I agree Rhino, some serious prices about very good world class players this week with the obvious gravitation to Woods and Mcilroy.
Mahan is the interesting one for mine. Has always had that exceptional talent but never really put it all together, however looked absolutely bullet proof at the match play. How much do we rely on that form? |
|
By:
You could throw him in too AD, but my eyes bulged when I saw the prices on those I mentioned, not so much with Hunter.
|
|
By:
You left out Strick for mine also
|
|
By:
Yep him too, expecting him to go a little larger than current though so didn't mention. I haven't waited, just taken the 4 I mentioned, hope I didn't pull the trigger too soon but I'd expect those prices to come in a bit as opposed to going the other direction.

So many good players at big odds this week, it's almost like sticking a pin in the newspaper on Grand National day, but have gone for Kaymer and Stricker at fancy prices
Seems like an OTT reaction on Tiger's odds after 1 good round out of 4 at the Honda though |

Managed to get a cheeky £4.50 on Freddie @ 500s, and a huge 38 pence on Poults @ 780.

I have a simple theory....works well.......most golfers wins once a year.......few twice.......exceptional like Tiger many times.
Thus will lay Rory....normal do so when his odds are low in running....do not expect him to win again any-time soon. Have backed....put orders up......for many of the others apart from Rory & Tiger......the prices are too big to ignore. Expect some juicy trades this week.....fingers cross ![]() ![]() |

after drawing a blank at the honda, looking to build the bank for the masters. Love this as a betting event, small field big odds.
Mahan, DJ, Stricker, Toms, Laird, Hanson already taken |
|
By:
From the early price I've taken Scott at 40/1 and Haas at 66/1 both EW and 6 places with PP and Bodog.

I have a simple theory....works well.......most golfers wins once a year.......few twice.......exceptional like Tiger many times. Thus will lay Rory....normal do so when his odds are low in running....do not expect him to win again any-time soon. ten top 5s in his 11 starts 2 of them wins. I think there will be plenty more Rory wins this year. |

Adam Scott is not a player I would tip very often but much still holds true from what I said back in August when I tipped him up at 50/1 for the WGC event at Firestone. Here again he comes to an event where he has played OK before with a couple of top tens and with the "course caddie" on his bag Stevie Williams who had three wins round Doral with Tiger Woods in his prime. Scott is well rested compared to a lot of players having taken over three months off. In the one strokeplay event he played he was 17th at Riviera and was a bit rusty over the first two days. He is one of the few players who can beat the world top five when they are in form and the early 45/50 really is a very big price - 1 ew
Francesco Molinari - one thing in his favour despite the fact he doesn't win as often as he should - at least his last win was in a WGC event - the HSBC event so at least he can win in this type of company. His form at Sheshan before he won was 9/10 and his form at Doral in the last two years reads 14/3. He has had a pretty quiet start to the year but it reads no different to last year when he was 3rd and I think there is plenty of value in the place part of the bet 0.25 ew 110/1 Fredrik Jacobson - only a small play because I am still a bit worried about his thumb inury but he played OK last week in the Honda Classic when 16th although his putting saved his poor driving. He has some solid form in Florida over the years and on his only start at Doral was 4th back in 2006. With a PGA tour win now under his belt I belive he certainly has the ability to compete with the best 0.2 ew 80/1 |

Bit risky, but had to take some of Paul Casey, at a very attractive price. Coming back from a nasty injury, but he has played well here, and oftens starts his season with good performances.
Also, Choi, Molinari, Wilson, Noren. Traded Haas, Freddie, and Laird for some ok greens. |
|
By:
Traded Haas, added Stricker, topped up on Day. Going in with nothing but quality - Day, Stricker, Simpson, Donald and Scott in order of wins and Haas covered. Solid line-up.
|
|
By:
Didn't do any harm on the Honda, read too much into the McIroy/Westwood semifinal in the Accentur. Backed Westwood and traded him well. Forgot that at 22, your powers of recovery are much, much better and missed out McIlroy.
Will be on McIlroy at some point and go fairly big on Adam Scott and small bets on TMM's other two. With eric's, that's a starting team of sixteen, I think. Just got to decide on the 10k winner. Good luck. |
|
By:
Good tournaments like these always bring out big prices and I couldn't pass up the likes of Noren, Dyson and Jimenez at 400+. Also backed Fraser for a couple of bucks at ~900s. At lower odds I've gone with Quiros, Yang and Wagner.
A Tom Gillis-like week from any of them would be appreciated ![]() |
