Not sure how many of you would have got the advised 7/1 on Spot The Ball yesterday.  Having opened in the morning at 10/1 he shortened in the market all day, and absolutely colapsed at the end, going off at 10/3.  Clearly fancied by many to put in a much improved effort, he found just one better on the day.  We got the place money, hopefully you did too.
Castlerock was a non-runner.

Taqleed and Deacon Blues delivered good profit for us yesterday.  I was surprised that Taqleed was dropped in behind yesterday, in complete contrast to how he won at Haydock previously.  I believe he touched 80/1 in running, turning the corner!  Great ride from Taigh O'Shea to deliver him late and take the win.  Brilliant ride from Frankie too on the unsurprisingly brlliant Deason Blues.

One winner from three yesterday with Caledonia Lady winning with ease.  Shallow Bay was the biggest bet of the day, and shaped up well through the early parts of the race, but found little when it mattered.  Courageous disappointed again, and and has failed to move on from the early promise at Royal Ascot.

In summary, there were three losing bets:

If yesterday proved anything it was the importance of a proper staking plan.  In a day of average runs from our selections one shone through.  Born To Sea, the half brother to multiple classic winner Sea The Stars, was the biggest bet of the day (2.5pt each way), and he romped home in his first start.  Advised early here at 5/1 he was backed into 5/2 favouritism.  Being the first race of the day for us, his victory ensured a profitable day.  Of the others, Eton Forever is the only one who merits a mention, finding just one better in the shape of Man of Action.

What a ride from Johny Murtagh on Thursday onboard Alanza.  He judged the ground perfectly, pulling the filly left a furlong and a half out to drive her home down the fast ground in the middle.  Perfect ride, and another winner for the blog.

Firstly, I don't normally put up a selection the night before, but am making an exception tonight.  I have a genuine fear the price on our selection will drop tomorrow, if the Irish money comes for it (which I expect).  More on that later...

Tuesday's only selection, Hot Spice, maintained the current top form for this blog by duely delivering (advised 13/2) at Leicester.  Brilliant ride from Philip Makin, on what is a quirky, but game, horse.

Already, as I type, the 10/3 available has gone, and it's 3/1 across the piece.  My fears may not be realised but Alanza may be 5/2 or lower tomorrow AM, in which case I wouldn't advise a bet.  Most of you will know Alanza already, as she has delivered for us twice already in races in Ireland.  This is a tougher contest on Thursday, but she is such a game Filly, and I feel there is still room for improvement, so is worthy of a bet.  This is John Oxx's first runner in GB this year, which counts for a lot, and Johnny Murtagh knows how to win on Alanza already.  Again, I expect Murtagh to get to work on her early, coming off the bridle before the others.  We know she takes her time picking up (we've seen that already), but when she does she finishes like a train.
Expect similar tomorrow, and those who like in-running betting, could possible take advantage of a bigger price maybe 3f out.

East Meets West was the only success story from Sunday.  Such a game run, he got the win he deserved.  Quite clear from the final furlong that Red Army Blues struggled to find the room required and Johnny Murtagh looked to be keeping him for another day.  Will be worth noting next time out.
Joseph Henry looked to be getting competitive at one stage in the big handicap at York, but faded badly in the final furlong.  Saratoga Baby wasn't in her race, in what was an unusually disappointing day for Ger Lyons at Dundalk.
