Last race of the afternoon, 15 odd runners there'd only been one above 10, reckon average odds will have been less than 5/1, and then 2 at once

Pleased to see you are going to continue system 999.
At the prices and the volumes, there are bound to be ups and downs on the journey - the overall direct of travel over time is the only thing that actually matters.

If you do have an edge - the slow drip will always fill the bucket imo
Only time and sample size will tell you if you have either a nice leaky tap - or alternatively if there is a hole in your bucket!

maybe famous last words here but i actually feel more confident than the p/l suggests as on day 1 i forgot to put in one of my intended rules when getting the selections.
But cos it was a decent enough start i carried on as is (without rule) but last night i worked it out and would have been 21 points better off with it, so in a way this is day 1 of a adapted system,obv rule included now.

i will deffo keep an eye on em mate, but both in the 2.35pm too big so out.

@ latalomne , actually really like the idea of keeping track and cos of the way i make the selections when picked i have no clue at all what prices they will be, and i mean no idea from fave to 1000/1 shot.
and with the table sorted its no hardship to add a column as a mythical p/l laying all selections irrelevant of price.

Good stuff, System99!  One suggestion from me, assuming you're not already using a separate Excel sheet to record all of this in addition to the above: actually record the prices (maybe BFSP?) regardless of the result.  It makes the data soooooo much more useful when you come to analyse it!

Hi system99 - great to see you are sticking with it. It's interesting and I wish you well.

I still think you need to do something to filter out the very big prices though. Partly because of the huge sample you would require to understand if you have an edge at those high prices - but mostly because of liquidity. The place markets are so thin that any decent sized lay/bet on the place market (especially at the bottom end of the market) can have a very significant impact on the price.

For example - your first race today - there was only about £400-£500 matched on your lay selection (Sea Sister). Roughly speaking it drifted from about 7.0 out to about 12.50 pre-race and returned an SP near that top end of that range. Getting £2.00 laid and recording a matched price of 7.0 (a liability of £12) is fair enough - but if you wanted to lay it for £100 (i.e. inject an extra £200 matched into a market that only had £400 matched), you would not have got anything much on at 7.00 and BOTH your average price matched and the SP would have been much higher, as would your liability and as would your loss on the ones that do run into a place.

Just some food for thought - I think you need to concentrate on the liquid end of the place market (the top end) because I don't think there is much value in recording SP's or your matched price for the big priced ones - if you played them (for any worthwhile amount) at a typical meeting, you would be pushing the prices right out and eroding your own edge/value.
