Finally back into the right time zones.....
Probably lower liquidity and less attention than over the pond where the big boys are playing.......alas not as big as big hitter Quiros.....won this 2 years ago......can't understand why his odds are bigger than Colsearts and F Moly for god sake.....

Course form, 2nd, 14th, 17th. 11th on his last comp which was on a massive long course and wouldn't have even suited him, so was a great effort. The rough is apparently long this week as well...suiting his game. He's on 73.05% DA. |

Agree with Rhinestone that Ignacio Garrido has good course form, with a 2nd in this event in 2008, T17th in 2010 and T14th at the Andaluician Open on the same course in 2009.
He has also shown up quite well in both the Trophy Hassan and China Open recently and look worth a bet at around 90/1. |

Can't believe the player im wanting to back is available at 200+. thought he'd be around 80-1 even in a decent field like this.
Just took pretty much everything that was available at 200 - 220 even though it wasn't that much. Will be looking to get another £25 on at 200's if he stays at his current rice which i cant see. Also will hopefully get around 40's for a top 5 and if i do i'll be having a fairly chunky bet on it. The player im on about is Eduardo De La Riva Not known to many but his results in his last 3 events on Spanish soil have been superb for a player that i'm sure no one heard of a couple of years ago. in less than a year he has finished 15th on the Challenge tour then has twice been 3rd on the main tour but he's getting better by each event. in the Madrid Masters he was 2nd after 36 holes and did very well to finish 3rd considering how many unknowns have fallen when in contention. This season in Andalucia he lead after 54 holes and shot a credible 70 in the final round to again finish 3rd. Now for a player who has never been in contention on the European tour to have those types of results to me shows he's got something about him and he is a future European Tour winner for sure. More than happy to take that price. gl |

forgot to add he was 18th on this course in 2008 and shot a 65 in the 2nd round.

I've backed Boyd, Wall and Kjeldson (at the early 40's). Think George C will go very close but can't bring myself to back him at 28's. |

Yes good call on De La Riva Masch - I remember that performance at the Andalucia and thinking id never even heard of the guy. But he hung in there brilliantly well.
Not looked to hard at those at the head of the market just yet - but have made a list of the following guys that im thinking could potentially challenge - needs fine tuning though. As an outsider young Jordi Garcia cannot be ignored at 1000s.....has had a couple of promising starts this year and looks the sort of player that will develop into better things.....could well get into the mix in this..

A big team for me here 18 in total tried to avoid those who played in Korea, and a slight tilt to the spanish players.
The two biggest winners are Lagergren and Micheel. Out of the Spaniards Gonzo is my biggest winner. |

lol not one mention of the most likely winner with ticks in every box coming off a nicewarm up back in europe
around a wide open track that wouldn't suit, plays some of his best golf in spain (not keljson) and looks to be coming back to his best after carrying an injury last year, not the most prolific winner but with a bit of luck with the putting should be hard to beat with the good early draw 16/1 e/w fill your boots on franny B-) |

Havin won already this year I think this player has a great chance. He has tournament form, 5th last year and 6th in 2010 at the current Sevilla course. This player took last week off to rest after a respectable 14th at the China Open. He's rather selective about what tournaments he plays in. His preparation for this week looks great and this is a tournament he seems to really like playin in.

Paul Lawrie's also drawn alongside Olazabal. I imagine it will steady Lawrie playin alongside such a longtime Spanish golfin fav. They're both of similar age so possibily mates. I think the Spanish players will feel an added pressure to win on home soil in front of their fans. In my opinion this is an advantage to the other nationalities. In particular when your playin alongside such a home fav and the fans probably don't even know who you are. No added pressure.

Can anyone believe it's nearly a year since Seve died? i remember it like last week.
Would love to see either Olly or legend play well and if De La Riva doesn't win i seriously wouldn't mind losing my money to either of them, just for the emotion come Sunday. Hope we celebrate Seve's life this week with some good golf, just how he would want it. RIP Seve, a true legend and one of my all time favourite golfers !!! |

The Open de Espana brings the European tour back home and hopefully we will start to see a bit more consistency from players. My main tip is for a player who didn't bother travelling to the Far East and therefore should be fresher than most - Raphael Jacquelin. Stangely he has done nothing but drift on Betfair and I really don't know why. He is now a three time winner on tour having won in Sicily last year and he has a great record in Spain. His first tour victory came in the Madrid Open in 2005 on a course he had been 12th and 4th before. He has been 8th twice in the Spanish Open before and then 3rd in this event on this course in 2010. He has two top tens at Valderrama and in the last two renditions of the Andalucian Open he has been 4th and then 5th this year. In total his top 5 strike rate in Spain is 14% and top 10 25% - what's not to like?! I have staked 0.5 ew 66/1 (6 places) and I would suggest backing him on Betfair at a very big 100+ - he is first to tee off tomorrow and could be a great trade.
Julien Quesne has impressed me a lot this season and knows how to win - in the last few years he has amassed four Alps Tour wins, two on the Challenge Tour and then his maiden win in Spain on the main tour in March. Despite struggling with the grainy greens in Asia he still managed to finish well and his long straight driving should be well suited here - 0.3 ew 100/1 Just one little note on the round one leader market - Steven O'Hara has a good early record on this course and occasionally pops up in round one - I couldn't put anyone off having a few quid each way at 200/1. |

There are drifts on quite a few of them at the top as the market is now into 107% so i wouldnt be too alarmed.
Quiros out from 29 to 36 (after hitting 40) Kjeldsen out from 32 to 44 Noren out from 32 to 44 Colsaerts eased from 17 to 19. Someone taking a decent view against a few imo. I thought Quiros was value at 30. So topped up again at 34! |
