After the French Derby yesterday, we were left with the same feeling of disappointment as we were after The Oaks on Friday.  Again, we had the best horse in the race, but had no luck whatsoever in-running.  Something appeared to go amiss with Tifongo, and when Barzalona started pulling him up, he clattered through the runners on the inside rail.  This impact left Imperial Monarch detatched at the back of the field some 4 lengths.  Called on to close he picked up in the home straight and powered home.  Astonishing effort to get up to finish sixth or seventh, but clearly if he was given a clear run, he would have won the race.
