I’ve played eight and have already laid two back - McIntyre because he won’t come back from last week in the short time available, and Keegan Bradley because his price has shortened considerably. I generally watch the first two days to a). See what damage the weather and draw might do to any fancied ones and b) Try and get a feel for who is in the groove and mastering the short game. Even then I rarely have a punt.
My remaining bets with a view to they might come good and shorten for greening up are,; Fleetwood, Lowry, Schauffele, Rose, Spaun, Harman and the Korean Im. My rank outsider, in terms of experience but not necessarily ability, is South African Potgieter, former British amateur champion who recently won in a five hole play-off on the USPGA tour, at around 300.0. I regret Spaun now after his Scottish MC but last week 160.0 looked huge for a U.S. Open winner. Any U.S. Open winner. g/l all. |

I played 3 earlier (1st 10 for £2.50 ew's) Bezuidenhout, Wallace and Taylor was looking for some selections to top up my bets. Like to play around 5 or 6 between 66/1 and 200/1 as 1 in the top 10 makes a profit and gives me some interest for the weekend (hopefully). |

Dustin Johnson. Once top of the World rankings now languishes in position 969. Has no form whatsoever in the last three years, having played very few events.
Has missed the cut in six of the last majors he has teed up. Can be layed at 2.1 to miss the cut. Goes out at 07.41 on Day 1, into the mist and dew. Surely has to be laid to MC. |
