NOOOOOO!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Headaches, headaches and more headaches for the rest of my life. |

terrible news...hope i reach super pc and leave by then. New site is wank.
|
|
By:
Best just to get a basic api then. less than a tenner and will save you the headaches.
|
|
By:
I don't mind the cost but I want something that is as close to the old site as possible. Does Betfair's cross matching show up on an api? I seem to recall they don't, or at least not on all of them.
|
|
By:
The new API (API-NG) can be asked for prices with or without cross-matched prices showing. If you're paying for an app that sits on the BF API and it doesn't let you do that the vendor needs to sort it.
Can't say I've seen any app that attempts to replicate the early-oughties-Win-XP look of the Classic site, but maybe someone will rise the challenge? Personally I think it's ugly as sin and the sooner it's drowned in a bucket the better. |

ffs my old bug bear still appears to be there on the new site
Open bets aren't even listed yet in market order. I have been going on about this for years. So if you have loads of bets waiting and want to just cancel a few on certain runners it is a royal pain in the arse to scroll through your list when they are not all clumped together. Yes, I mostly use the API, but that is not the point here, this basic feature is just not there on the new site. |
|
By:
it would seem that they are testing the switching off process today.
|
|
By:
yes dstyle - I can't load any markets.
a grim day. |
|
By:
Having been forced onto the new site for around 30 minutes today, it's clear it really isn't fit for purpose for full timers on here. It's so clumsy and chock-a-block full of bright graphics that simply distract the eye. Rangsit Univ JW FC v Chamchuri United FC is on the home page - a match that had a grand total of £2,192 matched by the end.
I know new sites take a bit of getting used to in order to navigate, but it really is dreadful. You can't see the wood for the trees. They really need to sort it out before killing off the old site for good. |
|
By:
seconded. it's just dreadful. The markets are too small and all the surrounding clutter is too big.
I trade through the site and use Geeks as a kind of souped up watch list, but this is going to force me to look at ways of moving my trading offsite, because for what I do the new-style web interface is unusable. |

longbridge is right, the old site isn't the prettiest, but it's clean.
barebones clean. and quick. which for people who only care about the numbers is all they need. oddly enough darlo, i'd say the old site was designed by IT geeks, people who thought all that mattered were the numbers; the new site appears to have been designed by people who think they know what the average punter wants. But betfair was never about the average punter. incidentally, while i'm almost certain it's about being RESTful, did you know that your bet data is sent to betfairs servers as you type it in, rather than before you click submit? anyone else find that a trifle concerning. |
|
By:
really? yes, that is disconcerting.
|
|
By:
i don't think it's just BF ,i think it's the country generally - everything has become clumsy, long winded ,slow and just awful .
If the UK was a horse it would be put out to grass . It's not going downhill -it's at the bottom and lying on it's ar5e in a ditch As for the site itself, like most new ideas ,if it doesn't blind you with colours or scream in your face it's simply no good ![]() |

By:
@TheVis - I make you wrong on that (at least on the sports that have the new market view & betslip, like horses and football) - my unmatched bets on the new site are grouped by runner and shown in the same order as the horses are in the market view.
@romford/viva - Colour is all in the eye of the beholder I guess - I find the old site really drab. Navigation works for me but I'm almost entirely a Racing punter and the combination of the Racing homepage and the 'Racing Today's Card' view does pretty much all I could ask for. The tabs above the market view giving access to the Win/Place/AvB/Forecast markets without wading through the weird menus of the old site where the Forecast markets are in a completely different part of the structure to the Win & Place are a definite improvement. Not sure what viva means about the markets being too small - if anything the market view on the new site is bigger on my desktop than the old one, which seems to assume I'm still running the 1024*768 monitor I had last decade! |
|
By:
I too had to use the new site today for 10 mins and also noticed the unmatched and matched bets were listed in random order (although at least they were grouped together). I also noticed some bets with long names were cut off in the betslip so I couldn't tell which bet it was! Literally no way of being able to see what the bet is.
The new site has too much clutter. Totally useless clutter. You can't even minimise the left hand bar with the markets, something I do for all the windows on my second screen. I've let them know but have no hope they'll improve it. They seem to want frequent users to go to an API and mug punters to go to the sportsbook. I've been told the feedback's been good and some who swore they'd never move over to the new site have now done so. God knows why. |
|
By:
Oh, and it's that little bit slower too. Whether it's moving to a new market or opening up the betslip when you've got lots of bets, it always has a little stutter.
|
|
By:
enough of me moaning - i love England otherwise
- anyway ,what i had originally come onto say was that i can't log in on the old site ![]() |
|
By:
i don't know why BF don't pay a few on here with suggestions to help make the site work -it wouldn't cost them a great deal and it would be advice from those that actually USE the site .
|
|
By:
which is why i'm suspicious there are reasons for this awful looking mess - maybe they only want a certain section of folk using the site - and that certain section likes the layout
certain demographics perhaps ? ![]() |
|
By:
ah OK Longbridge - thanks for that.
I didn't realise that on the new site there is a "new" view and an "old" view. I was looking at the rugby world cup market where I have numerous bets. These are not listed in market order, but then as you said, I checked out a horse race and my unmatched bets are listed in market order. |
|
By:
They seem to want frequent users to go to an API
Can't believe that since they significantly worsesned the API last year. |

seems to be up and working at the minute

i don't know why BF don't pay a few on here with suggestions to help make the site work -it wouldn't cost them a great deal and it would be advice from those that actually USE the site . If I remember correctly, they did invite people to Betfair Towers a couple of years or so ago to help with the development of the new site. Wish I'd gone! |

who the hell were they ?

although probably a bit like jury service - where you're opinion doesn't really count in the big scheme of things - you're always directed/recommended by some higher authority (judge)
it was a sham no doubt |
|
By:
@The Vis - no problem. Horses and Football have definitely moved over. For other sports, check out if the betslip has 3 tabs (old one, extra tab is for Sportsbook multiples from your Exchange selections) or 2 tabs (new one, should keep your unmatched bets in the right order, has a few handy extras like back & lay dutching in the betslip I find save some fiddling).

Because of bugs I was encountering on the old site, I tried to use the new site (In Oz). Unbelievably, I couldn't find a way to display my existing bets. I worked in the IT industry and have sat down and figured out how hundreds of apps work. If I couldn't figure it out, gawd help the unwashed masses.

Another things is because of the amount of crap on the screen, any market with over 10 or so lines doesn't fit on the page and you have to scroll down. Something like Correct Score in football comfortably fits on one page on the old site but 1/3 of it is 'hidden' on the new site.
Betfair, DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE OLD SITE. |
|
By:
Exactly, TP. It's hopeless. I'm trying to do CS at the moment, and there is no way to get more than 8 runners to show. Old site: 12. Plus, those 12 come up straight away, whereas to get 8 on the new interface, you need to scroll till it's maximised. It's just awful, awful design.
I could probably live with it if there was a way to remove the crap from above the market, but there seemingly isn't. |
|
By:
do you get the impression they don't want us using the site ?
|
|
By:
we're probably classed as parisites and this is the easiest way of dealing with us

By:
Please leave the old site, new one is a crock of ****.
|
|
By:
That's the problem, viva el presidente!, there's no way or removing all the crap that takes up so much space. I can see all the scores in correct score on the old site and there's loads of space left underneath. God knows what sort of person is interested in all the crap that surrounds the odds on the new site.
I have no idea what's really going on. I had quite a few emails with one of the directors back in 2012 about this subject and was told they wouldn't turn off the old site until they were satisfied the new site was better. I'm assuming they're unable to tweak the new site to resolve the issues I (and others) have raised, and they obviously won't start from scratch, so they've taken a like it or lump it approach. |

I always wondered how they knew what I was about to submit. I had a sneaky suspicion that someone or Betfair themselves were monitoring my trades as the behaviour was just too coincidental for my liking. I am not here much anymore at all but remember being able to get certain bets in the market to self cancel just by threatening to take them (and before pressing submit) even though they were not value to me at the time. It stinks, just like everything else at betfair. |

The "new site" is a piece of garbage, my head starts aching when I think of it. Let alone being force to use it.
|
|
By:
The only way the old site will remain is if enough of us contact them. It's a long shot but it's better than just posting on here.
Needless to say, if you can give specific issues, there's more chance of them listening. I'm afraid they think it's a case of us not liking change, rather than there being serious problems with the site. |

______________ they should be looking on here to start with would be weird if they were heading to the high street with clipboards to gauge opinion - although it wouldn't surprise me ![]() |
