It has probably been done to death, but I can't be bothered looking, what would be a sound strategy to use starting with a 1K bank.

To make an average industrial wage say 20-25K per annum what size bank would be required.

You may as well have asked, "How long is a piece of string".  How much money you need to meet your goals is going to be dependent upon the size of your edge and whether your methods are scalable.

To win 20k in a single year on here - id say you would need to turnover somewhere in the region of BETWEEN

800K - 1 MILLION

50 point bank, 5 points a month profit..double your bank every 1o months..easy with the correct selections
By:
ZEALOT
When: 20 Jun 15 11:22
you will NEVER double your bank EVERY 10 months ----

in 10 years

1K would have grown to £4,096,000

Sorry but everybody would be doing it .

I have been thinking about this, and obviously what you state in your last post zealot is a sobering thought.

I am leaning towards a strategy that entails modest monthly profits.

In the course of any given month when/if a profit of 250 is made, that amount is withdrawn. Then for the remainder of the month I will operate from a bank of 50,if the 50 is lost a profit of 200 is still guaranteed,if more success has been achieved then the resulting profit is withdrawn at the end of the month.

To be realistic when working from a bank of 50,I would not expect to accrue much more to add to the 250,so an average profit in the region of 250 is what I shall seek.

It may well be a flawed strategy, and if successful will amount to only 3K per annum, but I think it may be my best chance to be successful on here.

so have I got this right , you want to turn a measly £50 into 3k by the end of the year ??????

What planet are you living on mate ??
By:
Golden Fleece
When: 22 Jun 15 22:18
No zealot, that is not the way.The start bank is 1K,and I will try and win 250 per month from that bank, and then risk only 50 for the rest of the month,(which providing I can get 250)guarantees a monthly profit of 200.

Equates to about 8/9 squid a day off a bank of 1K which seems achieveable.
By:
ZEALOT
When: 23 Jun 15 21:28
oh right . Still seems too high . Just take it easy and try and increase bank by 50% per year . Remember keep your liabilities low because these inevitable losing runs have caught the very best out over the years . They only look at the percentage profit the strategy may bring but are not ready for the roller coaster ride .

an interesting analogy if you judge a goldfish on its ability to climb a tree,it is going to spend the rest of its life thinking it is stupid.

Where to from here then, stop before I start?

Good luck, hope you can do it. You intend to make 25% of your bank every month and increase bank by 300% over the year.

Have you started betting?  If so how are you getting on?

I started at the beginning of the month and have made a profit of 120 which has been withdrawn.I had got up to 225 at one stage but then lost 105 over a few days so decided to bank the profit, and shut up shop for the month.

I will start again on July 1st, next Wednesday.I have had time to ponder and clear my head, since I withdrew the money and also because the month has been profitable it helps confidence as well.

It has also given me plenty of time to read and laugh at sir bonds threads, some classic comedy in them.

Well done. Glad to see that you're not being too rigid with your idea. It was an ambitious target you set yourself. Don't forget to consider what you will do if you go in the red.

I wouldn't get upset over people knocking you, there will be a lot of them.

One problem is my bank hasn't grown I will still start with 1K on first of July,so that is something I must look at,and also I am possibly missing opportunities by currently waiting until then as well.

There is a long way for me to go,but I am glad to have started with a profit.
By:
dlarssonf
When: 25 Jun 15 10:28
You can't give yourself targets.  Some days there will be three opportunities for example, then you could go days without seeing one.  The only way to win is to obtain value , stay patient.  Over the very long term you will see whether you are obtaining value or not.

There is no easy way.  It's not as easy as saying I will grow my bank by "x" amount each day/week because then everybody will be doing it.  I don't know what sports you trade / bet etc let's say tennis.  Go through the order of play and learn how to price matches up yourself.  See then if player "A" is 1.5 on betfair but you make him 1.8. Back it etc.  Only very rough example there but you get the jist of what I am saying.  Treat losing/winning markets the same, let it be boring if needs be!!
