haas +900
Piercy +630
Moore +725
Pod +163
Grace +725
Field -85

Taken Senden for top 10 as well. Good luck folks.

What about the fans who paid to watch and followed Rory around the course?

Put it this way......imagine you paid to watch Liverpool vs Man utd and at half time Liverpool are winning 10 - 0 and man utd can't be bothered to play the 2nd half and went home.

Without T. Wood, i wouldn't call it terrific.

Mentioned them myself in an earlier post , Ski Wiz , and it is a factor for the PGA deliberations etc .  Those who paid in to support / follow Rory have a gripe , although I suspect that support and interest in his play was dwindling rapidly hole by hole when it became obvious he was going to miss the cut . But most people pay in to watch a tournament which still went on , and those following Rory still could switch their support elsewhere , particularly as it was fairly early in the day .

Hopefully the whole episode will be confined to history shortly , but it might not unless Rory posts a decent few rounds or places high soon . Do think that nowadays there is a tendency to regard only the majors as important , which is nonsense in my book , particularly in relation to events like the Masters which is always played on the same course . Suits some players , not others . Trust Rory appreciates variety in the golfing scene and can motivate himself for other than the big ones .

Rory and Caroline have always looked happy together. He is obviously smitten with her so if they did split up i would imagine it would affect him but without any clues to that i dont think you can blame his lose of form on his girlfriend.

I cant see how his relationship Caroline could be anything but good for his golf as it must have given him a very good confidence boost. I know he had a previous girlfriend for four years, probably his only other, but that was probably more of a childhood thing and not very sexual.

I think its all down to pressure. I know he was world number one before the nike deal but now he has to live up to being worth £500 million.

Thanks Eddie, been on it all week. Yeah full stakes back on Charl, Haas, Mahan, Watney, Moore, Piercy and Grace. Left 15% stake on Oosty, DJ and Rory are backs added tonight and Day and Pod were negative trades. Should have taken Tiger at 13 but field was huge red at the time putting this together so got a bit conservative, missed out on the yak as well had him lined up at 120 but same story.

Ski - such a competitive man you are. I have a picture of you in my head as a freckle faced 5 foot 4 pipsqueak with a big case of little man syndrome Wink

Kelly, what did you expect from the press conference,he apologised for walking off,it was the wrong thing to do and it won't be happening again he said, that not enough for you?? As regards the man u question it was just a British journalist who was trying to make a wise crack at the start of the press conference, maybe he should apologise in your eyes too Laugh.
PS,Roy Keane was spot on,Nani should have got red, can't adjust the laws to suit!!

Cant agree with Kellys point about Rory walking off the course not being so important to spectators. When you go to a golf tournament you actually dont see very much. You see far more on tv. A lot of spectators just want to see McIlroy and Woods. It does not matter to them if they are 10 over or ten under.

He is a professional sportsman earning millions of pounds in earnings and sponsership. Whether he likes it or not he carries a lot of responsibility and the name 'golf' wherever he goes. That comes with certain obligations, one of which is not sulking when its going wrong and making up shyte.

On the flip side, we've seen with people like Ronnie O'Sullivan that they can't sometimes handle it.

The stunning , the opening salvo in the press "conference" I saw was to do with Man U .  No idea who the guy was , but I sort of got the impression he was front of house , and it smacked of media manipulation speak , "Put Rory at ease or trivialise the happening "  .  Just my handle on what I saw , Rory is big enough to stand on his own 2 feet , should not need "help" from whatever misguided  source .

You are in a minority of 4 regarding Nani being sent off , you , the ref , the linesman , and Keano . And I am not a Man U or soccer supporter , although I liked them a lot when the "Holy Trinity" were playing . The guy ran into Nanis raised foot , if you go in rashly with your eyes open you deserve any consequences .  Both of them should have got yellows in my view . Nani did not see the guy , the guy DID see Nani committed but went on . Nanis foot was chest high when the guy was yards away ( and Nani could not see him ) . And I also think Nani connected with the ball before the guys chest , apparently that is significant ( but there is also an issue with raised foot attempts to kick / control the ball , hence the yellow ) .

Don't want to turn this into a footy forum but if you watch the incident Nani DID see Arbeloa, and i'm only in the minority in this part of europe, across the rest of europe it is a straight red,no discussion, but of course because it's a british team the press are up in arms.As i said can't manipulate the laws of the game to suit.

As regards planting a british journalist at the front to let Rory off, well do i really need to answer that!!
Think he gave a great account of himself, should have finished the round off,and he knows that too well.At 23 years of age think he is aloud make the odd mistake.

No issue with Rory at the press conference , the Stunning  .  Called it like it was as far as it went with me . Guess Rorys dentist ( whoever it is ) got a boost from the world No 1. Surprised the USA dentists are not railing at  Rory , think myself the Yanks take better care of their teeth than we do ( and one of my sons is in the trade  here ) . But I understand peoples attitude to their dentist , suffered a good bit myself at the hands of dentists before my son qualified --and some of them were long term "mates" from school or uni , can still be painful no matter who is poking in your mouth .

Last time I got in the chair it took 40 minutes to extract a dodgy molar , alternative was a trip to the hospital dentist with all the attendant hassle . Swerved that , put up with the mild inconvenience for 40 minutes , bled mildly for 2/3 days therafter , as diagnosed / warned / agreed  , fine after a week and subsequently .  But I know a lot of people who would have chickened out and run for cover . The off season though is the time to get anything like that sorted for pro sportsmen and the like , and they can afford the best treatment .

The toothache was not the reason for not finishing the round, that i have no doubt. He said his mind was all over the shop and was heading for a round in the mid 80s which did not appeal to him.Think he will have learned an awful lot about himself this week, and like the masters meltdown a couple of years ago,i'm sure it will have a positive affect long term.

Gone for two in this...

Simpson - I think he's just edging back into form nicely and in his first go at Doral last year, two very bad rounds totally wiped out the other two very good ones.Hoping for four good ones this year.Bet him e/w at 40s with Sid James

Furyk - His form has been pretty solid so far this year and he does have a very decent record round Doral with five top 10s and a win here back in 2000.Bet him e/w at 55s with Sid James.

just the one bet so far,1st rnd leader bet - Michael Hendry @ 200/1 (1/4 1st 5),he qualified for this tournament as the second of two off the Australian Tour's Order of Merit in 2012.He's carried on that form this season by leading the order of merit with form figures for his first three events 4-2-1,not expecting him to win in this stellar field but in obvious top form + first out and only 60 in the field could hopefully get a place or even better, good luck people.
