Gatewood got us off to a flyer yesterday (advised 7/1), but we couldn't improve from that.  Something wasn't right with York Glory for him to run so flat.  The Fugue blew me away yesterday, she's a serious Oaks contender now.  She was always the danger to Twirl, but I thought odds against for Twirl was value in the morning.  Jawim should come on for his run at Bath, and stays in the notebook.
Day two at York now, including the Dante Stakes, and Gatewood's win ensures we are in profit going into it.

Yesterday was one of those days best left behind.  A few lessons to take from it, but not much else.
Aiden O'Brien has hit a patch of form, so worth considering his runners in France today.  I don't know enough about the opposition to put up a selection though.

Unfortunately my fears for Lightening Pearl were realised yesterday.  Despite travelling like a dream, she never came out of the dip. I'm hopeful of more betting opportunities later in the season for her.  Izzi Top won well, so ensured profit for the day anyway.

Thankfully I was spot on yesterday with Camelot in the 2000 Guineas, and I hope I can be right again in the 1000 Guineas today.  This race is a little less clear cut for me.  I think Maybe is possibly the best horse in the field, and justifies favouritism, but there's certainly no value in 6/4.  The value for me is still with Lightening Pearl.  She's one of only four Group 1 winners in the line up, and has been prepared for this race with precision.  My only concern is she may empty coming out of the dip, with the extra furlong, on ground that isn't ideal.  She'd definitely prefer good ground, but at 20/1 she's still the value pick for me today.

2000 Guineas Day, and I've gone with Camelot to win.  I think he's the standout in the field, and the one that's probably trained on the most over the winter.  I had considered taking the 14/1 available for an each way bet on Top Offer, but I kept coming back to Camelot, and I don't think he'll be beaten.  If you don't like backing favourites, consider Tip Offer e/w or in betting without the favourite (8/1 available).
It also look like the ground is drying out, which should suit big hope Lightening Pearl tomorrow.
